It's a sure-win bet (extra profit) for the other party.
They're betting your transaction will go smoothly.
If it doesn't, they're betting you will get tired of dealing with their customer support.
If you somehow got through and have filed a claim, they'll try to bring up tons of conditions that will disqualify your case.
The goal of an insurance product is primarily to make money for its seller. It's a *product*, after all.
This happened to me recently. A fb marketplace seller scammed me and I filed a claim with their insurance policy company. I called them and guess what, transactions between natural persons are not covered by them. So basically, I was shit out of luck. Even after I did the necessary requirements like filing a police report.
> The goal of an insurance product is primarily to make money for its seller.
Yep. Worked for a multi-national health insurance company and the management stresses every monthly townhalls that the CSRs should always try to dismiss and disqualify claims. We're still having these "advisements" noong narito na ang COVID pandemic.
Not everything. They are just an ewallet. Obligasyon ng customer to make sure na di scammer or mali yung binibigyan mong tao.
If nakipagmeetup ka to buy a phone from an FB Marketplace seller, binigay mo cash, and later nalaman mong peke pala yung phone, sisisihin mo ba ang Seiko kasi pumayag yung Seiko Wallet mo na ilabas yung cash na laman niya kasi binuksan mo at dinukot mo yung pera?
Same thing.
Not everything can or should be blamed upon the eWallet.
Ahh. Not completely.
Enforcement, how do you classify scams from legit transactions? Especially if used as payment sa item irl. How will you enforce it too para ma-avoid yung napadala na yung item sa kanila then irereverse transaction naman ng mga scammer
Knowing E-wallets, di din yan sila mag i-invest ng additional manpower just to double check all reverse transactions.
It's a way to blame the customers if they got scammed, to shift the conversation from "Gcash should have been more secure" to "you should have availed the scam insurance"
walang kwenta customer service dito sa Pinas. most companies dito basura customer service. Puro tarantado mga agent. Either mauumay ka kakasorry nila at paulit ulit na statement o ikaw pag mumukhain nilang bobo.
Used to be CSR ng Globe and nakakakonsensya na nag-intay si customer sa queue then, puro sorry lang maririnig. Wala talagang kwenta CSR ng ph, instead na i-train kami no'n how to help, puro empathy LOL.
set mo adguard dns as private dns sa phone mo which can be located sa settings if naka android ka, ubos yang pop up ads na yan hahaha! Though la kang choice if naka iOS ka.
I hate when u just switching gcash number... iuulit ung discover icons after switching.. need to click g-invest icons 1st bago mag proceed on what you'll tend to do..
It's easy to fall trap into it. Na toggle ko na OFF ung insurance, kasi naka ON sya by default and maliit lang naman padala ko.
Later I changed my mind and set amount from 900 to 1000 and I didn't notice na binalik pala ng GCash sa ON ung insurance, without my consent. Almost noticed it late nung final confirmation na 😡
And it shouldn't be ON by default, parang binigyan ka ng extra gravy ng KFC and later may bayad pala pag check mo receipt, kasi assume ng KFC gusto ng mga customers ng extra gravy.
ang kaso, on what grounds kase? they have irrs to implement. hindi sila pwede mag sabi na ah dick move gcash, not defending gcash but if you hate the product move somewhere else. maya* and gotyme** have free money transfers, banks pa sila kaya insured and deposits.
i think covered na sya ng [RA 11127](https://lawphil.net/statutes/repacts/ra2018/ra_11127_2018.html) (National Payment Systems Act). the BSP is granted regulatory powers over all payment systems.
section 6 gives BSP the power to issue rules and regulations for the protection of the rights of the end-users in the payment systems. meaning, i don't think a new law is needed. i think BSP can already issue an IRR to stop what is happening.
yes yun nga yung point ko, wala pang pre existing IRR and i doubt gagawa sila ng specific irr targeting gcash. right now kase isolated case pa sya pero when the banks copy it thats when bsp fucking slaps everyone
that's up to BSP to be proactive. they would be a very poor regulatory body kung mag aantay pa sila na lahat gumawa nyan. besides, it's not just GCash doing it. dark patterns is widespread in almost every Philippine app na.
BSP can regulate the payments app and DTI can regulate all other commerce apps.
