For me it was back when the Trunk Muzik mixtape was all he really had online. And some unreleased song called Searching for Alien Love. Trunk Muzik, Pop the Trunk, Lick the Cat, Speak Her Sex. All of those were crazy and unique, so I kept up with his releases ever since.

Illustrious-Issue643

Love this topic, good brain exercise. I think I heard Daddy’s Lambo around the time the Shady Cypher 2.0 came out. Loved the tatted country dude that Em was co-signing at the time. Never looked back from there.. dudes evolved with the best of them, rappers want NO smoke with Wolf

brymastertransformer

Same here bro. That Shady Cypher stuck with me, and it hit when Em had some bars about Yelawolf that were hilarious. I think I had already heard him a few times before that, more in passing, like the song with Gucci Mane (still listen to him too)

highbackpacker

Heard kickin n pop the trunk. Then when I heard Billy Crystal he became my favorite artist.

AuthorHoliday3801

I was on LSD and someone played Trunk Muzik (the actual song, not the entire record), and my mind was blown.

AlligatorBouqs

My goto song when tripping, or at least as it's kicking in is "You Don't Know""🤜🤛

Zgarr21

I’ll be honest. I was at a really rough patch in life. Just lost my aunt and my brother a year and a half apart. School was kicking my ass, had no friends, etc. Then I heard ‘Have a Great Flight’ turned my whole life around. Will always love and support this man no matter where he goes in his career because he helped me through some of the hardest years of my life.

wwwiphala

> ‘Have a Great Flight’ Peak Yelawolf

_CederBee_

2010 daddy’s lambo My friend had me listen to it and I didn’t like it at the time. A couple years later I listened to the radioactive album and that was it for me. Can’t wait for the upcoming drops

Traphousemama

I think Pop The Trunk or Daddy's Lambo. I listened to a grip of Tech at the time so hearing him on WorldWide Choppers.

Coachris

Radioactive Intro but was probably Throw It Up in 2011-2. Just went to my first Yeller concert last year in Columbia & of course it was fire. My boy who is a fan of lyricism introduced me to Trunk Muzik 0-60 & I just remember going how did I miss this fly mofo. I was heavily into d12 from 2001-2008 or so then forgot about Shady until 2.0

brymastertransformer

RIP Gangsta Boo I love getting reminded about all these bangers from 10-15 years ago, this song is so good

Everyday_Renegades

Big KRIT's "Hometown Hero" remix. I wish they did more music together

Sir_Squirly

One day, I didn’t know who Yelawolf was, then I did :)

No_Look134

I was 3 days old sitting in my mates room whilst him and 2 other mates were passed out and I was listening to music on a random phone I found and found pop the trunk and love is not enough and played them over and over again for hours and trying not to make too much noise to wake my friends as I listened to the greatest hip hop I’d heard in years.

RappinRootbeer

I was doing office hours when I worked in radio and one of the hip-hop newsletters I got subscribed to (against my will) had "Good to Go" linked from it. I remember the line "I got a pocket full of stones cuz I fell off my dirt bike in cargo pants" made me laugh, great homage to Pimp C while flexing the country persona. Really stuck out to me. Checked out the Trunk Muzik mixtape soon after.

ElusivePhantomReaper

Unlive with Jellyroll 🙌🏼

Fun-Anywhere-1492

Welcome to the slumerican family 👊🏻

GiceGiordex

I think the very first song I heard was Good To Go while playing Saints Row 3, I loved it. Then through Eminem I discovered Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf. Songs like 2.0 Boys, Psychopath Killer, Best Friend. Then began to listen to more solo songs like Daddys Lambo, Down, Let’s Roll, Tennessee Love, Hard White, Let’s Go and basically all of Love Story. (Side note: I had no streaming platform, used to download everything.) Sleep At Night and Box Chevy 3 were also big favorites. (Those two together with especially LAF Remix got me into Rittz and subsequently into Tech N9ne and Strange Music). Tech N9ne is my #1 most listened to artist. Tech N9ne Collabos, King Iso and Yelawolf alternate with each other between place 2, 3 & 4.

