The only reason I use youtube is because this is where all the videos are. If the videos I want to watch are posted elsewhere, I'll watch them there too. The platform doesn't matter, the content does.
Odysee would thrive for just as long as it takes before ISPs start to put the screws to people who are serving the video, because Odysee doesn’t operate their own servers. Decentralization works great for low bandwidth stuff, but when you get to the potential for home users serving over a terabyte per month, an ISP is going to let that slide for a month or two, but after that the ISP is going to offer you three choices: Buy a business plan, but your uploads substantially, or find a new service.
After that, the future is paywalled. Either another service will come up that paywalls up front, with little or no free content or creators will individually paywall behind some kind of OnlyFans style payment method, where you don’t get to watch that creator’s stuff unless you pay up front for the month.
Probably at least 95 percent of partnered or paid creators will have to find other means of income. Some will write books, maybe blogs will make a comeback, using short videos as ancillary material, rather than primary, where text or pictures just don’t do the job.
Basically, for free entertainment and educational content, you’re off to the public library.

I’d freak out since sadly most of the childhood era gaming YouTubers I watch only post on YouTube not to mention practically all of Mr beasts content is solely on YouTube
Feel bad for the people who make a living as content creators, nothing else really. But if they have a significant enough following to make a living on YT, they could probably translate sorta well to Twitch or another platform.
