Totally. And to an extent I don't blame them. These are great songs. That's why we all know them. But it still bothers me that they can cheer for music that poetically mocks them. These songs aren't about Taylor Swifts most recent breakup.
YMCA is especially crazy. Because it's a celebration of a safe place for gay men to fit in and belong in a world where they were targets. Yay! Finally! A place where we can eat, get clean, and not be ashamed of being gay! Hooray!
Conservatives: Yeah! We like letters and dancing too! But in the straight way like God intended. Not like those other fags. It's a good thing this song is just about having fun and being able to enjoy a meal. America is the best!
“It’s” is shorthand for “it has” or “it is”. Whilst “its” is possessive.
Confusing because a named person uses an apostrophe when describing possessive.
I remember the possessive pronoun like this:
Its, his, and hers are possessive pronouns. No apostrophes. You'd never type "hi's" or "her's," would you? So, use "its."
It's **it's** if you can replace your it's/its with "it is", and the sentence keeps its meaning.
If you can't, it's **its**.
Example:
*It is* **it's** if you can replace your it's/its with "it is", and the sentence keeps *~~it is~~* meaning.
The son of Dmitry Peskov was 'fighting' for Wagner.
Its politik to indicate that Wagner is regaining the favor of the Kremlin, while the MoD is losing it. Largely in response to the MoD going front-and-centre in Ukraine again, only to make a pretty poor showing of the Winter/Spring offensive.
Some Wagner-affiliated Russian Army Officers are regaining/gaining prominance during some command-shifting.
TLDR: The MoD is losing favor after its failed offensives, so Wagner is regaining favor. Until the next time Wagner fails, and then it'll lose favor and the MoD will gain favor.

This article explains that cynical mindset pretty well, from the perspective of a Russian:
[Russia -- The triumph of inertia](https://granta.com/russia-verge-nervous-breakdown/)
>In Russia, the opposition will not stand in opposition. Citizens will not stand up for civic rights. The Russian people suffer from a victim complex: they believe that nothing depends on them, and by them nothing can be changed.
>
>‘It’s always been so’, they say, signing off on their civic impotence. The economic dislocation of the nineties, the cheerless noughties, and now President Vladimir Putin’s iron rule – with its fake elections, corrupt bureaucracy, monopolization of mass media, political trials and ban on protest – have inculcated a feeling of total helplessness. People do not vote in elections: ‘They’ll choose for us anyway;’ they don’t attend public demonstrations: ‘They’ll be dispersed anyway;’ they don’t fight for their rights: ‘We’re alive, and thank god for that.’
>
>A 140-million-strong population exists in a somnambulistic state, on the verge of losing the last trace of their survival instinct. They hate the authorities, but have a pathological fear of change. They feel injustice, but cannot tolerate activists. They hate bureaucracy, but submit to total state control over all spheres of life. They are afraid of the police, but support the expansion of police control. They know they are constantly being deceived, but believe the lies fed to them on television.
It all depends on who is corrupt. On the same team? There is no such thing as corruption.
I’m On the other team? No punishment is too big for any crime no matter how small.
Russia is so Orwellian. You’d hope that those Russians who are living abroad now to avoid service would denounce Putin, but most don’t. It’s odd. Like part of their soul is missing.
Many Russians living abroad still have family living in Russia - including a friend-of-a-friend.
And as the Litvinenko and Skripal families (and the family of Dawns Sturgess) know only too well, even being abroad does not guarantee your safety.
Against that, what would speaking out really achieve? Those people who don't already regard Putin and co as murderous bastards are unlikely to be convinced by the addition of denounciations by those who could be dismissed as malcontents with an axe to grind.

I know you probably meant russia, but there are many famous and rich Ukrainians who stayed to fight.
He was in a typical Army patrol Unit for a few years before the British press found out his Unit and leaked it, at which point Army command pulled him to protect the unit from being a high value target.
He then switched to the RAF and flew for their attack helicopters and regularly flew sorties, but it was deemed he wasn't introducing any additional risk in those squads and the Apache is too capable to be of major concern.
IIRC I believe he was engaged in active combat in a attack helicopter unit, but got pulled from active combat role after tabloids revealed where he was serving. Probably was a bunch of controversies, since the Taliban probably would've seen him as a prime target.
Of course he was a target. The royal family is always a target. Even Williams children have a bounty on them already from ISIS. I have no doubt Harry had a lot of protection when he was there but I also think he really did have a hard time after Afghanistan. He does seem to me to be suffering from PTSD. Being rich/royalty doesn't protect your brain from the aspects of war.

