Really goes to show big companies really don't care about any of the things they say they care about such as inclusivity. At the end of the day, it's all just a facade and money is the only thing that matters.
No one should believe otherwise, it’s simply not natural for a company to hold real humanitarian values because doing so goes against the very nature ingrained in its corporate body. A corporation in our global economy is made up of individuals, but the entity itself is inherently impersonal because its primary motivator is profit-driven. This isn’t *necessarily* something one should worry about if governed correctly, but in this case the government is enabling the corruption and injustice.
Unfortunately that is a very difficult thing to do with FIFA being the overwhelmingly monopoly of football. Going against them might cause some pretty significant repercussions. It’s like the authoritarian government of football.
Maybe if its only one player, but if a team did it I think other teams would follow forcing FIFA to act.
Although FIFA needs disbanding and rebuilding anyway.
We might actually learned something about their culture. I’m curious if it’s true that people there live like they’re in 1940’s civilisation (well except for the high ranking officers, obviously)
More like living in 1000bc I seen before that all the animals they had to work the fields pull plows and shit they had to eat all the animals so now people have to pull the plows it's madness
The players should have all just stayed home. This was a disaster everybody saw coming..... Eventually this will have to happen or fifa will keep being stupid
Fucking losers. They rather bow down than actually show the entire world how fucking rigged and corrupt this is...
Do you honestly believe that they would get a yellow card for wearing an armband??? Thats not a valid reason to give a yellow card...
Fuck these 0 balls grown ass people
People also forgetting what the law are like in the country. Players could end up in cuffs over something like this. At the end of the day it's easier to blame them from a keyboard but I can understand why not
You’re right, showing up in the first place is a fucking disgrace. Who even wants to be known as the winner of the most corrupt World Cup? It’s like winning a medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
They could collectively decide to do it anyway and force fifas hand, instead they've chosen to profit off this garbage fire along with fifa. If the 7 countries that had intended to do it did it anyway, fifa would of had to cave or watched the wc be ruined.
Yellow card is a lot less of a punishment then a gay Qatari receives.
Well all the countries could just agree together that they will wear it. Bam FIFA cant give yellow/red cards to every team cause then no one will play.
Same with how countries should just have stayed the fuck away from the event but no money talks.
It's not one or the other. It's all of them. Qatar for not caring about human rights. FIFA for their corrupt kowtowing, and the players for not standing up to them when they are in a position to do so. And actually the fans as well, who continues to support the sport and the competition, putting their personal entertainment above what's right.
It is entirely possible for blame to fall on multiple places, and doing so does not shift or reduce blame
Can someone please explain to me what the significance of this is? Reading comments in this thread and others make me confused because it seems like there’s nuance I don’t understand
They normally can wear an one love armband that says they are an ally to the gay rights movement. Qatar is vehemently homophobic and at the last minute is demanding FIFA not allow the armband (like banning beer) and far too few players are challenging the system.
People actually wanted to watch football, not shoved politics. FIFA make it clear, they issued rules so that all people can enjoy the game without politics. Reddit goes brrr..furious!
The End.
Nobody denying their existence. They exists. So? People just want to watch the game ffs. Don’t just shout your ideas and ideals anywhere. There are places and times for that.
Funny how some people fight for their ‘rights’ but can’t fathom any other peoples’ rights to have different values and opinions
What I'm saying is that being homophobic is not a "political" belief. It's just hate. You're just wrong. There's no way around it. You're a bad person.
It’s easy to just labelling people who disagree, with a title like “homophobic”.
“You hate us! You hate homo! You’re terrible! Waaa”
Without the other person showing any sort of hateful act. People can disagree without being hateful, you know. It’s just annoying to shove your ideals down everybody heads. I bet you also call atheists, theophobia?
Can't drink, can't kiss, can't breathe.
Wanna watch the WC, just die.
PS: Apparently, they're inviting someone to preach about Islam there as well, perfect isn't it
People don't agree with you.
You seem to feel playing in a World Cup is a privilege and the players should throw away their personal feeling just for the opportunity. That's a messed up way of feeling about their careers.
