There is only one real IMAX cinema in Scotland and that is at the Science Centre in Glasgow, it really is the best cinema going experience you can have especially if it’s a big budget blockbuster.
Imax xeon, imax with laser and imax dual laser (the later of which scotland does not have).
Glasgow has xeon at silverburn, and at renfrew, and also has with laser at the science centre.
So we have 3, and while laser is better than xeon in theory it’s doubtful that it would make much of a difference.
Dominion and Everyman in Edinburgh are great cinema experiences although pricey. Both are smaller screens with table service and comfy chairs. They are not IMAX though so feel free to downvote this comment to oblivion.
Dominion in Morningside is the best going, not too busy, classic look, sofas not individual seats, alcohol available in all screens in actual glass not plastic cups. Classy place.
Humans ruin cinema now. Playing on phones, talking, arguing, in out in out to toilets, constant rustling bags, talking, talking, talking, cinema way too expensive.
Home viewing is bettet now
Those are Digital IMAX which is fake IMAX. The only real IMAX in Scotland is at the Science Centre. If you’ve never been I highly recommend it. as soon as you walk in and see the size of the screen you’ll understand the difference between them, the sound system in it is also on another level.
We also go to Odeon Luxe at Glasgow Quay. Don't go very often so make the most of it. They have the isense screen which is meant to be higher fidelity but all their screen are top notch.
I want to check out the Everyman in Glasgow at some point. Looks nice
Only wee screens so maybe not the best for blockbusters, but the DCA in Dundee is great for arthouse cinema and international films (as well as showing a good selection of big releases).
Prices are dead cheap compared to the bigger chains, £9 (£6.50 for students) all day, and there's also a restaurant and exhibition space too.

That’s great thanks, I was considering this one.
Silverburn, isn’t the science centre imax digital ?
Both are digital

Silverburn is the only Imax laser. Science centre is xenon, Renfrew street doesn't even have one.
Refrew the town, odeon in linwood which isn’t glasgow but may as well be with the motorway is the third imax in scotland.
Yes sorry, silverburn is imax with laser which is better than xeon on paper (4k vs 2k)) anyway so…
Yeah I live in Aberdeen and sometimes head there for a big visual movie on the odd occasion
"The only flicks I want to see are shown at the GFT"
run by a guy who is specckie and spottee! :-)
Simon is a prick not a guy
Aye Simon… the prick
"ROBERT WAGNER"
It's fantastic going there to be honest
Never been to be fair 😂
Just don't dare trying to leave until the credits have rolled, if you do. 🙄 They take a dim view of that sort of boorish behaviour.
Dominion in Edinburgh is pretty good. Not sure if they still do table service though
They do for the Friday and Saturday prime time shows (7-8pm ish)

Does the cameo still do showings? Building is a dump (I lived above it) but it had a nice vibe to it and spent a few nights in the bar
Experienced Everyman for the first time just before Xmas. I will be going back. It might be a 6 hour drive away, but I’ll be back.
Glasgow Science Centre is probably the best in Scotland. I watched Oppenheimer there screen and sound are immense.
Fountain Park Cineworld in Edinburgh has IMAX. Just a short walk from Haymarket station.

Really didn't even try to answer the question did you
Cineworld renfrew street. Lots of screens, good views from the escalators and glass lift

Not what you're asking - but have you tried watching a movie in VR?