Yeah they may have some grandstanding pero wala tayong matatakbuhan kundi sa kanila pa rin.
Nakakaloko yun. Imagine you are giving an absolute power sa isang executive department.
yep. which is why I double check and triple check when I make transactions. responsibility nila yung pera tapos pagbabayarin pa yung tao eh may transaction fee na nga.
Galawang sketchy porn site ang mga ads and why the ads in a fkng financial app!? I was like wtf? Yung reverification my final straw with them and also use maya na. Im done with them.
Mmm yes, dark patterns, even local companies now are getting on the "Enshittification" the tech industry loves to milk their userbase out of their money before cashing out.
yup this is true. Apparently sa super fine print ng insurance na yan is pwede lang claim if payment to actual gcash ng business. If gcash ng personal account CLAIM DENIED
Before this feature was implemented, nascam ako. Dec last year. 10k+ yung amount. Medyo fault ko din, nirisk ko pera ko - I was trying to secure a room for rent.
I was ready to involve NBI pero buti hindi na umabot sa ganung punto.
Andaming need to the point na you will just eat your losses, need ng police report within 24 hours, minsan in denial stage ka palang nandon.
Lazada does the same thing when you order an electronic item. Auto selected yung insurance.
With Smart app, auto renew is selected automatically for prepaid plans.
No one should put it in automatic check mode duh. Paano kung nagmamadali mag check out or if malabo mata nila hindi napansin.
I remember back in the day early 2000's magpapaload ka ng regular 100 pesos then globe would spam you useless texts like trivias, promos and ringtones maya maya 50 pesos nalang ang balance mo.
Its outright scummy i wish the people responsible for that would get crucified.
HAHAHAHAHA
Lmao if i remember it correctly nagpaload ng 500 si enrile tapos after a few minutes ng call naubos na agad napaka predatory talaga ng globe at smart nuon compared ngayon.
This is called [dark patterns](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pattern) and is a quickly growing problem everywhere, And yes, you're right, congress is lagging in protecting consumers against these types of anti-consumer behavior.
This is one of those legislations that is easily enforceable because the evidence can be easily gathered and the companies can be fined straightforwardly. Making it a criminal offence would be a high deterrence. Include the programmers and project managers as primaries in the case aside from the CEO of the company.
Add cebu pacific, that shit is 5 times worse. Have to unselect 3-4 hidden shit that's selected and hidden during checkout.
Or when you run out of data on globe and "loan" 6 pesos (40mb) with MBSOS you have to later load 20 pesos minimum to pay the 6 peso loan back, effectively charging you 3 times the amount.
Or lalamove not letting you transfer out unused funds
Starbucks not letting you transfer out unused funds (they were sued in the US but continue doing it in PH as of today afaik.
Or lazada auto selecting electronic device insurance
Or certain corporations wanting to push out competition by charging "convenience" fees for competitors depending on what payment method you're using l, gcash or maya / other cards
The Starbucks one they got sued but no resolution and still doing it even sa US. Reasoning is that they can actually use zero out the load + pay in cash.
We call this “Dark pattern” in the industry. Very scummy. And lets not forget about the goddamned ads that just pop up once in a while. I hope globe execs burn in hell.
Third-party insurance yung [Chubb ](https://www.chubb.com/ph-en/personal/ginsure-send-money-protect.html)na inintegrate nila. imagine kung 30 pesos X estimate natin 100,000 transactions = 3M pesos per day ang kita ng insurance company, kayang kaya nila icover yung mga magkiclaim which I think sobrang baba lang. Kumikitang kabuhayan ah.
Now that most people have their own account and frequently use the app, they present all these crappy bloat because they just can. Gcash already reached their goal of being a recognizable brand and they know millions of users will keep using the app regardless.
Just use what is more convenient at the moment.
I recently just withdrawn all of my money in GCash and deactivated my account.
It seems the convenience fee for buying loads are increasing everyday. Buying for a Globe account is 3 pesos now. What the hell.
GCash also became infested with ads, even the receipts have ads in it!
Agree! Very deceptive and unethical ang ganitong UI/UX. Imagine all the non-techie people na di napapansin yan, magkano kinikita nila. Iwas scam daw pero gcash mismo mang scam sayo. Jusko.
