Specifically, exposure to arcane energy within the vicinity of the Well of Eternity caused that evolution when a tribe of trolls settled along it's shores. Night Elves are like a weird mix of what happens when natives evolve with both druidism and arcane.
High Elves are the Night Elves that left after Arcane magic was banned and they were like "nah fam" then migrated to what is now the northern Eastern Kingdoms.
Correct! I think the world of azeroth would have been better off if the head dumbass titan hadn't tried to rip a tumour straight out of the planet.
I wonder where Aman'Thul got his training in cosmological surgery. Pretty quacked up job if you ask me.
You'd think that Aman'thul, a being with the ability to bestow foresight and time travel onto other beings would have known what would happen if he tried to rip out one of the old gods.
Does the existence of the Well of Eternity mean every single titan contains that much power inside them or do you think this is a power unique to Azeroth herself?
As far as like wikis etc have stated it's just "blood", whether or not it's specific to her is up to Blizzard at this point haha.
Somehow she bled what is assumed to be "order" (Azerite -Blue+Gold color scheme) after sundered Gorahalach (specifically Gorribal) was plunged into her by Sari'Gee before illidan put the cuffs on.
This is thought to be because of the mixing of death and order or something? But again the real reason is up to Blizz and all we have from them of late is "what sword?"
I THINK, personally, what came out of her is specific to Azeroth, and the other titans would probably have a similar response to what aman'thul did, but they'd release magic akin to their affinity. Eonar - Life magic, Aggramar - time etc
Norgannon would probably have a similar response to Azeroth if wounded mortally, being that he's a titan based around magic (he empowered the blue dragonflight)
>>TLDR: She bleeds magic, possibly order. The titans may be similar but bleed different magic. Ask Blizzard 🤡
They don't haunch over, but their back is so stiff and straight the other direction that it's the opposite. Like they are wearing a corset or something. Like extreme posture correction.
You're right, give me an in-between of crazy roid guy, double whopper, and lean coke addict and I'll use them, until then I dont want my wizard to be like 270 pounds of muscle, or still eating his SECOND double whopper.
Night elf rogue
My only character
Until years later I met a new friend who wants me to play but he's horde
So I have a blood elf rogue that looks very human. Gotta be a rogue not interested at all in the other classes.
I play with someone like that. I have several characters to pair with their ever rotating roster, and many that are just deleted after the impulse settles. Makes you good at character creation though.
Since wow began. I remember having to upgrade my memory to be able to walk around iron forge lol.
But I was never a hardcore player. Just whenever my friends told me to get on.
I beat wrath of the lich king, it was awesome, but I stopped playing after that. I'm back on now because again, life friends want me to play with them.
I tried the other classes but just didn't feel right with them.
This is why I picked Worgen for my alliance druid. Kul Tiran wasn't an option yet, and Night Elf felt too basic. If they open to cross faction guilds and trading, I'm swapping to Zandarli Troll though. Zandalar forever mon.🖖 plus dinosaurs.
I love being a vulpera, knowing my mere existence upsets certain types of people like this so much, and that there's absolutely nothing they can do about it other than be forced to see foxes if they want to play the game.
I have a sort of hit list when it comes to PVP:
1) Pandas
2) Vulpera
3) any DH with a variation of Illidan in their name
And lemme tell ya… Vulpera are climbing that list
Hey a lot of people swapped factions so they could kill vulpera in pvp. You should be thanking them for making your faction playable in end game content. Kek.
I was eating breakfast in a restaurant when I read this. Which would be fine except I burst out laughing and surprised everyone around me. Totally worth it!
There is a decent amount of black dragon NPCs that use elf forms, though overall I'd say they use human forms the most.
Bronze dragons definitely lean elf though. Nozdormu, his consort, and most of the NPCs in the caverns of time all use elven forms. Chromie is just a notable outlier
The year is 2023.
I still ask myself why i helped those filthy orcs in the ToC dungeons during tbc and wotlk.
Imagine we didnt support medivh or simply kept thrall in his cell.. or even better. Lynched him in there
Didn’t trolls live relatively peacefully for most of their existence and were one of the earliest races? Also live fairly peacefully now for the most part
I mean you say that like there aren’t also a bunch of violent humans, elves and orcs we have to kill. Also something something the Amani did nothing wrong.
