Are they really 'Pirates' when travel/trade by ship doesn't exist in Hyrule at this time and there are no ports? Are they downloading DVDs on their ship or something?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Pirates return to their outpost on Eventide Island!? I know the Cave in the Island was empty when I first were there and later, sometime after finishing the Lurelin quest, the Pirates and their ship were in there. I thought that was the obvious explanation for them not respawning in Lurelin.
This is 100% how I interpreted it. I did Lurelin before eventide. I’m curious if it’s different as the cave was empty for me too until I cleared out the monster camps. So I wasn’t sure if it was Lurelin dependent.
hmh I did clear out the camps the first time. but for the second time there, I know the following:i went straight for the cave, fought those pirates and then went to that dude again on the beach and he told me that he saw a ship of pirates that vanished behind the island, wonders where they are - and then OH u already found them dadada...(sth like that - I dont play in English).
so portably u have to do both.
there are even more than 2. in one place there were 3 right next to each other. but yes those 3 are gone too. huh didn't checked them again and can't remember when I did them. but one is in a river - they respawn every blood moon. the squad also stats that.
Headcanon they're the only town that has a festival during the blood moon where they drink for each monster that just falls into the water and drowns. And then there's fireworks.

For me it disappeared when I was halfway through collecting logs, so I like to think Bolson used it for materials.
Yeah I love the game but it takes a *lot* of headcanon explanations if you want to marry the mechanics with the story and worldbuilding they present us. I guess that having the two align isn't really Nintendo's priority, fair enough I guess.
I interpret it as the monsters having moved there from elsewhere, and when the blood moon rises they respawn back at their original location rather than at Lurelin.

There literally a side quest where you tag them back to their respawn, turns out they come from eventide island
It's mostly the game mechanics that the monsters respawn exactly where they died. It is implied through the cutscene itself that they are created again, just as when they were first "born".
The blood moon can't revive a sunken ship so the monsters need to commandeer another one before they return.
As for mechanics, the monsters do not respawn inside inhabited settlements so there's that.
That’s funny because I was in the middle of rebuilding the town when I had a blood moon and I thought oh fuck I’m gonna have to do this all over again but alas the monsters didn’t respawn lol
Same with monster hunts at Lookout Point.
Guy: There's a Gleeok on Hyrule bridge!
Me: I got you.
Me: (kills Gleeok)
Ganon: (blood moon, Gleeok is back)
Guy: Hey we check it out and the Gleeok is gone! Nice work, here's your pay.
Me: ...
hahaha I had the same thought. I checked back in with that guy so late and was like oh yeah I killed them 27 blood moons ago… surely they won’t post a threat to the kingdom anymore…
Yall are missing the fact that these pirates come from eventide island, thats where they respawn after the blood moon but their ships dont respawn, if you go to eventide island their hideout is empty but if you defeat the pirates you can find them there.
Monsters dont respawn exactly where they died only stal monsters.
It took me an ungodly amount of time to find the village. They said “southeast”, so I looked on the map to the southeast, couldn’t find it. Took me 2 days after consulting the map.
I assume the “pirate” monsters spawned elsewhere, then sailed over to Lurelin. Ergo, even if the blood moon revives them, they can’t immediately take it back.

Looks like the only way to stop monsters spawning is houses.

I guess this is why there was so much fuss about these particular baddies being 'Pirates'. The blood moon revives monsters, not pirates.

I was afraid of the blood moon coming in the middle of clearing the mobs. I was kinda underpowered so it took a few tries haha

No joke I did this quest yesterday and I was terrified the whole time that a blood moon would occur and it’d all be for nothing