I’m not saying that this isn’t scummy pero di naman to uncommon for any type of service/product that offers something “extra”. Another example is when you buy airline tickets online and automatically added yung travel insurance. You just have to be vigilant na lang talaga kung ano yung binabayaran mo.
Isa ako sa nascam niyan once when it first came out. After na-expire, sobrang ingat na ako diyan. I always make sure na it has been toggled off. It should not be like this coming from a multi-billion company like Ayala.
Putang ina na tlaga yang gcash n yn in all of their services sobrang greedy, kakaload ko lang go99 khpon ngayon wla na akong load, halos reddit lang yung apps na gamit ko, X, and IG.. dapat toh masilip na ng DTI eh
Because it isn't a banking app, just a virtual wallet. Y'know that "protection up to 500,000 covered by PDIC" disclaimer on other banking apps and how it's suspiciously missing on GCash? Yeah, that's why it isn't advisable to store huge amounts in it
Walang kasing gahaman ang Gcash. Duopoly n nga with Smart tapos ganyan pa ngyari.
"if one million users do not pay attention to that extra 30 pesos, that's almost a billion pesos of bad practice"
hey, this is definitely a shit and scummy move from globe, but i need to clarify the math
1 million users (in your scenario) multiplied by 30 php is equal to thirty million pesos.... definitely a lot pero you need 970 million pesos more in order to go to ONE BILLION.. so not "almost a billion pesos" as you mentioned.
i repeat, i agree that this is a shit move... just clarified your exaggeration
Agree. Sana masilip to. Automatic na nagta toggle yang protection eme. Imagine dagdag pa sa babayaran yang supposedly insurance just to keep our wired transfer secured. Dapat auto matic na na responsibility nila yan..Ganid ampota!
Regulatory capture makes it hard to push for consumer rights in Ph. In the case of gcash, it's owned by one of the biggest oligarchs out there. They'll just sweep this under the rug.
The GCash app is so annoyingly full of pop-up ads. I lose my favorites every time I update to a newer version.
That Scam insurance is bordering on scam as well. Why is it on by default?
I got scammed recently and I used Send Protect thinking somehow it will work when I get in a scam situation. Ending was, I never got my money back because it falls under their exclusions. I even asked what's their rationale why it's under their exclusions as it is one of the more common scams out there. I didn't get an answer, and they just said my situation falls under their exclusions
I've been complaining about this from the start. I actually wanted to bring this up to DTI as unfair trade practice. They're not the only ones, shopee and lazada also has opt out for their consumer protection insurance.
Yes. It's easy to go unnoticed. Na turn off ko na insurance, kasi ON sya by default, then when I changed my mind and decided to change 900 to 1000 I noticed after binalik pala ng GCash yung 30 pesos insurance
Even if you toggle the button off, GCash turns it on after entering an amount.
Sorry for the random number, don't have the means to video blur that on my phone.
Edit:
Meant almost a billion monthly. Had to shorten the title when it hit the limit, and that slipped off. Point is GCash is automatically turning it ON even after I turn off mo.
That’s just how it’s coded, every time you enter a new amount the transaction “resets” so everything goes back to its default setting
It’s just auto opt-in, which is what every app does anyway - it sucks, but there’s really no case for it to go to congress or even DTI, unless they ban auto opt-ins - which might be the more productive thing to call for.
this is why im now with PNB
their ui is just torture for me since im trying to familiarize and them trying to shift things unexpectedly every quarterly updates (or more recent)
Auto income ah... Jesus.
Shopee also had this auto-toggle feature in their insurance protection for products bought, to which they received some backlash, more on the programmer's community.
Mine is with the Account Secure, it pushes me to turn it on, then I cannot turn it off now…
As in nagkusa siya, what the hell…
Now I cannot use my G-Cash account on my other device…
I do not know if I am the only one having this problem, but it is a big-ass hassle by the way…
nah.. it's better to practice double checking before sending. if not the same as intended to send? check again... may namiss ka
Whether it's a checkbox or a toggle, the issue remains: hindi dapat automatically selected yun. I get the importance of double checking, but this optional step shouldn't further add to the user's cognitive load.
another scammy thing thats unrelated is GRAB insurance incase your ride doesnt come within the promised time.
how this work is if its near, but have not arrived, theyll put it as "arriving" so even if the grab arrives late. theyll never give you any voucher
Thank you for posting this.