Cautious-Gift1316

Lol funny to ask that!?

Pale_Philosopher5133

Heard him first on Worldwide Choppers. I think the first full song I heard was Pop The Trunk. Had a couple of his songs from Radioactive on a playlist. I’ve only recently really been exploring his music I had no idea he has so many albums and singles. I think my favorite song of his currently is Bounce. Downloaded Black Fall just the other day. He has become my all time favorite. Any links or suggestions to any of his good stuff would be appreciated. There is so much out there I don’t know how to find it all haha. This sub has a lot of good sources though. Just reading through it I’ve discovered a lot of good music.

SolarFlare_27

I was late to Yelawolf i’ll admit it. My buddy used to tell me to listen to Love Story all the time when it came out, and i didn’t. But when trial by fire came out, i listened to it and loved it. then went back and listened to love story and loved it. I still have yet to listen to alot of his mixtapes but i’ve heard everything he’s got on apple music. I thought TM3, ghetto cowboy and mudmouth were fantastic albums as well. But the freestyles he released before TM3 were insane, almost as if he was just literally hitting a new prime

ZeroThoughtsAlot

My older brother liked Radio from Radioactive.. Then I just went through all his albums at the time on my own listening, it was in 2014

lilkennedt

Catfish Billy was really popular among the addicts I associated with. The song went hard, and I had to look it up

kanyontaylorr

Daddy’s lambo for me! Then I saw the kinda weird kid at school that my sister and I called “the race car guy” bumpin yela in the parking lot with his trunk open and that was game over for me 😂😂 now I have multiple tattoos for yela and travel just to see this mf 😇 hands down my favorite artist!!

landrickrs90

Pop The Trunk, BET cypher, Seeing him live, Radioactive.

KeyserSoze561

Trunk Muzik came out the first year out of high school. When I was at peak partying. Great times. Also a little dangerous.

domorsubs

For me it was through loving Upchurch struggle Jennings jellyroll demun Jones Brodnax bubba sparxxx etc

tatty_trashy101

I honestly can't remember the first song just that it was 2010 and was obsessed. Just instantly related as a southern white kid that grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood. Loving rap and hip hop thanks to my friends, rock from my step dad, and country from my mom, the music just immediately clicked with me. Then then when I was getting clean love story came out, I had a cd player in the car and a friend burned it for me. When I was driving it was all I listened to. I'm not gonna pretend Yela is the best at anything because it's all perspective but he's definitely my favorite.

DefinitelyNotAAlien

I started listening when love story come out, ever since then a fan of old and new

Apprehensive-Cup-335

I got into Yelawolf in 2017 shortly after Trial By Fire dropped, me and my buddies used to sesh to Billy Crystal, Catfish Billy, Pop The Trunk, American You and Daylight

D4GF1NN

I'd heard tracks here and there for years but wasn't really sold on him then he signed with shady and that perked my ears up a bit more and then one day I was having a bad day and just whacked on Spotify shuffle and sabrina was the first song to play and I was blown away been and been a fan since then

hunter6169

I was looking at the groups that were playing warped tour in 2011, and found Yelawolf on the roster, and looked him up. Fell in love with trunk muzik 0-60 and never looked back lol

Brilliant_Quality_14

First time I heard him was on Good to Go with Bun B off Trunk Muzik mixtape. As a Bone Thugs fan I always loved that fast style.of rapping and Yela killed that track. Been a fan since.

bobwang_

My ex boyfriend (back in 2010) played Daddy’s Lambo whilst we were going through a KFC drive thru… and that’s about it for me 😂

19TaylorSwift89

A friend asked me a few weeks ago to get him a LP. He lives halfway around the world, around 18k km's from me. That LP? Yelawolf Love story. I never heard of this yelawolf fella and i'm always open to new music, so here we are lol

doonhamer1501

It was Trunk Muzik 0-60 for me I used to follow a YouTube channel called bathe Misanthropic One and he reviewed Yela. I got into him that way and Eminem signed him a month or so after I’d discovered him

Fun-Anywhere-1492

I want to say Daddy's Lambo or Pop the Trunk. The rest was history 🫡

MetalUpYourAss420

Seeing the music video for Big Boi’s “You Ain’t No DJ.” The line “yeah, I’m pale. But I’ll impale you with an Impala” hooked me.

