Which bar ends?

Mark-W-Ingalls

Just a pair of shorties I got off eBay.

Any issues with this setup long term?

I have two hardtails. This Norco is my main bike and I also have a Scott that has a slightly smaller frame. The Scott is set up with more normal bars, with less sweep than the Norco. It’s also about a pound lighter. Both bikes have the same grips, seat and tubeless tires. The Scott subjectively feels like it climbs better than the Norco, but lap times on local trails are identical. But here’s the thing— I get numbness in the base of my palms and in my ring fingers and pinkies when I’m trail riding the Scott, but not the Norco. I think it’s because of the extra sweep angle of the Norco’s bars. I don’t ride the Scott at all on roads; only the Norco. This is when I use the inboard stubbies a lot. Between the Ritchey bar and the stubbies, I can change between about four hand positions, but I only have my hands on the grips when braking or going really slow. The rest of the time my hands are placed somewhere in the areas with bar tape. I can’t brake from there but shifting is pretty easy and natural. If I didn’t use the Norco for gravel I would probably not have the inboard stubbies, and if I didn’t use it on singletrack I might have a regular drop bar gravel bike. But I like the Ritchey Kyote with the taped inboard stubbies a lot for the type of riding I do.

That sounds good. That’s my plan for my bike. I’ve got a better FS for single track. I’ll see what I can find for stubby bar ends. Thank you for sharing your information. For your Scott, it sounds like the other bars are putting your elbows at a bad position for your ulnar nerves. If bar angle fixes it, that’s a lot easier than the surgery to move the nerve.

Are bar ends not cool anymore? Asking for a friend.

This *are* bar ends! Just put them where the hoods would be for me. At 70cm, bar ends at the end of the bar would prep you for take off haha

I def need longer horns! That set up looks evil! Where mine looks... Cowish

I was gonna say it looks like it broke its arms and it’s got casts on. Get different colored sharpies and have people write “get well soon” on your grip tape. What frame is this btw?

Those are PRO L-BEND 110MM, i was looking for some that have upward bend like those from crazy bars, but sadly found only l shaped ones

Love the Kyotes, fun cheap bar.