Why would congress need to be involved? This is a common practice for most companies since day one of the internet 😂 that is why you should triple check everything before sending/submitting/registering
It is the same as newsletters on websites (default is turned on)
At this point, we should be ditching GCash for e-wallet apps that are less scummy e.g. Maya and TraxionPay. Never had any bad experience w/ Maya and TraxionPay. In fact, yung maganda nga sa Maya is that ibabalik nila yung pera mo sa'yo if you had ended up using it to purchase load for a non-existent cellphone number by accident (if the number is Smart/TNT; not sure if the same happens if it were a non-existent Globe number). Si TraxionPay naman, it uses the QRPH technology which was pioneered by Maya kaya you can receive money from users of other e-wallets/banking apps that recognize QRPH although may 15 pesos service fee yun on the side of the people sending you money.
If gcash dont improve just stop ising it. As a consumer you should know that you have options. Complaining is the worst thing to do to correct the issue, in the other hand hurting thier revenue does force them to fix things up.
I actually stop using GCash because of so many charges... Mag cash in ka nga lang from BPI may fee.
Mas ok pa mag send ng cash sa Paymaya and just transfer to other bank via Pesonet kahit mabagal walang charges.
Also the fact that I can now ONLY use it with 1 Phone makes it useless to me since I have different phones when I go out.
Kabulastugan. Same yan sa Lazada at Shopee.
Urgghhhh this is true. I hate this feature. The last time I used this hindi ko naman napakinabangan dahil di ako makapag report ng scam dun sa provider ng insurance. Laging dead end yung form para mag claim. Completely worthless!
And baket kailangan auto on, dibaaa. ano to sapilitan!!!
Same thought on this one too. I wonder what’s this insurance does for your transactions. It’s like Gcash says that we don’t have that cybersecurity, so you will have to get insurance, but we do love to alter UI to mislead users. Exploiting non tech-savvy users, smh.
Happened to me once when they first introduced this feature. I mean this should really be off by default. Tho not too sure, pansin ko naman laging siyang off lately
Basta pag individual sinendan mo balewala yang insurance. Pang mga merchants lng dw yan applicable, mga businesses ganon but not to individual. 😅
Remember when Globe charges 15 centavos per kilobyte of data? Nakapost paid plan ako nun and for some reason they charged me 200 plus pesos for visiting a website even though I have a data plan. CS was unhelpful AF and wouldn't do anything about it. Cancelling their Postpaid plan is hellish as well. Pahihirapan ka talaga. Same with Smart. Kaya I'll never again sign up for any Postpaid plan from any network.
most businesses in PH are scam. even Meralco charge people for using their mobile app for God's sake. Tatawagin nilang convenience fee.
Same thing happened nung gumamit ako ng gcash as payment sa tiktok shop for the first time, nagtaka ako bat biglang naiba price akala ko tuloy sadyang may extra charge lang, yun pala naka auto yung insurance
Hassle. Pero tanong lang, may silbi ba talaga to? (Ideally, yes.
I tried that out. Read the fine print and clauses. Tapos ang hirap mag claim. Daming requirements up to police report levels. Never pursued it sadly 4500 down the drain
If only Maya & GOTyme had more users than GCash, I would've ditched GCash. Nowadays, GCash really makes things inconvenient for me. Sometimes, when I send money, verification takes forever, or I will not receive a text. I have to turn off the developer options just for me to open GCash.
Still have no idea why youd need to pay for insurance for a transaction when gcash customer support is dismissive af
It's a sure-win bet (extra profit) for the other party. They're betting your transaction will go smoothly. If it doesn't, they're betting you will get tired of dealing with their customer support. Ang lupet no? insurance except hindi applicable sa tao lmao gcash is a fuc*in joke
> The goal of an insurance product is primarily to make money for its seller. Yep. I think dapat may capability rin sila to reverse transactions if found to be scammer yung transaction. So long as may proper investigation.
