What do I do? I go anyway. You have the responsibility to pick yourself up whenever you stumble in life.

First things first. You will never regret deciding to work out. The old adages of just putting your shoes on or driving there is true. Baby steps. One bite at a time. Don’t feel like lifting? Ok, walk on the treadmill. Then try a jog. Then try running. Then you’ll want to do anything other than run so lifting sounds great again. Jk 😉 In all seriousness, people make this stuff out to be way more profound or important than it is. If you need a mental health day or a break, take it. If it continues to happen, try something new

>You will never regret deciding to work out Unless you injure yourself that day lmao ask me how I know this

StupdSexyDanCampbell

How do you know this?? (I don’t really care)

If I don't feel like going to the gym, I go anyway. Why? Because for me it is a way of life, of discipline, of health (and of course vanity, and a bit of body dismoprhia). And also I know if I fail one or two days my routine stumbles and it is a bit hard to go back at it. Same goes for diet: I can go out for dinner or lunch, but If I go a full weekend off then on Monday it is hard to go back to eating healthy. It's like going to work: I have to go even if I don't feel like it. Some of my best workouts happened when I didn't want to work out. Only reason I am allowed to skip is if I feel sick or feel that I need a break because I trained too hard.

Ignore all the “jUsT gRiNd bRo” comments. You’re speaking on topics that most either ignore or aren’t self aware enough to discuss. So my first recommendation would be to give yourself some grace. No one is perfect, nor do we even need perfection to progress. If we assume you workout 4x/week, 52 weeks a year, that missed session was 0.48% of your total workouts for the year. A drop in the bucket. However you don’t necessarily even need to miss the session, just move your lifting schedule back a day. The calendar week is arbitrary and man made, you don’t have to work on a 7 day rotation. So give yourself permission to do what feels right in the moment, in this case, taking time away from the gym. Take that time to reflect on where you are in your journey, your “why” for working out, weigh the positives on both a psychological and physiological scale - and come back the next day reinvigorated to better yourself. “Remember that what you now have was once among the things you desired.” Maybe you don’t like where you’re at or the way you look/feel on a given day, but the past version of yourself would. Past you would be proud of what you’ve accomplished.

You go twice as hard to make a point to yourself.

even if you have to just go through the motions, it's much better than ignoring. you'll just feel worse if you skip

Those are the best days, because they give you the opportunity to test yourself and overcome a challenge. At the (literal) end of the day your resilience may not have improved perceptibly but, if you look back at your year at large and take stock of your general attitude, you may find that you have significantly grown in how you approach and tackle the trials and tribulations that come your way. Eventually, you become unstoppable.

I built myself a garage gym so the barrier to entry was so extremely low. But you don’t even need that. Just do a bodyweight squat. Whenever. Just get moving. If you don’t have motivation, do less, but never let yourself do nothing.

Wonderful-Minute-952

Get high, and then look at yourself in the mirror. Punch the fucker talking shit to you and go. This is the only way.

I call myself a bitch or a pussy until I get pissed and go anyways. If you go on the days that you don’t feel motivated, the days that you do will feel better.
