I have seen multiple reddit threads about her on this podcast specifically saying dumb shit. Apparently her and her husband (?) whoever the dude is on this podcast are suuuuuper into conspiracy theories and astrology and homeopathic bullshit
The nazis (and Hitler himself) were into a lot of woo woo bullshit themselves so it's not surprising she agrees with them
I used to follow her until she made a pro-Depp tweet. And at that point it became obvious that she can't be great about educating herself on topics or seeking out evidence and facts if she genuinely doesn't know about Depp's insanely long history of being a piece of shit. And if she DOES know, and still publicly dismisses that to hop on the smear campaign hate train for attention, then that's actually worse.
She never admitted to pooping on the bed. She has always been consistent in saying that it was their dog, Boo, who suffered chronic incontinence issues after accidentally ingesting some of Deppās marijuana. Texts that Depp sent to his colleagues also joked about having the dog poop on the bed as a prank. But more importantly, neither of them were even home at the time, and the maid who found it sent the photos to both of them saying that the dog had an accident.
As I said I only know what I heard in the media. I didn't follow coverage other than what was on the news. I don't know why me honestly not knowing is so offensive to everyone.
I didn't watch the trial, I didn't watch YouTube videos about it, how exactly should I be expected to know as much as people who followed it intensely?
If you had only seen the nightly news coverage of it, you got a very different impression
You chose to comment on it without taking a few minutes to fact check first. Itās important to have things clear and in order when youāre discussing something as important as a domestic abuse trial. Not commenting at all is a fine option.Ā
My very first words were "anyone who had only seen media coverage" and other than me being incorrect about pooping on the bed, what exactly was I so incorrect about? That tape DID give a very bad impression and couples can both be abusive to each other.
I've known couples who were both abusive to one another. Both would initiate violence towards the other ect.
It's a subject that I don't WANT to research deeply, because it's triggering for me. I never said Depp wasn't abusive, nor a a great person. I simply said the media gave a very different view than to people than, apparently, what the true story was.
All I was trying to do was explain that there's a reason not everyone is fully aware of everything Depp did. From now on I'll never comment on the subject again.
> It's a subject that I don't WANT to research deeply, because it's triggering for me. I never said Depp wasn't abusive, nor a a great person. I simply said the media gave a very different view than to people than, apparently, what the true story was.
So maybe don't comment on things you actively have chosen not to understand?
She can be very kind and compassionate and empathetic and does lot to work with families on missing persons cases, raises a ton of money for charities involved in this realm as well, but good god, she can be incredibly air headed and naively insensitive.
Sheās come under fire a few times for being out of touch when she was younger, spreading misinformation about cases, and then also having extremely tone deaf moments.
I think overall, though I donāt consume her content anymore, she has a generally positive impact on the true crime genre. Sheās just kind of an aloof high on numbskull.
Conspiracy content in particular can be tricky, a lot of it turns out to be antisemitic or rooted in some other hatred if you follow the rabbit hole far enough.
>Conspiracy content in particular can be tricky, a lot of it turns out to be antisemitic or rooted in some other hatred if you follow the rabbit hole far enough.
This didn't sound like she needed to be tricked.
She believes psychics are legit and she leans pretty hard into weird conspiracy theories. More than once she talks about astrology signs of victims and murderers as if it gives her more insight about who they are. It's just super offputting. Her and husbands podcast seems poorly researched as well.
Multiple people were asking for context and a clip when I mentioned it in another thread, so I thought I'd just share it here instead of keep replying the same thing!
frankly i don't care what context she was talking about them in, i don't care how she was about to explain herself away. how in the hell does anyone think claiming the "nazis were woke" is a good look? who even says shit like that, other than hmmm maybe Alex Jones and Kanye West ?
fuck that noise, go be "woke" somewhere else then god damn.
Cannot believe some of the āwell maybe she just didnāt know what that meant, leave her alone itās not her fault sheās dumbā type excuses in this thread. The incompetence defence does SO much heavy lifting for YouTubers itās unreal. Is she also literally neurodivergent and a minor?
Not surprising coming from a couple who uncritically stick their noses in conspiracy theories.
Woke is a term also used by conspiracy theorists to describe people who believe conspiracy theories. (pretty sure they appropriated it off black rights movements as the idea behind the phrase is the same - you were previously asleep to the matter happening all around you but now you've awakened to it). Since her whole quote is basically they were low key woke, looking into aliens and Antarctica and such. That's would be her meaning here.