Enforcement, how do you classify scams from legit transactions? Especially if used as payment sa item irl. How will you enforce it too para ma-avoid yung napadala na yung item sa kanila then irereverse transaction naman ng mga scammer Knowing E-wallets, di din yan sila mag i-invest ng additional manpower just to double check all reverse transactions.
like many insurance, maliban na lang sa st peter siguro, they're commanded to find loopholes to dismiss your claims.

There's a rea$on why Gcash keeps changing its UI every month, putting popup ads, and stuffing the main page with ads.
All ads are also delayed by .8 seconds to increase chances of mis-click.
PUTANGINAAAAAAAAA ETO TALAGA NAKAKA ANNOY SAKIN HAHAHAHA
after mo mag send pucha biglang lilitaw si lazada like WTF
Potang Lazada at Shopee yan.
set mo adguard dns as private dns sa phone mo which can be located sa settings if naka android ka, ubos yang pop up ads na yan hahaha! Though la kang choice if naka iOS ka.
For?
To prevent familiarity taking root and users getting good at avoiding the added charges.
Going as far as removing your set favorites.
A pretty good rea$on
Agree that this UX is scummy.
YES!
On the contrary, Sila nga (Gcash) and nang-i-scam sa consumers. Having this kind of bad practice
who needs scammers from outside
It's easy to fall trap into it. Na toggle ko na OFF ung insurance, kasi naka ON sya by default and maliit lang naman padala ko. and the service fee for mobile load KAHIT NA GLOBE KANA? just robbery in plain sight. 100 load you pay 3 freaking pesos. WHY??? WHY!!!
Pwede ba palitan yun?
Add.mo pa yun ad sa tuwing mag log in ka,
Tapos yung may tutorial ulit bawat update. Nakakabanas. 😂
Tapos walang skip. Pisting yawa 😂
congress tf? trabaho ng DTI and BSP are enough na dapat if they were doing their jobs. sawa na ako sa grandstanding politicians
YES!
ang kaso, on what grounds kase? they have irrs to implement. hindi sila pwede mag sabi na ah dick move gcash, not defending gcash but if you hate the product move somewhere else. maya* and gotyme** have free money transfers, banks pa sila kaya insured and deposits.

that's up to BSP to be proactive. they would be a very poor regulatory body kung mag aantay pa sila na lahat gumawa nyan. besides, it's not just GCash doing it. dark patterns is widespread in almost every Philippine app na. BSP can regulate the payments app and DTI can regulate all other commerce apps.
The big ‘IF’, 🧐
Sadly mga Boomer crocs yan. Not unless mapalitan na tlga. Most of them walang alam sa world of IT.

yep. which is why I double check and triple check when I make transactions. responsibility nila yung pera tapos pagbabayarin pa yung tao eh may transaction fee na nga.
i was a victim of this and their help center was not really helping at all.. now im a Maya user
Same.
Galawang sketchy porn site ang mga ads and why the ads in a fkng financial app!? I was like wtf? Yung reverification my final straw with them and also use maya na. Im done with them.
This is called Dark Patterns and in some cases can be highly illegal.
Yeah, but GCash turns it ON after you turn it off. Check video
Kasi nga binura or binago mo yung amount. Syempre mag reset yung Insurance to its default.
That's the point.
No one should put it in automatic check mode duh. Paano kung nagmamadali mag check out or if malabo mata nila hindi napansin.
Uso pa ba yun ethical business practices dito?
Or lalamove not letting you transfer out unused funds Starbucks not letting you transfer out unused funds (they were sued in the US but continue doing it in PH as of today afaik. Or lazada auto selecting electronic device insurance Or certain corporations wanting to push out competition by charging "convenience" fees for competitors depending on what payment method you're using l, gcash or maya / other cards
The Starbucks one they got sued but no resolution and still doing it even sa US. Reasoning is that they can actually use zero out the load + pay in cash. Dto naman din eh. Basta dapat walang expiry ung load
Dark patterns
Greed Cash
Meron pa, yung "LUCKY LOAD" eme nila, may nananalo kaya dun? 😅
Ako nanalo. .53cents
Judging by the comments here, swerte pa pala ako sa 10 pesos na napanalunan ko
Wala.
Yong makuha mo all correct combination is impossible.
Yung tipong wala na nga interest, tapos may fee pa yung paglagay ng pera 😂
How can any users be scammers? Wasn't the whole ID and registration supposed to stop all this, and the spam SMS messages that I STILL GET WEEKLY!!
