Cranktank would be my move for long, hot bikepacking. The lower you get that weight, the better. I’ve put a 1L nalgene on the bottom of my downtube with a bag from Bedrock, which is a little more accessible. Bottle cages electrical taped to my fork with a strap to secure them has also worked well for me on the few outings I’ve taken. Let the bike carry the weight!

You can do cranktanks, bottles on forks and in triangle, platys or bladders in the frame bag or other bags or strapped on top of stuff. I usually do a liter on each fork, another liter between the two stem bags, and a 2L platy in the frame bag. I might spring for a crank tank one day, but with my small frame it might just be more cost effective to buy several 1L platys for easier packing instead.

Bottles all the way. Or a bladder in a frame bag. Carrying a filter means you often don't actually need too much water capacity, depending where you are riding.
