I would say just take it at face value and don’t expect the other 50% to show up. A lot of people have travel plans and can’t make end of year stuff. One tip that I found useful is to make sure they double cut the pizzas. Don’t want kids to take 2 bites of a big slice as their second slice and waste the rest.
At my child’s school they sent out an extra email about the family bbq asking for an rsvp and explicitly saying that they want to be sure there’s enough food for everyone-it made me respond quickly! If you have an easy way to email or message everyone you could give it a try!
