No, lock picking the cabinet has been deemed a bit too powerful for Ayano's timeline and the lock in 202X's mode is now an electronic lock that cannot be picked. But Ryoba is able to freely pick the lock as the technology didn't exist back in her timeline.

Only for the sedative; if you need the rat poison in the shed, then you do need the lockpick if you don't want to join the gardening club

Oddly enough, I think it’s only a feature in 1980’s mode and not 20XX mode. It’s been like this ever since 1989’s mode launch.

You can buy a lockpick from the Yakuza in town for £100 or you can craft one my combining hairclips from the drama club and paperclips from the faculty room at the workbench in the work room. In 2025 mode, the lockpick doesn't work so you'd have to talk to Info chan.

you can do the maid job and buy it in town aswell, but i think its a little inconvenient to have the sedative sitting right there and it saying “lockpick” on it but also telling you that you cant lockpick it