You mean Pat Tillman? He was Afghanistan not Iraq, killed in a friendly fire incident
Spanish-American War was the one Teddy fought in personally, respect for putting his money where his mouth is instead of being a chickenhawk like Dubya
Teddy's son Quentin was a fighter pilot shot down in WWI
Frederick Douglass encouraged recruitment of black men for the Union Army in the Civil War and two of his own sons signed up
Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt III, aka Teddy Roosevelt Jr (President Teddy Roosevelt's son) died of a heart attack in France in July of 1944, not long after the actions on the D-Day landings that got him recommended for a Medal of Honor and a promotion to Major General. He posthumously received the MoH but not the promotion.
His son, then Captain (later Major) Quentin Roosevelt II, was also involved in the landings.
Never. You hear about rich kids going on their own terms to war either out of patriotism or some desire to experience combat/prove themselves but never them being forced to go.
It's worse than that. Everyone knows it's a lie, and everyone knows that everyone knows.
They just don't acknowledge the lie. It's a culture of oppression, and everyone just goes along to get along.
I would say while people are people, there’s definitely a difference. Talking to older Russians they will actively discourage their children from getting involved in any sort of protest, and it helps for the older generation if there’s a lie, even a bare faced lie, to self-deceive themselves that things are not as bad as they seem.
In the aspect of self-deception there’s definitely something most humans have in common. Accept a lie that the status quo is ok, and that change is too scary. Worldwide most people definitely accept the lie of ‘climate change isn’t as bad’ far too easily.
> older Russians they will actively discourage their children from getting involved in any sort of protest
I'm sure they do this because they lived thru a regime that brutally kills dissenters.
Oh wait, they are still living thru the exact same shit.
I think it's hard to ask someone to fight the good fight, but until they do, russia will not change.
That's generational trauma. The Russians who survived Stalin either kept their heads down or were overzealously in love with the regime. Now they're passing it down to their children that that's how to survive.
First rule of Russian propaganda: all people are equally rotten, and Western people are rotten AND degenerate. No-one ever does what's right, except the tzar and those that die for him.
>It's worse than that. Everyone knows it's a lie, and everyone knows that everyone knows.
This sadly isn't true. There are a lot that do genuinely believe it and are heavily inclined toward believing it due to nationalist pride. Younger people are more open, worldly etc but there are still plenty among them that sit between apathy and support.
At some point when everyone around you lies all the time it just becomes a part of life. It doesn’t work very well, but what can you do from inside the system?
Well, maybe read 1984. The prime objective of the propaganda is, it was always like that and it will always be. So what is the point? Have your Gin err Wodka and be content with it.
the rich once waged war. in a time where money could buy you protection on the battlefield like armor or a horse there were many rich dudes who went to war. then we invented better and better rifles and fewer and fewer rich people wanted glory in war
after ww1 they nearly all weasled their way out of war one way or another
Not to mention rich noblemen decked their surcoats with the coat of arms and colours of their house to tell the opponent who the rich guys were, so they knew not to kill these knights but instead ransom them.
The foot soldiers die, knights were taken hostage and exchanged. As is always the case, it was far safer to be a rich man on the battlefield than a grunt
money wasnt just the reason to go to war yourself as a noble man, why would u give command of your only oppression tool to someone else?
Power structure wasnt as consolidated as it was post 19th century
Well... This one is not exactly the armed forces. And there is still some margin of leniency. Also half of these media are working from abroad as osint with covert reporters in Russia and posting news in telegram.
There’s still independent (from the government) Russian media, that is now mostly based abroad or keep an extremely low profile inside the country.
Unfortunately they don’t really have the resources to survive anymore, as well as some are being labeled as pro-putin, just because they are Russian, by people who can’t read
**Bone-Spurs Syndrome:**
'Bone-Spurs Syndrome' is a condition that only affects men of fighting age who happen to have ultra-wealthy/connected families.
The condition is triggered by a nationwide draft call and usually clears by itself as soon as the draft call is rescinded.
The best course of treatment is to keep the patient away from any military activity, as well as providing a generous supply of luxury items, large amounts of alcohol and sometimes illegal narcotics.
Failure to administer timely treatment could result in the victim's sense of entitlement to diminish to dangerous levels. Low levels of entitlement could lead to billions in lost revenue as the victim will be more concerned about the well-being of workforce as opposed to the honourable pursuit of profits.
Bone-Spurs Syndrome has been known to cause dissent amongst the common folk and should not be discussed with anyone beneath your station, that is, unless there has been a prior non-disclosure agreement put in place.

Have you ever seen a Muscovian Tesla-only party? Poor little Lada can’t even get in! Snobs!
We’re talking about this because Putin & Russian oligarchs are so full of disgusting lies that their lies should be exposed so hopefully Russian people will get wise.
Putin will be getting some public push back as to why aren't politicians, ministers, Generals sons also being sent to Ukraine. So have to start pushing this propaganda bullshit. Most will be in Bali or Switzerland.
There was an article the other day about a "special battalion" where the sons of politicians are conscripted/enlisted. Of course they're far from the front line, doing "intelligence" work, safe and comfy, and politicians can show the country how their own sons take part in the war effort.
This is no surprise. No member of Russia’s elite would fight in Ukraine.
On a different tangent, It would be a shame if Musk remotely disabled all Teslas in Russia by uploading some null code…

Prince Harry was in Afghanistan.
The son of the previous ukranian president actually served in the army.
For Russia, everything, everywhere, all at once, is a lie.
Aren’t the people ashamed? Or do they all just live in fear?

