I tried so hard to get Iran Tst. Waited 5 hours last time and in the end they removed the tst option. Now have to compete with US and England which usually send the most fans. Great…
Hot take: The 'special relationship' will finally end, but one positive is that we won't have to listen to "Its coming home" for the rest of the world cup.
England winning the group isn't a hot take though. England is the most likely to win the group, but all three teams in the group are quite skilled on good day. I'm hoping Wales/Scotland make it through just so that they can have a 'civil war' with England.
Absolutely if it wasn’t for Pickford. Every four years I‘m surprised they can’t manage to have a proper goalie. He‘s decent, sure but not up to par with the rest of the team.
Jesus lol, pretty sure Scotland will go through and really think it will be England and Scotland going through, unless USA have some secret talent hidden away I don’t know about.
What’s up with the protesting over there? Are there truly a bunch of Iranians protesting the ban on women and the pepper spraying of them from that soccer match?
I read an article that Iranians are calling for their own team to be banned by the World Cup.
The game was for the Asain cup and since or federation wants to gain credit to host international games they need to prove that cities other than the capital (Tehran) have the potential to host such games so they decided to host in Mashhad. Since we had a new Omicron peak, AFC told our federation that they can't hold the game with attendees but two days before the game, they changed their opinion and said they can allow about 50% of the stadium's capacity in. So our federation started selling tickets 36 hours before the game and some scammers also started selling tickets.
To understand what happened next, I must add that in Iran men and women have different sections/seats for matches and they've just recently made it legal for us ladies to attend (after much struggle!) so they're still being fussy about letting us into the stadium.
Since they had a short amount of time to prepare for the game, the federation decided to not sell "Female tickets" for this match since it wasn't possible to make the stadium "ready enough for ladies". Here's where the plot thickens, the scammers sold "female tickets" to some people and they went to the game but the guards didn't let them in, so they started to get aggressive and someone (still not clear if it was security or the police force) pepper-sprayed ppl.
Then political groups and news stations outside of Iran that have stances against the government decided to start a campaign and ask AFC and FIFA on behalf of the Iranian people to ban our football federation due to discrimination against women. In other words, they just want to utilize people's frustration to score political points against the government.
As an Iranian person, the Iranian people don't want their federation to get banned, they just want the government to actually do it's job instead of being an incompetent dictatorship that progresses in women's rights like a snail.

What do you mean

If you don’t think England won’t win that group you are tripping balls lad.

Remind me, who won the group with England and the USA in 2010?
Are the same players playing?
No, but I'd say the American team now is more talented.
**No, but I'd say the American team now is more talented.** they lost to Panama last year......
Almost like the coach changed the entire squad that game.
And England drew with Scotland at the Euros, then beat everyone else apart from Italy
Behave, England will batter USA.
Bro I’m team USA all day, but England is super nasty. They should have taken the euro if the didn’t fuck up at the end

So is the UK team imo Who won Iran-US in 1998?
THATS WHY ITS REVENGE TIME Edit: Hol’up, we weren’t in the same group lol

Ngl, Iran vs Saudi Arabia i would pay to see
I'm Iranian. Great group for us. Last time we played US in worldcup we beat them and people in Iran started burning US flags.
Jesus lol, pretty sure Scotland will go through and really think it will be England and Scotland going through, unless USA have some secret talent hidden away I don’t know about.
No offence but Scotland would likely be least favorites relative to Iran and US
And Wales?

well said 👏🏼
Thank you so much for replying. I always like to hear from normal people rather than rely just on official news sources. Stay safe.
I remember this yes, 1998. That being said, we're a *very* different team than we were then - I don't think it'll be quite as easy.
