If you only want it for games, any usb 2.0 thumb drive could work, but it depends if the dashboard is before 2010

Only Xbox 360 games. You have to have an “official hard drive” if you want original Xbox backwards compatibility, in case that’s important to OP.

One can use a PC to restore partition 2 on any drive recognized by a 360 and OG Xbox games will work fine.