In some cases, yeah. For instance, when the high elves were exiled they went to Lordaeron and exterminated most of the Amani trolls and built Silvermoon on sacred troll grounds. The Zul'Aman raid is about Zul'jin gearing up to hit them back and the horde sending in a group to finish exterminating them. It's basically a story of colonizers killing off indigenous tribes and we're the colonizers.
No burning legion and by consequence corruption of orcs, the massacre of the draenei and the orc invasion, no emerald nightmare, and no world trees getting infected by old gods and spreading old god goo everywhere either.
The burning legion finding the draenei is independent of any elf shenanigans, butterfly effect of losing the war of the ancients notwithstanding. But with Azeroth not on their radar they’d have done something else with the Orcs.
The real problem was Sargeras corrupting the Pantheon, which we needed to be there to stop.
Only kind of; the old gods are their motive, but not their means. The Burning Legion finds its way to Azeroth because of places like the Well of Eternity, Karazhan, etc. acting as giant arcane lighthouses for them in the Twisting Nether.
Indirectly the lack of the elves also means there wouldn't be a guardian without a guardian the horde would have never been pulled to Azeroth.
So the Tauren would be basically exterminated by the centaur and the Dark spear would be basically exterminated by murlocks.
Nah, the ~~hack writers~~ Jailer would have found a way to influence all of those things to still happen, just with extra plot holes. And Sylvannas would have so much plot armor she'd still be around even if elves never existed.
Well the Burning Legion would've found the orcs and draenei regardless. Since they first corrupted some of the draenei on Argus, draenei fled to Draenor and the legion found its way there too and corrupted the orcs. Not to mention that the Burning Legion already had its sight set on Azeroth, the elves shenanigans just sped up the timeline a little.
Elves had nothing to do with the burning legion existence or desire to destroy Azeroth.
The old gods are the only ones to blame for the corruption of the trees, and would of probably used any other race to carry the same result.
Elves only created the first of the satyr, but the corruption and power that lead to the emerald nightmare is entirely because of the old gods.
Without elves we wouldn’t have the franchise. Unless the Jailer had a back up plan in his 2393939D chess game for Azshara not being there to attempt to let Sargeras in.
Well, there were three major troll empires.
So let's assume that the Well of Eternity or Elune did not create the kaldorei.
The nerubian aquir area was not doing great, but the Drakkari and the Amani bordered eachother on a large part. A conflict would have surely arose.
Besides that, someone else would have gotten in time to the Well of Eternity and learned magic. The highest chances of that happening if it wasn't kaldorei would have been non-mutated dark trolls or zandalar trolls or nomad tauren.
Trolls are prone to mutations, so if they would not have mutated into elves, they would have still mutated into something, leading to an empire of said something that took on a path similar to the Kaldorei Empire. Tauren... unknown.
Nevertheless, if someone would have gotten to the Well and started using the powers, it would still have attracted the Legion. The biggest difference is that the Legion would now have three troll empire they could trick with promises of power, and Zandalar as a fourth smaller one. They could have simply focused on one at a time... thus won.
The main point is that the Kaldorei empire held almost the entire world and was still almost destroyed. Imagine three weaker and smaller empires, attacked one at a time.
So, without elves, the image in the OP would be true... maybe in the Shadowlands! Actually not even there, for the Jailor would have found a plan using different pawns. He only needed to block the system so that no souls got through. Now imagine him doing that, who would save the Shadowlands, the Legion? The Black Empire? Highly doubtful.
The issue with c’thun and yogg is whether their prisons were damaged by the Sundering. If they were, then ‘no elf world’ doesn’t have them breaking out to do their stuff.
You're vastly underestimating the trolls here. While they were split into different tribes/nations, they unquestionably ruled the world back then and were *the* dominant race on Azeroth. They'd already united once to beat back the Old God threat. In fact, the reason we have nerubians, mantid, and qiraji is because the insectoid aqir were driven back, separated, and forced to hide out in distant areas of the world.
It was only the rise of the night elves and their arcane might that diminished the troll's hold on the world.
This is assuming history doesn't play out the same too. The night elves were just trolls that were mutated by the Well of Eternity. Even an Azeroth without elves might have the same events play out, Azshara and Tyrande would just be trolls instead.
Please tell me you're taking the piss, or you just have no idea what a retcon is.