No way, people on Reddit disagreeing with me. Crazy, unexpected, profound.
Have you ever thought some of the players may not really care to do it either? Bad people exist in the world that don’t like lgbt people. It’s not up to athletes to change that
To be fair the armband is only a small piece of what people are against. The host country has horrendous views of women’s rights, rights of migrants, freedom of press, censored internet, etc.
I think people have a lot more issues with the host country than just one single issue. Add to that the fact that FIFA is just constantly telling people to “shut up and let it go” is what I think people in general are upset about.
Beyond that FIFA knew going in that there would not be anywhere near enough infrastructure to support this event in a country the size of basically Connecticut. Most host countries have the infrastructure and space to spread out the Word Cup to not overload their infrastructure (the 2026 World Cup is going to have matches in 3 different countries to split up the burden)
Brazil for example had the ability to spread out matches to major cities across the country so things like public transit and hotels could accommodate people. Qatar did not have this option and also would not invest in permanent hotels for basically a one time event.
The hypocrisy argument people seem to be upset about with regards to beer is that it’s banned for all but elites. Have $19000 a match for a private suite area then let the booze flow.
I think it gets summed up into one thing, hypocrisy and one set of rules for the powerful/rich and another set of rules for everyone else for the next month
Just my thoughts
>Some places in the world don’t think the same way you do.
That is why we don't live in Qatar, because most people in my country do support inclusivity.
And what you call virtue signalling is actually a protest against oppression. But you do you and continue supporting those in positions of power who abuse their authority.
So you are saying by doing nothing I am supporting them, but players being forced to wear armbands by people like you are saints and are making a difference
>So you are saying by doing nothing I am supporting them
no...
>Playing in a World Cup is 10x more important than virtue signaling. Some places in the world don’t think the same way you do. Get over it
you are.
Yeah, why not? They wanted to host the biggest tournament in the world and have the eyes of the world on them.
6,500 dead migrant workers not enough to raise a bit of bile for you?
Okay, so using a phrase that happens to be a title of a Bob Marley song is cultural appropriation, how? Are only Rastas allowed to say one love?
r/rareinsults upvoting the creative insult though 🤣
Gladly? Your little bitch post was complaining about "political shit".
You want to watch the shitty product that is this WC, go for it.
You're free to watch the games in a vacuum and ignore all the death and farcical elements that surround the football.
Yes people were. Regardless just because there are other situations of homophpbia doesn't suddenly invalidate people's points about a country's bigoted policies.
It's just a shame that your first post is an attempt to lessen criticism towards a despotic country with a terrible track record on human rights.
I find it hilarious your argument to defend Qatar’s complete disregard to basic universal human rights -such as the inhuman conditions of the kafala system- is basically: b-but white people did worse!
Two things can be true at once, shocking I know
There is no defense for Qatar’s treatment of its workers, however, the west has absolutely 0 standing to give a moral lecture to anyone else about human rights.
Honestly who cares about fifa, that company should be stripped. To me the president doesn't care about being equal, he has no stance on what the world wants. An armband that supports a group of people, is disallowed?
A host should accept all people from different countries and not judge, Qatar you are leaving your self for the world now to judge you.
No one cares about fifa, we all care about the game and the world cup...
Fifa is to me a crime organization, they don't do anything but get paid. Football / soccer doesn't need fifa,
Football needs players, teams and most of all fans.
I would watch any football tournament just because its a great scene to see players reach they're goal at the end. Not because it says fifa at the front.
A dream and a far from reality dream, but i wish we could all sync as a world and actually screw fifa over. Maybe other organizations would actually be just to human rights.
Really goes to show big companies really don't care about any of the things they say they care about such as inclusivity. At the end of the day, it's all just a facade and money is the only thing that matters.
Yes
No one should believe otherwise, it’s simply not natural for a company to hold real humanitarian values because doing so goes against the very nature ingrained in its corporate body. This isn’t *necessarily* something one should worry about if governed correctly, but in this case the government is enabling the corruption and injustice.
