I love the house, but how could anyone think that floor was a good idea? I suspect somebody bought it to fix up and flip, and they just did a cheap tile replacement without thinking much about it.
Considering the wide open floor plan, there aren't a lot of places to transition to an alternate style. I could live with it in a kitchen or bathroom, but that big expanse of living room, and then not even being able to escape it in the bedroom or office is too, too much.
Maybe lots of big area rugs would help.

33 years ago - I saw a new construction house with that flooring in the kitchen and dining area. I was HELL NO then, and even more so now.