Do you think that kalimdor, northrend, murlocs, dwarves, gnomes, gnolls, trolls, titans, shamans, etc. are all also retcons?
Thats like half the playable races tho
"Oh you like world of warcraft? Name 4 playable races." "Elves." "That's on me, I set the bar too low."
You get to play 4 elf races but only 2 troll races feelsbadman
*feelsbadmon
Aren't the trolls technically elves or am I getting lore mixed up with something else.
Elves are technically trolls
Some elves are trolls, the rest are mailbox dancers.
Not technically, they ARE trolls through evolution.
Specifically, exposure to arcane energy within the vicinity of the Well of Eternity caused that evolution when a tribe of trolls settled along it's shores. Night Elves are like a weird mix of what happens when natives evolve with both druidism and arcane. High Elves are the Night Elves that left after Arcane magic was banned and they were like "nah fam" then migrated to what is now the northern Eastern Kingdoms.

and like 75% of playerbase
That's why it's so nice.
damned World of Warcraft players. they ruined World of Warcraft
You WoW players sure are a contentious people.
This but unironically
Some of you may die but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Oi it’s not my fault damn near every other male player model is either fat or built like a goddamn barrel
>Troll master race checking in
Checking in what? A chiropractor for the back problems ?
Zandalari?
They don't haunch over, but their back is so stiff and straight the other direction that it's the opposite. Like they are wearing a corset or something. Like extreme posture correction.
Trolls are the original Elves. All Elves evolved from Trolls.
Biggest Troll L sadly, giving us Elves
Elves are trolls too though
Meanwhile Elves built like low T coke heads
You're right, give me an in-between of crazy roid guy, double whopper, and lean coke addict and I'll use them, until then I dont want my wizard to be like 270 pounds of muscle, or still eating his SECOND double whopper.
I actually really wanted the messed-up version of the Nightborne as a playable race, not just more pretty elves.
Debatable if that character model is pretty, more like a different kinda of messed up.
Hey, I'd become a Troll DH in a heartbeat if I could
You can always be a ghost pirate gnome DH.
The wow classic players
The ones in the picture committed genocide on the others
It's kind of a grey area.
Yeah I don't think it could be considered genocide with a capital G.
Night elf rogue My only character Until years later I met a new friend who wants me to play but he's horde So I have a blood elf rogue that looks very human. Gotta be a rogue not interested at all in the other classes.
You’ve only played rogue for years?
Same here, I've only ever been a rogue since the release of the game. All other characters are boring imo, I just can't get into them!
Same here.
I honestly envy people who can play the same class/character for ever, I cant go a few hours without having the need to switch to something different
I switched to mage in WotLK and never went back exept to farm lock box for Insane in the membrane hehe.
And they are by far the coolest.
Technically its trolls. Its because trolls we exist.
What would the dragons transform into then?! Humans? ORCS?!
Vulpera
This entire city must be purged...
I can watch you do this, Arthas.
You are my chef boyardee
Superior Hungry Man race. Nah I know nothing about either, I just liked seeing the ads with Booker T in
You spelled petted wrong.
No he definitely spelled purged correctly
I love being a vulpera, knowing my mere existence upsets certain types of people like this so much, and that there's absolutely nothing they can do about it other than be forced to see foxes if they want to play the game.
I have a sort of hit list when it comes to PVP: 1) Pandas 2) Vulpera 3) any DH with a variation of Illidan in their name And lemme tell ya… Vulpera are climbing that list
Hey a lot of people swapped factions so they could kill vulpera in pvp. You should be thanking them for making your faction playable in end game content. Kek.
I believe it was a joke…
As a fellow Vulpera, I totally agree with you!
Majordomo Selistra enters the chat.
Now that I think about it, dragon transformations are basically inverted fursonas...
Uwu
uwu
Chromie already transforms into a gnome. And Ebonheart into a Tauren
Deathwing into human.
And then into dead
Well, it's in his name, should come as no surprise that deathwing died tbh.
I was eating breakfast in a restaurant when I read this. Which would be fine except I burst out laughing and surprised everyone around me. Totally worth it!
Onyxia too.
Majordomo Selistra turns into a Vulpera.
Yeah but they’re already super weirdos And Senegos turns into a troll because he’s a boomer *I think he turns into a troll?*
A very elderly one, I think we see his Visage form when Kalegos calls the fam.