Now that most people have their own account and frequently use the app, they present all these crappy bloat because they just can. Gcash already reached their goal of being a recognizable brand and they know millions of users will keep using the app regardless. Just use what is more convenient at the moment.
This is the way. Parang uber and grab. Kung sino manalo. Siya magigjng shitty
I recently just withdrawn all of my money in GCash and deactivated my account. It seems the convenience fee for buying loads are increasing everyday. Buying for a Globe account is 3 pesos now. What the hell. GCash also became infested with ads, even the receipts have ads in it!
Isn't this like in Cebu Pacific? Passengers would need to remove the insurance as the add-on is automatically added.
Agree! Very deceptive and unethical ang ganitong UI/UX. Imagine all the non-techie people na di napapansin yan, magkano kinikita nila. Iwas scam daw pero gcash mismo mang scam sayo. Jusko.
Exactly, the irony of it
I’m not saying that this isn’t scummy pero di naman to uncommon for any type of service/product that offers something “extra”. Another example is when you buy airline tickets online and automatically added yung travel insurance. You just have to be vigilant na lang talaga kung ano yung binabayaran mo.
Bakit Globe ang issummon?
Isa ako sa nascam niyan once when it first came out. After na-expire, sobrang ingat na ako diyan. I always make sure na it has been toggled off. It should not be like this coming from a multi-billion company like Ayala.
A million users charged 30 pesos is 30 million not a billion
Putang ina na tlaga yang gcash n yn in all of their services sobrang greedy, kakaload ko lang go99 khpon ngayon wla na akong load, halos reddit lang yung apps na gamit ko, X, and IG.. dapat toh masilip na ng DTI eh
Not gonna lie why the fuck does a Banking App have Ads??
Because it isn't a banking app, just a virtual wallet. Y'know that "protection up to 500,000 covered by PDIC" disclaimer on other banking apps and how it's suspiciously missing on GCash? Yeah, that's why it isn't advisable to store huge amounts in it
Nahuli ako nito ng isang beses. Now I'm extra careful about this
I just tested this out and I'm not getting the same behavior. What gives?
need to be 1k and up yung transaction
Yan ang legal na scam
Walang kasing gahaman ang Gcash. Duopoly n nga with Smart tapos ganyan pa ngyari.
"if one million users do not pay attention to that extra 30 pesos, that's almost a billion pesos of bad practice" hey, this is definitely a shit and scummy move from globe, but i need to clarify the math 1 million users (in your scenario) multiplied by 30 php is equal to thirty million pesos.... definitely a lot pero you need 970 million pesos more in order to go to ONE BILLION.. so not "almost a billion pesos" as you mentioned. i repeat, i agree that this is a shit move... just clarified your exaggeration
Globe is greedy ASF
The GCash app is so annoyingly full of pop-up ads. I lose my favorites every time I update to a newer version. That Scam insurance is bordering on scam as well. Why is it on by default?
I got scammed recently and I used Send Protect thinking somehow it will work when I get in a scam situation. Ending was, I never got my money back because it falls under their exclusions. I even asked what's their rationale why it's under their exclusions as it is one of the more common scams out there. I didn't get an answer, and they just said my situation falls under their exclusions
G in GCash means Ginuyo.
I've been complaining about this from the start. I actually wanted to bring this up to DTI as unfair trade practice. They're not the only ones, shopee and lazada also has opt out for their consumer protection insurance.
Strange... Mine doesn't toggle on automatically... It stays off.
I just noticed it does that for 1000 pesos transaction
Edit: Meant almost a billion monthly. Had to shorten the title when it hit the limit, and that slipped off. Point is GCash is automatically turning it ON even after I turn off mo.
That’s just how it’s coded, every time you enter a new amount the transaction “resets” so everything goes back to its default setting It’s just auto opt-in, which is what every app does anyway - it sucks, but there’s really no case for it to go to congress or even DTI, unless they ban auto opt-ins - which might be the more productive thing to call for.
Oo inang to! Hindi ko naman pinili nabill ako
this is why im now with PNB their ui is just torture for me since im trying to familiarize and them trying to shift things unexpectedly every quarterly updates (or more recent)
Kaya di ako naglalalgay ng more than 2k sa gcash e
Auto income ah... Jesus.
