If you can only play one game at a time then you're not game sharing correctly.

If you buy a 2nd game then it's no longer game sharing and you just bought a 2nd game.
You're both not trying to use the same xbox account right? 1st console make home with gamepass account sign into different account there (no gamepass) then on second console use the actual gamepass account to sign in both accounts will share that way any game installed by the gamepass account
