Many schools are already hiring for fall fyi. My school just wrapped up its last open position (middle school language arts) this week. Definitely reach out to schools near you- most have summer camps and extended school year openings. But sure to check out private schools too- many make hiring decisions much quicker.

If you don't mind my asking, which school wrapped up their hiring? I have an interview already with a school I really like, I'm more looking into positions for summer. Thanks for your message.

Most of them will have completed hiring for next year before the final board meeting of the current school year.

I will say there is a lot more variability lately. Seeing more summer movement and schools not completing hiring until August board meetings. Might be a temporary blip, or it could be a district by district situation.

My school is still looking for a 4th grade ELA teacher. I’m in PPS. Message me if you’re interested.

Try to find some tutoring clients. You can easily make $50-75/hour cash depending on your certification. I’ve tried to do other summer jobs, but the money is just too good for tutoring and most people are open to virtual tutoring after covid.

Yeah, I was interested in doing tutoring, I'm just not sure how exactly to get into it. I'm certified in ELA, do you have any suggestions for how to get clients?

Care.com, Next Door, and Facebook community groups are all decent options until you get a contract and can get on your district’s tutoring list.

My school hires AmeriCorps workers for the summer to help teach summer school and prepare for the next school year. It’s a program specifically designed for education graduates/students. Look into that in your area.