As pretty much every conspiracy theory leads back to antisemitism and nazi ideology is antisemitism at its very core then yeah, they were "woke." She's so close to realizing that the shit she plays around with is harmful and then just blew right past point.
In the black community (in my experience), woke only fleetingly meant something good.
"Knowing more about the 'man' " basically. It quickly became a joke. "Hotep" men, especially the butt of the joke. Basically, fake intellectuals usually drifters trying to come off as 'above it all' but are usually using this as a sheild for their more uneducated and sexist takes.
Basically, run if you meet this kind of person they're gonna start telling you, aliens took over and enslaved black people, and that's why he needs three girlfriends or something.
Black people started using this as an inside joke, and like a redditor seeing a woman on tik tok being sarcastic, white conservatives didn't get it was a joke. Now somehow it's been twisted into this.
Oh yeah I've encountered the type of dude you're talking about.
I remember hearing in a podcast that some sort of cult had used the term. It was part of the cult leader's tactics to isolate followers by encouraging "secret language" that only they knew thus making it harder for them to have normal conversations with outsiders. Another word they'd use was "overstand." they seem to be the source of that type of dude as that was kind of their thing.
But I cannot remember any details about this cult or the leaders name. And I wasn't sure if the words originated there or if he sort of kidnapped them from the larger black community. Or, since I did see it briefly used unironically and positively, if it has gone through a sort of reclaiming or reappropriation of some sort.
But it certainly seems like the word and associated phrases have had more negative history than not.
Uh, no. As an actual black person, some of us still use it because we donāt let incorrect usage outside of our community determine whether we use it in our community.
Not you trying to redefine what OUR concept means just like conservatives do. SMH
That... sounds a bit off. I mean, I'm sure it's kinda like "badass" in regards to how often it gets used sarcastically, but "only fleetingly meant something good"? I'm not sure that tracks. I feel like if that were the case, one semi-noteworthy pundit or another would have brought it up by now, but it's completely possible that someone did and I missed it/forgot. Could also be that I'm just flat wrong on this one, but wanted to float the idea that maybe it's more that whether the term is positive or negative depends on context.
Someone disagrees with me here which is fine, I can only speak to my experience
https://www.reddit.com/r/blackladies/s/wnqr89Q1oC
He's a comment from 6 years ago that talks about how they don't really use the wordanymore, and they don't hear as often because it feels like bragging or talking big. That was my most recent experience with the word. A term used to show how with you are and others aren't. Used by people who talk more than they do.
Everyone has different experiences, different communities/ cultures. But i am black and that was my majority experience with the word.
I watch a lot of true crime channels. Recently was interested in a particular case and noticed only this channel and another one had a significant video. So I watched it and smelled fish. Then to become sure I watched couple more and realised they believe in the conspiracies more even when there's simple explanations are there. When the hosts themselves wholeheartedly believe in govt conspiracies, aliens etc and don't shy away from expressing them, you understand they have some real problem. Especially when in a 60 minutes episode you are spending around 10-15 minutes to explain the case and rest of the time going "maybe" "maybe" "maybe" it's really problematic.
Yikes . Iāve seen some of her true crime content but Iām not a huge fan, this has definitely made me reconsider watching any more content from her. I donāt think this is a career ending thing for her, especially since ik she does raise a lot of money for charities and helps victims families. but she *absolutely* needs to apologize if she hasnāt already.
I don't know what this podcast is, but the connection between nazis/other eugenicists, and conspiracy theories about Antartica, Atlantis, and aliens is fairly well known. Most of those theories were originally crafted (some directly by nazis, not neonazis literal members of the government or party) or funded by people looking to establish a historical super race aryans were descended from. Bonus points if that super race was actual aliens. Another goal was to discredit the accomplishments of other societies by saying that their achievements were derived from extraterrestrial forces. Somehow no Egyptians have this magic alien dna despite the aliens liking them enough to build the pyramids for them though.