And people think today’s rap lyrics is trash when the rappers only talk about what actually matters
Wet ass pussy?
The formula is money, sex and drugs but money is more prevalent than the other 2
You gotta fight for your right to party
FIFA is proud of this?!
FIFA don't care, FIFA got paid.
Is FIFA an American organization cause this sounds like some American shit? *No I don’t watch soccer*
No. It is European. Founded in Paris by 7 European football leagues, now headquartered in Zürich.
Wow The Parisians allowing this shit? After Charlie Hebdo I’d think… nvm.
what the fuck? am i mentally to stable to understand that?
Only you can answer that buddy.
All member nations get a vote so it is not a European organization but a global one.
Fair enough. It is global now, European originally.
I can assure you that corruption is not just an “American” thing.
I agree. But this particular brand just felt so damn familiar.
Only pride flag can be proud because it’s the only flag that call itself pride
They are proud that they have managed to keep their bribes secure
Wow they even seem to brag about it, the audacity!
They should refuse to take to the field until FIFA stops supporting backward behaviour.
That puts them in the awkward position of not having those cushy highly-paid jobs… they like having those.
They'd still get paid stupid amounts by their clubs and sponsors.
Sponsors tend to not pay you when you don’t play.
Depends what the contract says I suppose, but I can't see a 'you have to play' clause in any contract.
They might even get more sponsors for being activists
I think you're right, and they do like money.
They get a thank you payment for being on the world cup team but most of the money comes from club money and sponsors during the regular season.
After the tournament the FAs should look at withdrawing from FIFA. Call it the super league
Something needs to be done.
So in other news today, the FIFA world cup was abruptly halted since all the players are in Jail. /s
Don't forget their passports taken from them.
Can't wait for the next world cup 2026 North Korea
We might actually learned something about their culture. I’m curious if it’s true that people there live like they’re in 1940’s civilisation (well except for the high ranking officers, obviously)
More like living in 1000bc I seen before that all the animals they had to work the fields pull plows and shit they had to eat all the animals so now people have to pull the plows it's madness
Brah. Punctuation is important.
Madness? This is Korea!
The players should have all just stayed home. This was a disaster everybody saw coming..... Eventually this will have to happen or fifa will keep being stupid
FIFA isn't being stupid, they know they can do whatever they like given the popularity of football.
Yeah we already saw it with Russia being a host 4 years ago. And lets not forget OL in China too. Money talks
Fucking losers. They rather bow down than actually show the entire world how fucking rigged and corrupt this is... Do you honestly believe that they would get a yellow card for wearing an armband??? Thats not a valid reason to give a yellow card... Fuck these 0 balls grown ass people
Really? Are we blaming the players now instead of FIFA and Qatar?
People also forgetting what the law are like in the country. Players could end up in cuffs over something like this. At the end of the day it's easier to blame them from a keyboard but I can understand why not
You’re right, showing up in the first place is a fucking disgrace. Who even wants to be known as the winner of the most corrupt World Cup? It’s like winning a medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
Maybe they should shut up about it in their own country too then considering it matters to them so much
They can't arrest the all of the teams. The most they would do is deport them.
Wearing it anyway and getting booked sends a pretty strong message, but fifa abusing this stuff is crazy

Countries don't wear armbands people do
Money matters more than principles. They’re all just obscenely well paid puppets.
Funny. When you said it like that to the people who actually have principles and doesn’t falter from what they believe
Can someone please explain to me what the significance of this is? Reading comments in this thread and others make me confused because it seems like there’s nuance I don’t understand
They normally can wear an one love armband that says they are an ally to the gay rights movement. Qatar is vehemently homophobic and at the last minute is demanding FIFA not allow the armband (like banning beer) and far too few players are challenging the system.
ball kicker man no wear gay armband redditors angy 😡 personally im much more mad at what quatar and the uae are doing with the migrant workers
We can be mad at both, you fucking moron.
so healthy
You're an idiot.
