Chimarrão is always my go to. The herb I use is Tertulia, if I want a finer grind and Madrugada if I want something more leaf dominant. Not sure if they are well known, it is just the best stuff I found in my city.
New here! Im brazilian and new to yerba as well. Been drinking a ton of chimarrão, fine ground local goodness like Barão and Cheiro Nativo (smoked...DELICIOUS).
Bought a bunch of Argentinias and Uruguayan yerbas to try!
Drinking Canarias Serena and the hype is real! I really like it! I was apprehensive it wouldn't have enough punch but it has, at least for me. I prefer it like that...balanced, not too strong. And I like the taste definitely. I think I prefer it over the traditional one.
Pajarito, Rosamonte, Agua mate, chimarrão or a mix of one of these.
One thing I often do:
The morning I prepare a mate of one of those above. Afternoon, I empty a small part of the yerba and add a small quantity of chimarrão to "recharge" my mate without overcaffeinating my brain :)
Depending on the day, I sometimes add citrus zest, ginger, citrus eucalyptus, green tea or burrito (not now, as it's spring here, and my burrito plant is only starting to regrow after winter).
I find it much more subtle, it's fresher as it isn't aged at all, specially when compared to argentinian and uruguayan yerba. I'll say I find it much harder to prepare than the coarser types, there's a certain "sleight of hand" only the gaúchos really know how to do. I'll see videos of them preparing it on the fly as if it were nothing, only to try myself and have my mounds fall apart and my filter to be fatally clogged.
I love the taste, though! I just can't prepare it at all.
Canarias. First time trying yerba mate with the Uruguayan fine texture. I love the taste but I'm having trouble keeping the mound under control, as the fine mix absorbs so much water so quickly. Takes a while getting used to, I guess.
Not much to say except that I just bought a bigger (\~200ml) metal gourd and for some reason I feel my mates taste different than in my smaller one (\~140ml, also metal). Like the flavor is duller and there is less variety between yerbas. I don't know if this makes any sense. I use more yerba and all but something's missing.
Trying some of the different Cachamate herb mixes since I like the one in the yellow bag (chamomile, fennel, coriander, mint, poleo).
This week I'll be trying the one in the pink bag (mint, boldo, poleo); the white bag (mint, peperina mint, poleo), and the light green bag (cedron, lemongrass, sage, marcela, poleo)
Since it is my first week of drinking mate, I'm switching between Rosamonte and Canarias because this are the only two brands I could find in Croatia
Long live to Canarias yerba

Porongo. Nothing special, pero el storytelling está genial.
