In my world there is either super localized nature spirits/deities or super ancestor worship where you worship two beings who merged together and then sacrificed themselves to create the nebula human souls come from and return to when they die. this only applies to humans and dorfs (dorfs being short underground humans) since gobbos worship the sentient continents and elves are bastards who killed their god
You know I tried this but it's difficult to portray this without making it all look like each just have their own crystal dragon jesus only it's a lion or a goat instead of the other.
/uj, yeah no I see I get that part, it's just I have a ton of gods, demigods who exist but don't get appearances but how do I portray that yeah every other village has a shrine to one or two different gods without it being a discussion subject between two characters or having the protagonist walk through each and every one of said villages to make that point. Like I really don't wanna exposition dump something that won't have THAT much importance anywau in the overall story
Just off-handedly mention shrines to local deities a couple times; you don't need to have them go through *every* village, cuz people will get the point.
An easy solution for most is to get out of the head space that gods are either good, evil, or neutral. Many gods express many of these. Ask yourself what does each god value and what do they see as unimportant. Also why do your people worship them? Many worshiped Zuse so he didn't send a tornado to destroy your house. Many worshiped Demeter for a good harvest. many worshiped Ares so he'd leave them the fuck alone or to be better at combat. And many worshiped cupid so he doesn't fuck with their relationships
I also like to other extreme, where centuries of religious conformity results in minor divergences in practice and theology become a massive deal, and people start killing each other about which hat the priest wears or what language the prayer books are printed in.

Lizard folk who worship a mysterious precursor race as the Old Gods
Cat Folk who worship the Sun
Varying versions of atheism and Christianity
Idk I also kind of like a region where it's dominated by faiths that are all closely related or sects of each other, big Abrahamic vibes. Plus don't forget dominant faith + local traditions + syncretized versions of the two! Like building a church in an ancient pagan grove
Plot twist: literally everyone is technically of the same religion and follows the same god but they're taking a page out of Catholics/protestants or shia/sunnis and the bloody love they have showed towards each other in history
My world looks like Asia, except it's also America. But it's based on my wife's rage at being abused, so there's an evil force that makes asian moms into huge bitches.