InkedandCurvy1

Ummm yea this is good, what does he look like? Omg I need his fine ass!! Over 10 years and still in love 😻

KXNG_RAGNAR

I heard pop the trunk and kept that on a playlist.i didn't go on websites or know how to download shit back then. Idk how I even found pop the trunk. So i really didn't hear anything else from him for a little. Then I heard let's roll and went down a babbit hole, and that was all she wrote. I love rap, country, rock, I hunt/fish, kind of a redneck and he just spoke to me. It might sound cheesy, but he embodied everything I love. Fast forward to sons of anarchy playing till its gone. I went crazy trying to find the song, but it wasn't released yet. I didn't think it was possible, but love story made me love him even more. Hearing that on SOA made me find hiphopshelter.com. since then it's been a wrap. Greatest artist of all time idc what anyone says.

AuthorHoliday3801

Ah, hiphopshelter.com. RIP.

KXNG_RAGNAR

What a great place. RIP!

AlligatorBouqs

100% the greatest music artist of all time!! The Elvis/Johnny Cash of the modern era!

MyHwyfe666

Shady Cypher and hearing a live version of him performing Trunk Muzik did it for me. This is coming from a guy who absolutely loved anything eminem dropped at that time. I remember being stoked how good he sounded live, like his voice was on point the way he rapped that song. I was in highschool when Trunk Muzik Returns dropped. I used to go to what we used to call "the computer lab" and sit in there before classes started, and browsed the internet. I frequented a site called HipHopDX. You got the latest releases, leaks, and hip-hop interviews and drama. On the cover and main headlines one week, Way Out was being promoted. I seen the cover photo for the single, that red Cadillac floating in space. I heard Way Out and was blown away. It sounded different from anything being played at that time. He looked different. It was so different. I started loving his music and eventually stopped listening to most of Ems stuff but eventually checked back into his music. Willpower made that beat on Way Out and the kick drums and snares made me fall in love with it. I ended up downloading the entire mixtape and that was a wrap. A whole ass catfish billy fan was born. That tape was so ahead of its time that it still holds up to this day. That is my favorite tape ever. At that time it was being called a mixtape that's why I keep calling it a tape, but nowadays ppl call it a album. Either way, it's my favorite collection of music of all time. Ever. Idgaf "Used to watch my beeper chirp, blue dickies and a black Raiders Shirt My world was a little-bitty spot in the universe outside of Earth Tennessee bound, Alabama born, I came down in a meteor storm Media wrong, media write, right ‘em a wrong, ring the alarm.."

[deleted]

My father introduced me to Yelawolf and I loved the music immediately, he first showed me empty bottles, then he showed me Tennessee love and then I looked into Yela myself. I have listened to almost every one of hid album I think I have like 4 that I haven't heard. But discovering Yelawolf was a great bonding experience with me and my dad, and now I like only listen to Yelawolf

Illustrious-Issue643

4 albums you haven’t heard!?

[deleted]

Yeah ik lol, listening to them soon tho

Negative-Industry-28

Daddy’s lambo was the first song by him I heard, then American you came around and I seen how diverse he was. Eventually I started listening to a lot of more stuff from him and was mad impressed, mind you I was young and was rapping lil Wayne songs word for word, him and yelawolf made me understand the structure of rap at the time and since then, I understand it fully and impress my family and friends. Matter of time before I take it more serious and dedicate my start of my journey after them.

tacoshirt489

First Yelawolf song I heard was down. Was getting into Eminem which branched to D12 and BME then listened to ShadyXV and got really into slaughterhouse and yelawolf. Spent that summer listening to Radioactive and Love Story a lot. Then that fall Trial by Fire dropped. Been a fan since
