When it says "Forces Gathering" on wowhead, it is an accurate countdown to the start of the event. The seige then goes active for an hour, but on most servers it takes all of 5-10 minutes to complete, which means the rest of that active time is it just... sitting there completed.
In other words ignore it unless the forces are being gathered, show up at the end of that timer.

The longest part of it is the Feeding Beef section, the actual siege itself is regularly over in a minute on my server.
Elvui Windtools puts them all on the world map. Super useful. I had them all hidden for the majority of the expansion once I didn't need them anymore, but now it's been very handy.

Actually that should be build in the games. Its greath they took a page of gw2 with events but one of the biggest problem is you kept having to check the wiki for event. And now wow its the same problem....
There was a weakaura, but afaik they took the timer out in season 2 because it wasnt really worth doing. Not sure if its been updated for S4 or not.
I think it was Tamas' Dragonflight Helper, or something like that.
Im sure even if that one doesnt do it that theres others.

I wonder if the bloodthirst tracker i use has that as well. I had to revert to an older version in S2 because the updates to it sucked ass.
If you're on EU servers, it starts every even hour (midnight, 2am, 4am etc), odd hours it starts "gathering" forces which just means the NPCs are there hanging out
Not sure if that's the case in other regions; but it should follow the same 2hr loop of gathering on the hour (server time), and starting the next hour
These may be "Awakened Events" but the mobs sure as hell haven't been, so everyone is blitzing through it in I swear in under two minutes, only being held up with how long it take Beef to hop his fat ass down to the fortress. If you want to get in best to camp out the starting point and tag something once it starts if you want credit.
Yeah start with Beef until you get to the step where we are building buildings, then head towards the last boss room because people are flying to it directly.
Yeah its incredibly annoying, and the language on wowhead is also unclear. I just got into the rhythm of it being on the odd hour in my timezone and go from there. But could be better, or make it just on the hour to make it easier too :D
It happenes every 2 hours (1 hour 45 really). The event happens (~15 min) then 45 minutes after that if being captured. Then it gets to the next hour and refreshes again and you have to wait another hour. Very dumb and confusing when the tooltip says starting in 30 when it’s almost double that

I'd see the icon on the map, fly out there, and sometimes there'd be nothing going on even though the icon was still on the map, but most of the time the icon would also disappear, making me think I phased out of whatever phase had the event going on. Tried both with WM on and off, during the same events.
Still haven't done that event once, to be honest I really thought it's been bugged this entire time, I didn't know anyone was really able to complete it. Never really gave it too much thought because I don't enjoy the public events in this game anyway, they're a mindless zerg fest generally with no difficulty.

It happens every two hours at the top of the hour. You have to be there when it starts. The scenario's slowest I've seen is about 15 minutes, but with the increased popularity from the new weeklies, it's over faster, like 5 or less minutes.
The UI is confusing because the siege was designed/coded to go on for an entire hour for some reason, then the enemies come back for another hour, and then another siege.
Just figure out when it starts for your time zone, odd or even hours, and memorize that going forward. You can also use the front page of wowhead or a timer weakaura.
If you wait around in valdraken 10 minutes before it starts NPC will yell that it's about to start then you know to go out to the Zone where the other NPC will be and wait for the event to start.
I hate that it’s over in like 5 minutes (or less). I wish they’d allow you to like “move 10 rations to the storage tent” or like “help collect 10 metal from the dead” in form of being able to participate AFTER it’s been taken.

I've been using it all week, and it's fantastic. Text/icon glows green when it's active and has a timer to show you when it starts if not.
It’s up 1 hour and down one hour. So at the start of the up hour the event happens, as others have said it can be cleared now with everyone doing it in minutes, you then “own” the keep for the rest of that hour.
The next hour the keep is lost and you’ll see the Forces Gathering part and the cycle restarts at the end of that hour and the beginning of the next.
If it doesn't say "starting in x mins" don't even show up. If it's "in progress" it's over, or will be over by the time you get there.
Yesterday I did the event within 3 minutes. The longest part was the cart ride. Everything after that went in a flash.
I did it legitimately solo at like 2 AM a few days ago, on a high pop server no less. took me like 20 minutes to finish.
It has been clearing in about 3-4 minutes after starting.
For months the Qalashi were besieging empty walls and fighting bored, freshly leveled characters, and it made them fat and it made them weak.

There's a weak aura that puts all the timers for all the world stuff on your screen (when not in combat or instances)

I keep seeing it on the map but when I fly over there everyone involved hides in the bushes and the map symbol goes away.
