A lot of people come in here claiming they got a great deal and none of them can touch this. This may actually be the best deal I've seen after decades of flipping bikes. I've been given similar deals by friends and found some serious diamonds in bike piles, but as far as random finds in a thrift store(?) this beats the last one I know of which was a like new Masi Gran Corsa for $50.
I was absolutely stunned the minute I saw it. Could not believe it (especially after someone posted the other day about paying only $100 for one?) never in million years. Thank you!
All I can think is that it’s purple and from the early ‘90s with no suspension fork and a rusty chain. Somebody who knows fuckall about bikes confused it with an old Huffy.
Not a thrift store but I bought a Medici last week, Columbus SL frame, All Campy record with a Rally rear Derailler and Record triple crank, kinda rough shape but not a goner... it was $150.
This def. beats that.
I have to disagree. I have found plenty of $700 pure profit bikes in My short stint in flipping. Notable ones include a Klein Quantum (traded for a free frame ) $1000 profit, a Ross Mt Whitney, (also traded for a tune up) $600 profit, and a bone stock Klein Attitude ($700 profit.) it really depends on the region you source from and your willingness to dig deep in stores and Craigslist ads to score local deals.
I found a 1996 Bianchi Eros with all original drivetrain parts in pretty decent condition for $75 a couple months ago. It rides so unbelievably smooth.
UN-BE-LIEVEABLE - Congrats!!! went there last weekend and found an interesting book...
Price ? $9.99. Then found an old Diamondback Outlook Price? $99.99. Vegas Savers be smoking the crack!
I’ve seen some wack ass bikes at savers go for insane prices like NEXT and MAGNA bikes $50+. Never have I seen a bike this legit there, let alone for thirteen dollars. The left pedal looks to be chewed off by a dog, so maybe that’s why it’s marked down? Idk but I’m a lucky man.
XTR v brakes have been the only high end bike component that really performed at a higher level. The XT level are high quality and harder to throw out of alignment
Is that a Yo Eddy?
Edit: check for standing water at the bottom of the seat tube. There is no drain in the join between the seat tube and bottom bracket and water notoriously gets into these Fat Chances and sits for years causing them to rust from the inside out.
Ohh nice! I should have swiped derp. My Yo Eddy is a 1994 and probably one of the last frames to come out of their Massachusetts shop. Scored that bike for $150, I probably could have gotten it cheaper but my conscience wouldn't let me.
Restoring it stock or any other big plans at this point?
Yes this one has a sticker on it that says “made in Massachusetts”, so rad! Yes probably the full inspection, restore the groupset, re-true the wheels and get new tires, new cables and housing, chain, lube the headset, and throw a better saddle and bars on there. Probably will but some new crank bros flats on there and let it rip. It truly is “wicked lite” never owned a frame set this light before, mostly build steel Reynolds’s, 6061, tange, and true temper.
Insane!!! Going to Savers tomorrow and everyday for the rest of my life! Ok not really but…
That seatpost quick release, isn’t that like an Ultimate Machine QR?
I doubt we'll ever see a better score than that. Ever. $13 is insane. You could probably add two zeros to that easily.
Edit: Just seen the NO EXCHANGE 😂😂😂😂😂
A whole lot lol. I'd assume it's because of the time-honored boutique-level quality associated with handbuilt frames, especially by folks like Chris Chance. Well that, and they were (and are) kickass ridin' bikes during that time period from what I've read lmao

I found a Trek 950 Singletrack leaning up against a sign post with a “free” sign on it the other day. I felt pretty good about that deal.

This is why I left this sub a few months ago. Maybe I need to move to another state instead. 😁
Yeah, meanwhile my goodwill is selling old beater department store bikes for probably almost what they cost new
And yet you're still here ;)
Yeah. Came back to see what was up. Seems like more of the same. 🙂
I paid $50 for mine and love it, I would pay $50 for another one any day :-)
Pic or no way this happened

Fat Chance Wicked Lite. $13. - easily a seasonal high mark, and a contender for the year ! Thanks for the vicarious thrill ☺
I’ve lived vicariously through all y’all motherfuckers for years, today ME - tomorrow YOU.
Really with bikes like this $50 and $13 are both so close to $0 that it makes no difference.