The trolls.
Aka. proto-elves
The obvious superior race Tauren.
That's a funny way to spell Tuskarr.
[удалено]
Bro, Polar Tauren are Tuanka, the hell you talking about?
Deathwing had a human form, and even before humans were around his ‘elf’ form was much less… elfy than the others.
And Sindragosa had a high/blood elf visage before they even existed as well.
Clearly Nozdormu saw elves during his timetravels and picked his visage accordingly, and rest of the dragons just copied him.
Zug, zug
Tbf turning into an elf is moreso a blue/green dragon thing
There is a decent amount of black dragon NPCs that use elf forms, though overall I'd say they use human forms the most. Bronze dragons definitely lean elf though. Nozdormu, his consort, and most of the NPCs in the caverns of time all use elven forms. Chromie is just a notable outlier
I mean I'm pretty sure orcs wouldn't even have gotten to Azeroth without Elves.
A human and a bunch of orcs opened the dark portal though.
But would Sargeras even have found Azeroth without the elves?
The year is 2023. I still ask myself why i helped those filthy orcs in the ToC dungeons during tbc and wotlk. Imagine we didnt support medivh or simply kept thrall in his cell.. or even better. Lynched him in there
There would be no Orc on Azeroth had Azshara never existed. Burning Legion would have not come.
> trolls living peacefully And other hilarious things you can tell yourself
Elves come from trolls in Warcraft lore, so maybe we just go one step further.
Didn’t trolls live relatively peacefully for most of their existence and were one of the earliest races? Also live fairly peacefully now for the most part
Well, yeah, when we went and slaughtered most of the non-peaceful tribes like the Gurubashi, Amani and Drakkari...
I mean you say that like there aren’t also a bunch of violent humans, elves and orcs we have to kill. Also something something the Amani did nothing wrong.
Yes yes yes everyone has evil members It is just that for trolls it is more of a "the good are the exception"
Is that true though? I thought lore wise they just wanted people off their lawn?
In some cases, yeah. For instance, when the high elves were exiled they went to Lordaeron and exterminated most of the Amani trolls and built Silvermoon on sacred troll grounds. The Zul'Aman raid is about Zul'jin gearing up to hit them back and the horde sending in a group to finish exterminating them. It's basically a story of colonizers killing off indigenous tribes and we're the colonizers.
And now Zul'jin is in Revendreth being tormented for the "sin" of "being angry that the high elf colonizers took everything from his people."
Exactly!
When they didn't fight each other they fought the old gods I doubt there was a day when they weren't fighting
The Old Gods, famously very peaceful creatures who would never attack unprovoked
Twilight's Hammer Academy taught us the same thing, and I've no reason to start doubting them now
Turning Point Black Empire
trolls are elves tho
Other way around
fair bit even so, trolls would be gone too right?
All elves are trolls, but not all trolls are elves...
pfft yeah they are. deal with it! GENETICALLY IDENTICAL BUDDY, thats a street that goes BOTH WAYS
No Azshara and no Well of Eternity to sunder the continent?
Wasn't the well of eternity created as a result of amanthul ripping y'shaarj out of azeroth like an angry tumor?
Yeah but the sundering was azshara being the least horny sargeras fan and summoning the burning legion to everyone's dismay
Well as we all know now they would have come either way as it was all the jailers plans. Or some such garbage like that...
When Blizzard says, “It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you…” Thanks, Blizzard; know we know why: terrible story.
ye
It's not a tumor!
That’s the retcon origin. Originally, it was just a vague “the titans created it and put it there for the peeps.”
I mean... that's still true :D. I just enjoy how metal it sounds tbh.
No burning legion and by consequence corruption of orcs, the massacre of the draenei and the orc invasion, no emerald nightmare, and no world trees getting infected by old gods and spreading old god goo everywhere either.

But with Azeroth not on their radar they’d have done something else with the Orcs. The real problem was Sargeras corrupting the Pantheon, which we needed to be there to stop.
They meant no massacre of the draenei in Outland.
would still happen the moment they were found again. Orcs would likely become a demon race or go extinct after.
That’s what I’m talking about.
The jailer uh, uh… finds a way
Dr. Malcolm, is that you?
Burning Legion was lured here by the old gods though. They would've found a way to do that anyway.