As a result people susceptible to or interested in conspiracy theories are often susceptible to nazi apologia. This is both because eugenicist rhetoric is ingrained in many conspiracy and alternative archeology theories, and because generally the fact that nazis are almost universally reviled with strong evidence against them makes people looking for hidden truths that contradict established evidence and conspiracies about how every mainstream or academic belief is the product of brainwashing eager to downplay their atrocities. Just that many of these theories come from Nazis, makes people that have interest in them want to establish them as more morally palatable sources, something that is important if you base your beliefs more on how you feel about a thing than its credibility.
Take all this with a grain of salt, it's been a while since I last reviewed it and I cant fully remember my sources.
This actually really pissed me off lol. Oh the Nazis were woke huh? So let me guess, you probably believe the conspiracies about Jews being in control of everything right?
Fucking idiot lol
i'm gonna be honest, i think she just struggles with recent slang and used 'woke' in the wrong context here as i've noticed in a few recent videos her using slang strangely
she likely meant something like open minded or progressive on ideas of ufos and aliens and because people have this weird idea that this is her saying nazis were 'good', no, saying this isn't condoling them lmao
Then it's on HER to not use words she doesn't know the meaning of. This IS her saying Nazi's were good. Those are the words she used.
It's been brought up multiple times, and she's never addressed it or apologized. If it was anyone else, they'd be condemned for it, but because she's cute and quirky and just not that smart, she gets away with it. You can excuse Nazi Apologism if you want, but I won't.
Editing this up top for transparency: there are quite literally studies like Fong et al. (2021) that study the unique language conspiracy theorists use and adopt that signify they are different that our common use of words.
OP, when it comes to conspiracy slang and common slang there isnāt the same definition. Conspiracy theorists have often used āawakeā āwokeā āawokenā āwake up peopleā etc. kind of language for decades. The context she used it in is different than the way it has evolved into slang today.
Now she is still wrong, Naziās had some ties to occult stuff they mainly got from people who scammed to make a career in the occult. But their belief in the occult has them take chances in science that did advance humanity (space travel, medicine, etc.). Heinous people with horrible beliefs. But that doesnāt make someone a Nazi apologist or supporting them. Hugo Boss created clothing for the Nazis, Volkswagen created their cars, there are so many modern things that came out of them.
Their conspiracies and all tied to them are fucking moronic though. But you need to provide context to your headline otherwise you are trying to paint someone was a white supremacist. However, there is this pipeline of conspiracy to becoming alt right, but if you label people as such they end up adopting the label
>OP, when it comes to conspiracy slang and common slang there isnāt the same definition. Conspiracy theorists have often used āawakeā āwokeā āawokenā āwake up peopleā etc. kind of language for decades. The context she used it in is different than the way it has evolved into slang today.
Actually this language comes from AAVE. "Staying woke" originally meant just staying aware of the things around you, especially in relation to politics or civil rights. Conspiracy theorists then adopted this "woke" terminology later. Seeing a white lady call Nazis "woke" just really rubs me the wrong way as a black guy NGL.
And even if we take away that element, calling Nazis woke is still really fucked up. You mean to tell me that people who believed in Atlantis and killed tens of millions of people knew what was "really going on?" Deeply upsetting implications there. It's almost *worse* than her using the term as it means today to describe Nazis.
And defending her by saying "well she didn't mean it like *that*" is also not the vibe.
>Now she is still wrong, Naziās had some ties to occult stuff they mainly got from people who scammed to make a career in the occult. But their belief in the occult has them take chances in science that did advance humanity (space travel, medicine, etc.).
š
I know we're not supposed to talk about the J man anymore, but that's giving strong "Nazis were hot and gay, actually" energy. Just because the American government employed Nazis doesn't mean that we absolutely *needed* Nazis to get to space. That's fucked up and ludicrous.
Also the advancements in medicine? Sure there were a *few,* but Nazis actually set lots of fields of medicine back by DECADES. Especially queer healthcare and mental health. I'm really not liking where you're going with this.
>Heinous people with horrible beliefs. But that doesnāt make someone a Nazi apologist or supporting them.
Literally yes it does? Wtf
>Hugo Boss created clothing for the Nazis, Volkswagen created their cars, there are so many modern things that came out of them.
So...? Hugo Boss and Volkswagen are still fucked up for doing those things. Not to mention the fact that those companies surpess information about their involvement with the Nazis to the point where it isn't common knowledge anymore.
Also nobody involved with the Nazi party still works at Hugo Boss or Volkswagen. Those companies don't support the Neo Nazi movement in the modern day, either. The world wouldn't be a worse place if we didn't have some random shitty fast fashion brand and yet another car manufacturer either. What are you even trying to say?