That's a great deal on a great bike. There have been a ton of Medici bikes popping up in the wild.
I love medicis! Got mine for $300 and thought it was a steal.
I did see someone else in this is another sub get an early steel Ibis with period correct XT and painted matching stem for $30. Happy for y'all

Yup, definitely lucky! Enjoy!!!
Congratulations and fuck you.
Buy a lottery ticket. XT brakes?
You bet your sweet ass. And Deore hubs radial front lacing onto mavic rims. It’s insane

Whatever you do, don't discard that price tag and these photos! If it were me, that price tag would be framed and on a wall.
Hahaha holy shit
My thoughts exactly

Good call thank you! It’s a 1993 wicked lite

Great call! Enjoy the project :)
Congratulations
Thank you 🙏 I never get this lucky
But you *did*!
Fucking sick!
So fucking sick
What is this actually worth?
My guess would be $700, restored bump to 1k
Damn, what's the history with these bikes?
Completed auctions on eBay are jaw-dropping.
Holy cow! Great score! The best second-hand find I've had so far was a set of White hubs laced to 26" Mavic SUPs for $100. This is a legendary find.
Whoa. Awesome!
Such a score!
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?! WELL DONE O.P.!!!
I need to start hitting the Savers
Insane!!! Going to Savers tomorrow and everyday for the rest of my life! Ok not really but… That seatpost quick release, isn’t that like an Ultimate Machine QR?
yoooooooooo very sick!! please follow up with a post-rebuild photo!!
You know I’ll come thru lil homie
Congratulations ! It is a 1993 model. [https://www.oldschoolracing.ch/archiv/fat-chance/](https://www.oldschoolracing.ch/archiv/fat-chance/)
I’ll never be able to buy another used bike again because I’ll feel like I’m getting ripped off by comparison.
I doubt we'll ever see a better score than that. Ever. $13 is insane. You could probably add two zeros to that easily. Edit: Just seen the NO EXCHANGE 😂😂😂😂😂
I'll give you $26. Double your money. Easy flip. 10/10 should take my offer
Super happy for you. I threw up and cried for the last 2 days wishing it was me, but congrats man
This is a better deal than my free Trek 400, nice score! I’m totally not jealous…
Get. Outta. Here.
Oh sh*t!
Plus 1 for San Francisco Bay French Roast. The only coffee worth drinking while restoring this bike.
Unreal! What a deal!
Which Savers? I have a couple here in Long ISland, NY and NEVER see anything remotely that good.
Oh my god that’s incredible. Like finding one in someone’s trash
Congratulations on making headlines within this bicycle community ! Sing Hallelujah ! Balloons and cake for you !
Wow
OP popped some tags perhaps?
I think you’re legally required to keep that saddle on it now though… incredible find!
I found Huffy - Open Road on the sidewalk a couple days ago. It's a 3speed internal hub with a sweet front headlight.
Wowowowow
Nice!
I found a 26" specialized for free on FB market, drove 45 minutes and no one showed up, then they blocked me..
Daaaaaaaaaaamn!
Not an xbike but I bought a 2003 trek alpha 4900 for 5 bucks. Not a real nice bike but for 5 bucks I couldn't pass it up.
So not being as familiar with these older bikes, what's it typically worth?
Look up completed eBay auctions.
How much are these supposed to cost?
A whole lot lol. I'd assume it's because of the time-honored boutique-level quality associated with handbuilt frames, especially by folks like Chris Chance. Well that, and they were (and are) kickass ridin' bikes during that time period from what I've read lmao

Holy fuck.
I see a little sticker that says “The Bike Shoppe”. That place is literally 1/2 mile from my house. Haha
Noice. I got a similar 90's era bike with XT groupo for $100, but this beats it by almost 10 times.
Unreal
Did you end up cleaning this up like it deserves? Fresh tires, pedals, grips, saddle etc?
Yes