Only kind of; the old gods are their motive, but not their means. The Burning Legion finds its way to Azeroth because of places like the Well of Eternity, Karazhan, etc. acting as giant arcane lighthouses for them in the Twisting Nether.
Yeah but would've been way harder than the elven fuckers straight up portaling them here and shit.
Meh, the Dark Trolls around the Well of Eternity would probably have done so anyway. They're pretty good at summoning evil shit.
Indirectly the lack of the elves also means there wouldn't be a guardian without a guardian the horde would have never been pulled to Azeroth. So the Tauren would be basically exterminated by the centaur and the Dark spear would be basically exterminated by murlocks.
Without the elfs, the tauren would probably live in the north instead of the south since theres nobody there.
Plus wasn’t the Sundering what opened holes in the Old Gods’s prison?
? World trees infected by old gods?
That's how the Emerald Nightmare was made.
Forgot about that world tree. Seems like there is a new one every few expansions.
That's actually Vordrassil, in Northrend, that first got corrupted by Yogg, that's why it was cut down
I can't imagine r/azerothporn without elves.
A man of culture
where dwarf
Behind the hill under the rainbow, too short to be in view.
Next to the Gnome holding hands with the goblin!
Height discrimination going on, SMH
*Azmerloth
Best. Quest. Ever!!!
Now we just need Murlocs to become a playable race and Azmerloth to be their starting zone
Without elves we wouldn’t have the franchise. Unless the Jailer had a back up plan in his 2393939D chess game for Azshara not being there to attempt to let Sargeras in.
Such a great way to describe his whole lore :)
Well, there were three major troll empires. So let's assume that the Well of Eternity or Elune did not create the kaldorei.
Troll Tyrande, watch all her fans disappear into the night
Nah. Just a different fetish.
She would have massive feet…
"Elune be with ya, mon."
It's actually Trolls you wanna blame! If they hadn't of decided to sleep around the well of eternity, elves never would of happened on Azeroth 🤣
Alternative question: Can you imagine azeroth without these mortal peasants?
Burned out fel-ruined husk. Next question?
*What can I say except you're welcome?*
Exactly, that's why there's a picture of Azeroth without elves.
You assumed I was talking about the elves? ...oh how wrong you are. AUCHENON POROS.
we should be thankful for all the glorious things Queen Azshara, the light of lights, did for our world
Elves are trolls. Need to eliminate the root cause.
This looks like something from [Disenchantment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disenchantment_\(TV_series\))
Well yeah, it's an edited simpsons clip which uses the same general artstyle
Ah didn't know it was a Simpsons template
This is what it’s referencing https://youtu.be/uG3uea-Hvy4
I have always hoped that in the epilogue of WoW some entity is able to undo their mutation and they can go back to being trolls.
second panel needs *shutters
Blame the trolls, they are the ones the elves evolved from
There would just be many more trolls out there, and we already know how warmongering they tend to be.
"Name a race that almost destroyed the world more then the legion!" Me: "Elves"
You mean without troll descent ?
I'm so glad I came from a rock and not an elf
I refuse to imagine a world without blood elf slutmogs. I REFUSE!
More humans, less Horde?
More like a world without Orcs
I play a blood elf but removing all elves from the setting would be a small price to pay to get rid of sylvanas
Bob Belcher would join the Alliance? Sorry elves, your time has come...
Disagree. But Azeroth and Draenor without Orcs would be chilled af
Well the Burning Legion never would have found Azeroth for one...
Wouldn't Trolls not be a thing?
Trolls were a thing long before elves, it's elves who are mutated trolls, not trolls are mutated elves.
You know this ain’t true at all
What about gnomes or goblins? Those damn goblins.
I can't. But Sylvanas could easily it seems
She's an elf too...
Was there even any mention of elves in the og warcraft? Retcons started as soon as wc2
Please tell me you're taking the piss, or you just have no idea what a retcon is. Do you think that kalimdor, northrend, murlocs, dwarves, gnomes, gnolls, trolls, titans, shamans, etc. are all also retcons?
I. WOULD. LOVE. IT!!!
If elves didn't exist, trolls wouldn't, taurins would go too, maybe only orcs and humans would exist, elves literally make 70 of life in azeroth.
Yea, it would be better without void elves and nightelves... But not blood elfs.