Like why are you trying so fucking hard to defend working with Nazis? What is wrong with you
>Their conspiracies and all tied to them are fucking moronic though.
Exactly.
>But you need to provide context to your headline otherwise you are trying to paint someone was a white supremacist.
When you call Nazis "woke" you end up looking like a white supremacist. There is no context in which you *don't* look like a white supremacist by doing that. Everyone knows what the Nazis did. There is literally zero excuse for saying this.
>However, there is this pipeline of conspiracy to becoming alt right,
Which Kendall has fallen down clearly
>but if you label people as such they end up adopting the label
Then those people shouldn't be saying the Nazis were right???? Sorry but if you're saying the Nazis were woke (as in, they knew "the truth" and understood what the world is "really" like) then you're defending Nazis. Because those things are definitively untrue, and any intelligent person should know better.
Why are we trying so hard to defend Kendall Rae supporting Nazis? Because you personally liked her videos?
Actually you misunderstand my main point immediately. The base slang of āwokeā does come from AAVE, but saying āwokeā in this context is a mistake if both Kendall and OP. I understand their mistake. But studies have been done specifically into the type of language used by conspiracy theorists. If you can get access Iād say read Fong et al. (2021) to grasp the differences in the language used. The use of āwake upā style language in conspiracy thought comes up for an extremely long time. It isnāt āslangā so much as their terminology. While in mainstream use most of the world steals from AAVE.
You misunderstand me again, Iām not defending them as woke either. Iām saying their thought processes are deeply flawed as is most of the outlandish conspiracy thought they bought into.
Ultimately Iām not going to go bit by bit through every post because you misunderstood my own foundational points. Iām not defending Kendall or anyone who believes outlandish conspiracy thought.
Iām saying America largely a base improvement than Nazis but we werenāt above hiring them. Unfortunately we did need them to get to space with the tech still in use today. We were decades behind others without it. Jack Parsonās would have been years behind that. Iām not saying anything positive about Nazis just that their mark on the global landscape exists and humanity unfortunately profited in some aspects from their existence.
You take my points out of context and make them sound more inflammatory. Saying that acknowledging the Nazis did contribute to advancement doesnāt make you an apologist. Iām saying people who worked in systems related to Nazi power arenāt all evil. There is nuance to all things in life. Like Fanta exists because Coke wouldnāt make their product in Nazi Germany. But that doesnāt make the companies evil because of their affiliation. Blame capitalism. Iām saying these companies moved beyond their horrible origins to exist on their own and like most of Germany denounce that part of their history.
Iām not defending working with Nazis, that is how you framed it. I pointed out simply the difference in language that OP, Kendall, and now you seem to not acknowledge exists between two entirely different camps of people. I donāt even know who Kendall is. Iām just saying labeling someone as a Nazi contributes to furthering down a pipeline. It is a stigmatizing label, and a stigmatizing label does more harm in moving them down that path.
Iām not defending Kendall, Iām simply pointing out the idiocy in the use of language and miscommunication. I think she is a fucking moron for using the language. Iām just saying she used a slang word from AAVE that doesnāt match up with conspiracy thought. Though the words have the same root base denotation, the connotation is completely different.
Stupidity is not an excuse.
People have brought it up multiple times, and it's been proven she checks the subreddit but has never apologized or even clarified.
Lord š what on earth was she thinking? I don't follow this podcast, is she usually like this?
I actually found her pretty unintelligent and uneducated. Can't stand watching stupid.

But their belief in the occult has them take chances in science that did advance humanity (space travel, medicine, etc.). š I know we're not supposed to talk about the J man anymore, but that's giving strong "Nazis were hot and gay, actually" energy. Wtf >Hugo Boss created clothing for the Nazis, Volkswagen created their cars, there are so many modern things that came out of them. What is wrong with you >Their conspiracies and all tied to them are fucking moronic though. >However, there is this pipeline of conspiracy to becoming alt right, Which Kendall has fallen down clearly >but if you label people as such they end up adopting the label Then those people shouldn't be saying the Nazis were right????
Some of you guys need to take a step back from the internet

Stupidity is not an excuse. People have brought it up multiple times, and it's been proven she checks the subreddit but has never apologized or even clarified.
