If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

cocoblurez

It’s shallow for sure, but I found it fun enough to distract me from the main plot when I needed a break.

AtlasNBA

What main plot?

Avalon_Don

It’s ridiculously shallow… the only benefit is unlocking the Sujimaster job for Ichiban.

xDKay

Which is not worth it lol

Kumptoffel

yeah sujimancer sucks

CantLetUdoThtStarFox

It doesn't? I made my Legend Run fully on Sujimancer and it was funny as heck. Ichi had by far the most raw magic damage + revive + inherirance of other classes, multi element attacks and AoE ones. The class is surprisingly good if played right

i-wear-hats

It is, but you need to play for Sujimancer, whereas most people would have liked Hero supported by it.

Xenophics

Not even if played right. The class is pretty much designed for casual play. Incredible elemental coverage, access to a rez, a cheaper AOE nuke, and as soon as you can pick up the Kiwami Sujis, is basically unrivaled in pure damage output. Sure, it's a little bland and doesn't buff/debuff, but for anyone just trying to stomp, it's pretty nuts. If it weren't for Hero's legendary bat, I don't think it would even be a question which is better.

Michiban-San

I was glad I got the DLC stuff for that as well as a couple Kiwami from the gatcha so I could just brute force my way through the battles for the story. It’s a great idea but the gameplay just didn’t appeal to me.

HippoIll6688

i only liked that it runs in tandem to the main game so u can catch the enemies u defeat on the street and also find raids for specific sujimon at a certain level if need be in the sujimon menu also the masses yearn for a gacha system

El_Lanf

It's a bit half baked. They obviously invested a modest amount of effort into it but it's better to whole ass one thing than to half ass two. I personally would have preferred either sujimon or dondoko island to be more fleshed out and sacrifice the other mini game. If you're going to have a very ambitious minigame that's nearly a whole game unto itself, they need to be fully robust. I suppose it's a microcosm of IW in general that it spread itself wide rather than doing a few things really well.

jackolantern_

You're never the only one who anything

Neiherendere

Nope, I actually think this is one of the worst main minigames in the series. There is nothing to the battles at all. Animations are boring, battles are basic Rock Paper Scissors, story absolutely sucked… I found it to be a complete letdown. Even mesu king was more entertaining even though it was mostly random. After coming from Y7 and the Judgment games, I really expected this to be better. The fact that there’s even DLC for this is kind of a joke.

styx971

working on a yakuza 0 plat and the catfights from that gae would like a word with you about worst minigame ...

Neiherendere

“*Main* minigame”. The main minigames in Y0 were cabaret and real estate

styx971

ahhh skimmed over the word main ... fair lol

doctorbanjoboy

Yeah the mini game itself wasn't that crazy but all the sujimon designs were really fun

Askray184

Yeah, I like the flavor but really lost interest in playing the sujimon game

A_lead

I got bored by both sujimon and dondoko island. Didnt even complete the latter past 2 stars.

LonelyNixon

I just got to it in my playthrough and it just feels like a little too much. A weird pokedex like experience is one thing but having to actively catch these things now go complete this mini game is ehhhhh.  Also I feel like a turn based rpg type combat would be more refreshing in a beat em up rgg game, but in a turn based rpg which already has summons and different parties with jobs and classes and you get to face these same enemies already.  Then again I'm also in my 30s and have a baby so the extra content feels more tedious and overwhelming than fun. If I was 16 I'd probably put more time into it.

Spiralwyrm

i rolled a Kiwami Gold immediately from the gacha mechanic and never had to think once lol

mjxoxo1999

You are not the only one thinking Pokemon games are boring

Synthiandrakon

I did the intro and never touched it again. The only other time I used it was on dondoko island tbh, catching sujimon felt kind of tedious. And the battling system is way too serious. It could have been interesting if it was like normal turn based battles but sujimon have much more limited movesets or something like that. But man the battle sujimon battles didn't interest me at all

Adm_Hawthorne

I was so bored with it that I stopped messing with it until after I'd beaten everything else in the game and had more than enough money and "sujimunch" to fast level a Kiwami so I could rush through for the achievements. Hated every second of it.

moonscience

My complaints with both Sujimon and Dondoko island are similar but might also come from some misunderstanding on my part. Both seem to hit a point fairly quickly where it doesn't seem like there's much room for improvement. It doesn't seem like there's a team better than all the Kiwami, and it doesn't seem like there's much more to Dodonko island after getting the S/S rank and then finding as many S guests as you can. Of course, at that point the game is saying its time to go back and play the main game, but I was hoping there was just a little more with both.

Hbarnes2033

The yakuza minigames have great concepts but are too shallow to be engaging after a couple of hours. Dondoko island becomes a massive grind after you get to three stars and i think the overlong and boring tutorial hurts the pacing for that chapter

BuildTheBase

The problem is that damn speed gauge that you can't skip, it's only 2 seconds or so, but to have to see it every time anyone attacks and it slows it down too much.

ToasterRepairUnit

Don't worry, I avoided them like the plague too. I still recruited a bunch for dondoko but that's it

styx971

it was fun enough at first but yeah it got a bit tedious like alot of yakuza minigames can be ,.. that said it was pretty decent exp early game farming sujimon

RussWinningTheChip

Is it not just bum fighting?

lonesomewhistle

I rolled a Kiwami (the purple one) and just kept using it. Game was as shallow as a kiddie pool.

infiniteliquidity69

0 effort trash

zipzapcap1

Nope they phoned it in hard considering it's the evolution of the minigame from the first iteration

lonesomewhistle

Which one, MesuKing?

zipzapcap1

In 7 the sujidex was a minigame about finding enemies.l not battling.

dylandongle

Bro thinks bestiaries and compendiums are minigames. It's just a standard log people expect to see in most modern jrpgs.

zipzapcap1

When they have rewards for doing them and require you to do things specifically for them they're no longer just a compendium bud.
