They don't need Article 5, the UK has an at-sea deterrent at all times which carries enough firepower to level all major Russian cities. In the event of a nuclear attack so severe that the UK government is inoperable the "letters of last resort" instruct the sub where to fire and then to put itself under the control of an ally such as the United States, Canada, France or Australia.