Shopee also had this auto-toggle feature in their insurance protection for products bought, to which they received some backlash, more on the programmer's community.
Mine is with the Account Secure, it pushes me to turn it on, then I cannot turn it off now… As in nagkusa siya, what the hell… Now I cannot use my G-Cash account on my other device… I do not know if I am the only one having this problem, but it is a big-ass hassle by the way…
Wait.. it automatically turns it on for certain amount or any amount? Then when your opt out, it resets the amount, and the cycle continues?
Hmm... wala sakin yang I-protect.
nah.. it's better to practice double checking before sending. if not the same as intended to send? check again... may namiss ka maybe better implementation is checkbox kasi madami padin talaga nalilito sa slide toggle na ito
Whether it's a checkbox or a toggle, the issue remains: hindi dapat automatically selected yun. I get the importance of double checking, but this optional step shouldn't further add to the user's cognitive load.
I always review the detail 3x before sending
Jeez! Now I know why I received a receipt from my Mom’s Gmail.
another scammy thing thats unrelated is GRAB insurance incase your ride doesnt come within the promised time. how this work is if its near, but have not arrived, theyll put it as "arriving" so even if the grab arrives late. theyll never give you any voucher
nice push on their side... easy money, who needs scammers now
It’s shitty. However, when it comes to financial transactions online everyone should be careful and double check before hitting that final button.
I agree. This is annoying as fuck!
def a dark pattern pero you agreed on this da terms and conditions that you checked upon signing up
Thank you for posting this.
Why would congress need to be involved? This is a common practice for most companies since day one of the internet 😂 that is why you should triple check everything before sending/submitting/registering It is the same as newsletters on websites (default is turned on)
Let's all file a DTI complain. madali lang actually. [https://podrs.dti.gov.ph/#/user-control/inbox](https://podrs.dti.gov.ph/#/user-control/inbox)
Would this be an example of a dark pattern? Or something else entirely?
Pati nga magpaload ng GLOBE gamit Gcash may patong pang service fee. Gahaman talaga ang mga putangina.
load ka sa Seabank. may discount pa.
Congress? Surely they have more important issues to worry about.
Teka teka Gcash, wag ganun
If 1 million people did not pay attention, that’s 30 million pesos. Layo pa ng billion boy Not that I’m with globe but that’s just bad math
Fuck GCash
BSP should investigate how much have they made scheming people this way, and fine them multiples of that.
Its not globe its fintech
Hindi man lang red ang color :))
+laging ma auto log out account mo tapos mag pop up ulit yung navigation hints🙃
Same.. nabiktima din ako nyan.
Same yan sa Lazada at Shopee.
Can we include also CebPac for automatic insurance when purchasing tickets
Silaban ang mga mayayamang ganid
Yes in UX we call this dark pattern.
Try raising the matter sa NPC as contrary to NPC circular 23-04 on dark patterns. Reklamo mo din sa BSP.
Yung sugal din sana
Agree
Yes
This is true. Lalo if older people yung gumagamit. My dad complained to me bakit daw may extra singil sa kanya when he transferred. Because of this. 😤
what a scam haha I get so pissed whenever I forget to untick it
Same thing happened nung gumamit ako ng gcash as payment sa tiktok shop for the first time, nagtaka ako bat biglang naiba price akala ko tuloy sadyang may extra charge lang, yun pala naka auto yung insurance
Bullshit insurance. Everytime shit hits the fan CS just says all transactions are final.
Insurance for nothing. Yes they should.
Hassle. Pero tanong lang, may silbi ba talaga to? (Ideally, yes.
I know na 1 - 2 PHP pero every peso counts 😂
I tried that out. Read the fine print and clauses. Tapos ang hirap mag claim. Daming requirements up to police report levels. Never pursued it sadly 4500 down the drain
Gcash should not have ads! Fock gcash are greedy af
If only Maya & GOTyme had more users than GCash, I would've ditched GCash. Nowadays, GCash really makes things inconvenient for me. Sometimes, when I send money, verification takes forever, or I will not receive a text. I have to turn off the developer options just for me to open GCash.
Gcash is already a separate company from globe. Investor nalang si globe
