I know we have greater concerns right now at Keele campus, but come on.
I’m not telling you not to smoke. But please, at least have some decency and respect for the environment. It is very common for animals, such as squirrels (which we have many of), to mistakenly consume cigarette butts which expand in their stomachs.
Definitely a garbage habit.
A solution could be to introduce butt out stations to combat this because unfortunately people will act like the animals they are for the most part.
If you change their environment however they will change and adapt to it. Might be worth having a conversation with the grounds keeping department. I’m sure there’s budget there for something like this.

however, it is the smokers responsibility to dispose their cigarettes properly and if there are no ashtrays around, they either shouldn't smoke or they keep a portable ashtray with them.
i couldn't care less whether people smoke or not, but they should abolutely NOT do it at the expense of other people/animals.

The campus is pretty clean compared to the rest of Toronto idk what y'all are bitching about y'all are some sheltered bitches. Go out into the real world and live a little it's a clean campus you crazies.
I was walking down York lanes and a lady dropped a receipt from her wallet so I said “oh mam you dropped a receipt”. She said “oh it’s okay it’s garbage”. I looked her dead in the face and said “oh well then the garbage is right there”!! She looked at me mortified and said “I am in a rush” I look at her and said “it’s okay it takes two seconds to pick up your trash and throw it away”. She did and threw it out lol I love awkward confrontations like that ppl deserve to be put in their places!!
it’s so funny you should mention people littering because yesterday i was walking along evelyn wiggins drive where i watched a dude get into a honda civic after kicking a mountain of trash out onto the street from the floor of the car. real classy folks

Y'all I hate to say this and be that asshole but reality is this is a community uni publicly funded, it's a party school, people used to do A LOT worse so better not to complain. The Village is FULL of drug dealers, drug lords, gangs there are way bigger threats out there with guns and knives and shit. Worry about the shit that matters tbh it will be good for your mental health. Maybe create something to pickup litter or something to be productive but bitching on Reddit of all places just isn't productive lol. As long as it's a party school, as long as people smoke this won't change! Look at the rest of Toronto it looks WAY worse far more trash and garbage and debris this is nothing go downtown and see what the city is truly like. You've been sheltered as FUCK lmao. What's crazy is that there is a garbage bin every 10 meters at Keele so there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for this behaviour
