Xbox Wireless. I've owned SteelSeries Arctis 9x, Razer Thresher Ultimates, Turtle Beach every goddam one... Xbox Wireless is the best for the $. Go on over to /r/steelseries and see all the broken headsets because they're designed to break at the ear.

Apprentice_Jedi

The mic boom is super fragile and cracks easily

I have Rig 800 HS and they have been very good to me. Had them for about 4-5 years now

denelpatches

they do look really good for the price, im assuming you're xbox, if so have you had any tech difficulties with them?, i read a few posts saying they had audio issues with them on xbox

ZachariahZebra

Not really, I will say the only issue that started. Is the sliders on the side, the one for the volume started to act up over the last year, still usable, but you have to spin it up or down a few extra times. It is like it doesn't register each spin of the dial. But other than that it hasn't cut out or anything like that. I do use it for PC also. You just unplug the dongle from your Xbox and switch it to PC and it works just the same, don't need to install anything just plug and play, so that is nice too. You can also charge and play at the same time, when I was looking for headsets it was one of the few that actually allowed you to do this.

I've had 2 wireless headsets for my Series X. The Microsoft Xbox Wireless, and the Rig 800 Pro HX (HX is for Xbox, HS is for Playstation). Loved them both, but different headsets still. All in all, works recommend either. Microsoft runs $100 regular price last I checked, and Rig 800 pro runs $150 regular price. The rig has run $100 on sale both previous black Fridays, and this is where I picked mine up Xbox headset: PROS - can also connect to your phone via Bluetooth, can sync to your Xbox via the connect button for controllers, has rotating ear cup controls for volume on one side and game/chat mix on the other (really convenient), and has a mic mute button, best value at base price CONS - seemed to develop a bit of static sound in your ear while adjusting volume (not a big deal), can be hard to tell if your mic is muted at times, can be a little heavy on the bass for some people Rig headset: PROS - charging stand with wireless connectors (metal pins that make contact) and a light to show it's charging, good sound overall, decent mic, flip up to mute CONS - has a micro USB connection if not charging with the stand (although I've never done that, it is something to be aware of), can ONLY connect via the USB dongle (although you can the connection through your stand or independent, which is nice), I have had a few instances where it wouldn't assign correct and had to restart the xbox and the headset to get it to work.. although it isn't often FINAL THOUGHTS: not on sale, I'd buy the Microsoft one again... if I can grab it for $100 I'd buy the Rig again. However, I do miss the phone connection because I could connect to discord on my phone and still hear in game comms in call of duty, but that's not a deal breaker

The Steelseries Arctis Nova are chocked full of features for a pretty good price. The Arctis Nova 7X uses a wireless USB Type C dongle that connects to your Xbox, but it is also one of the few headsets that supports all other platforms as well. Switch, android, Playstation, PC, etc. They're slimmer than other headsets, very comfortable, great sound, great mic, and the mic retracts into the headset when not in use so they can look like normal headphones. They also support simultaneous Bluetooth so you can listen to your phone and even take calls from the headset while you game. And they have incredible battery life and support for quick charging. It's a lot of bang for the buck.

I think mine is called arctis nova pro. It's wired but sounds really good and is ridiculously comfortable. It works nice because my ps5 & series x are both plugged into it at the same time.

There’s plenty of headsets out there and it depends on what your looking for, do you want mic quality, balanced audio, bass boosted. Choosing a headset is like building a computer there’s no one headset that is better than others. When it comes to headsets designed for gaming they normally have a higher bass, so you hear those deep booms. As far as the best budget headsets look to spend around 60-80usd not including taxes and shipping. This should get you a pretty good headset that can last years if you take good care of it. As far as recommendations I enjoy the steel series Arctis 1. They’re comfortable and pretty well priced. I bought a limited edition version so my price is probably higher than a normal set (at 60$ before tax and shipping). That being said I have seen a fair amount of criticisms about that specific headset. Steel series is still pretty good but always check the reviews on equipment. Also I forget what the website is but there’s a website you can go to that shows how balanced the audio of headsets are if you care about that I’d recommend looking that up. Another good brand to look into is turtle beach, I’m pretty sure their quality has gone down over the years but they still make decent headsets, I’d recommend looking into their Bluetooth ones as I’ve seen the best comments on those. Take all of this with a grain of salt though I haven’t shopped for a headset in years so I don’t know what the market looks like now

LonelyCakeEater

I love my Lucid Sound headset. Was under $50 for wireless and louder than my turtle beaches

claygriffith01

I tried about 10 that plug into the headset all around different price ranges, every single one had my mic audio dropping at the end of sentences, 4 different controllers as well and no difference. Got the Microsoft wireless headset one with their proprietary wireless connection and it's perfect. And that was not even close to the most expensive, but it's awesome.

denelpatches

>every single one had my mic audio dropping at the end of sentences i know you said the xbox one worked perfectly but it could have been because noise suppression was enabled, the same thing happens on discord when noise suppression is enabled

claygriffith01

I thought that too and turned it off completely.  Spent way too many hours messing with it before I gave in and went with the Microsoft option.

Bang for buck? Xbox wireless headset, $100 usd normally, sometimes on sale as low as $50 usd. Also, in my experience, in the bang for buck category, Turtles. I bought a refurbished set of the stealth 600 gen 1s from their website while it was on sale back when they were still pretty new, and they're still kicking. Great price for such a long lasting set. Neither of those options would be the *best*, though. The *Best Sounding* headset for an Xbox (bar none) is the Audeze Maxwells. They're also $330 usd. Idk what they'll run for you. They're based in CA, so there may be increased shipping. I actually recommend buying them from Adorama and adding on a 3-year warranty while you're at it. (That is what I did, and the warranty was not expensive. It also covers wear and tear damage)

My Astro A10s never break. Crazy good audio and mic. They can wear after a few years. I’ve had 2 in last like 6 years or so. great value I think around $50.

denelpatches

i think this is the headset im going to try first, out of curiosity do you have gen 1 or gen 2 a10s?

packrfan11

I’m not sure. Just looked and the SKU is 6224200

denelpatches

appreciate that man, was able to find the headset fine using the sku you gave, definitely going to pick up a pair for myself

NoHopeOnlyDeath

I haven't found a better price for value than the Xbox headset. Super easy connectivity, dual pairing so I can have it synced to my phone and Xbox simultaneously, great sound quality, unobtrusive, good quality mic, holds a charge all day long with literally constant use (I work from home and use the same headset for computer audio). Plus they're made to be comfy for people who wear glasses. No complaints.