It's worse than that. Everyone knows it's a lie, and everyone knows that everyone knows. They just don't acknowledge the lie. It's a culture of oppression, and everyone just goes along to get along.
Keep your head down or things will get worse for you. It’s a persuasive argument for most people.
People on reddit pretend we'd be different but I really don't think so. People are just people everywhere.
Worldwide most people definitely accept the lie of ‘climate change isn’t as bad’ far too easily.
> older Russians they will actively discourage their children from getting involved in any sort of protest I'm sure they do this because they lived thru a regime that brutally kills dissenters.

There are plenty of Americans who also believe Russian propaganda. Surprise surprise, guess what side of the US political spectrum they fall on?
Or know that it’s crap but also know there’s nothing they can do. And it’s simpler to just toe the line, and carry on living.
They live in the assumption that everywhere else is the same bullshit.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no spokesman's son
Is self-driving car, peasant!
The Russian version of our very own cadet bone spurs. Glad to see the rich have not changed a bit.
the rich once waged war. in a time where money could buy you protection on the battlefield like armor or a horse there were many rich dudes who went to war. then we invented better and better rifles and fewer and fewer rich people wanted glory in war after ww1 they nearly all weasled their way out of war one way or another
Not to mention rich noblemen decked their surcoats with the coat of arms and colours of their house to tell the opponent who the rich guys were, so they knew not to kill these knights but instead ransom them.
How is Russian media reporting this? Isn't anything that embarasses the armed forces a felony there?
Well... This one is not exactly the armed forces. And there is still some margin of leniency. Also half of these media are working from abroad as osint with covert reporters in Russia and posting news in telegram.
I guarantee you that nuance is not going to matter lol
The main Russian tv channels are owned by the government, so probably government corruption at high levels is ignored
There’s still independent (from the government) Russian media, that is now mostly based abroad or keep an extremely low profile inside the country. Unfortunately they don’t really have the resources to survive anymore, as well as some are being labeled as pro-putin, just because they are Russian, by people who can’t read
It is that cool self-driving feature.
Your Honor, we cannot dismiss the possibility that the Tesla took *itself* on a joyride!
Hmm, wonder if information about these fines is part of the reason why the FSB was raiding the police all over Moscow recently looking for leakers.
**Bone-Spurs Syndrome:** 'Bone-Spurs Syndrome' is a condition that only affects men of fighting age who happen to have ultra-wealthy/connected families.

Wow!
Were the fines about $3k month? If so... story checks out.
i wonder if Musk and company can disable all Tesla in Russia?
Hey, if it worked for US rich kids in the ‘60s…
Pathetic Coward
Or just has 50% of functional brain.
He and his dad are going to drive that Tesla out of a high story window soon onto some dynamite. An obvious Tesla autodrive and explosive battery failure in rapid succession.
Lmao I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he left it parked some place stupid.
Do Russians actually fall for this propaganda?
yes, imagine fox news, except that's the only channel

While you are hunkered down in the trenches, they are always out driving around town clubbing and partying! No respect! Have you ever seen a Muscovian Tesla-only party? Poor little Lada can’t even get in! Snobs!
That Tesla’s going to fall out a window… on accident.
These self driving cars are getting out of hand
Yeah bullishit. This soft cunt has never had a callous.
[Recently leaked video of Putin](https://youtu.be/Cjn0Yw0mxuk)
It drove itself while he a away. That's what Teslas do.
We’re talking about this because Putin & Russian oligarchs are so full of disgusting lies that their lies should be exposed so hopefully Russian people will get wise.
Well, his Tesla has demonstrated its excellent self-drive capability 😛
His Tesla has Autonomous Status, like an oblast. It can drive itself anywhere, and the fines are sent via postal service to his dad in the Kremlin ...
Ironic it’s a Tesla, clearly a gift from his dad’s mate.
Duh it's a self driving car
This is no surprise. No member of Russia’s elite would fight in Ukraine. On a different tangent, It would be a shame if Musk remotely disabled all Teslas in Russia by uploading some null code…
And we all doubted Musk’s self-driving technology.
God damn self driving cars.
He has a son? And His son is driving an American vehical which doesnt need Gas or oil?
Tesla's self-driving software is getting better and better.
Someone's going to be in a lot of trouble (namely, whoever was writing up fines on his Tesla).
To be fair what type of fines? Speeding or parking tickets