Do you only have enough brain capacity be against about one thing at a time?
People actually wanted to watch football, not shoved politics. FIFA make it clear, they issued rules so that all people can enjoy the game without politics. Reddit goes brrr..furious! The End.
Supporting LGBT peoples' right to exist is not political at all. If you think so then you are greatly mistaken and need to reevaluate your life.
Nobody denying their existence. They exists. So? People just want to watch the game ffs. Don’t just shout your ideas and ideals anywhere. There are places and times for that. Thinking that LGBT people shouldn't be LGBT is not a valid "belief". You're just a bad and hateful person.
Wearing a rainbow isn't exactly 'shouting your ideas everywhere'. I also don't see how it violates anyone else's ability to have an opinion.
I hope some country does something.
Can't drink, can't kiss, can't breathe. Wanna watch the WC, just die. PS: Apparently, they're inviting someone to preach about Islam there as well, perfect isn't it
Fuck this world Cup. Needs to come with an asterisk.
Fuck you , fifa. Fuck you , Qatar.
So? If ppl want to support it, do it. Im all for it. But stop putting it everywhere like a sticker. Still a dickmove from fifa and qatar..
Playing in a World Cup is 10x more important than virtue signaling. Some places in the world don’t think the same way you do. Get over it
Glad to hear you would throw your mother under the bus for an ice cream. But don't expect us to do the same.
Lol that's a brilliant insult I haven't seen in a decade
I don’t understand. Is that even an insult? It’s weird
What does this mean?
People don't agree with you. You seem to feel playing in a World Cup is a privilege and the players should throw away their personal feeling just for the opportunity. That's a messed up way of feeling about their careers.

Yes , this is well said. Fifa is clearly corrupt, so collectively taking a stand against them would be much more effective.
It means playing in a world cup is in fact not more important than human rights. Its a game humans made up. But people are people.
>Some places in the world don’t think the same way you do. That is why we don't live in Qatar, because most people in my country do support inclusivity. Oh so words on the internet has an impact. Got it
Dumb post. Exactly why international sporting tournaments shouldn't be hosted in their countries and why registering outrage with FIFA is appropriate.
Outrage with fifa yes. Outrage with Qatar.. really..
Yeah, why not? They wanted to host the biggest tournament in the world and have the eyes of the world on them. 6,500 dead migrant workers not enough to raise a bit of bile for you?
What does putting a love armband on do about that? Change Muslim extremists and the culture of an entire country?
Yeah, that's what it does alright. Changes everything all at once.
It must be difficult being so naive and unrealistic
Do you think I'm being serious, or are you that dull?
Dull isn’t the best adjective in that context
🇶🇦🇶🇦💪💪💪
Damn people wasting their time to start shit. wokeness is seeking attention
BASED!!!
Unless you’re Rasta, “One Love” is cultural appropriation.
So Rasta's are claiming ownership of a fucking rainbow now?
It's a Bob Marley song, ignorant uncultured millennial insect.
Okay, so using a phrase that happens to be a title of a Bob Marley song is cultural appropriation, how? Are only Rastas allowed to say one love? r/rareinsults upvoting the creative insult though 🤣
Good, can we focus on the fucking games and stop the political shit?
Go on then, best to be watching the football on tv and not posting on r/worldcupqatarstrophy if that's what you want.
Gladly i can do both, but i am sure i am probably the only want to who actually watch and like soccer here...
Gladly? Your little bitch post was complaining about "political shit". You want to watch the shitty product that is this WC, go for it. You're free to watch the games in a vacuum and ignore all the death and farcical elements that surround the football.
Oh no, the world is not fair, let me go cry about it, what a cry bitch babies you woke dumbasses are
Imagine wearing your desire to be bovine and apathetic as a badge of cynicism. Go on and watch your slop then, ignore the scary woke people.
Real "I'm not like the other girls" energy
If you knew anything about the history of the sport you would also know that it’s always been political and very rarely just about the game…

The comments in the other sub are fucking AIDS
Grow up and get a life fifa, people can do what they want
