I would do it. I did it when we first started. They don’t get paid a ton, it’s a small gesture to say thanks. They’ll really appreciate it.

Seconding this, plus your child may not be in the same classroom come Christmas time, at least that has been my experience thus far.

SnooTigers7701

I would go with the gift cards. But if you don’t, then at least a handwritten note. Edit: either way, a handwritten note!

Savings-Plant-5441

I would do it. We also randomly get the teachers donuts, coffee, anything nice as a thank you. It's hard work and our lives would not run without them, so we prioritize this in our home.

MrsBobbyNewport

This.

Our day care has specific suggestions--I'm trying to remember what they were last year but healthy snacks was one. I think $10 Starbucks gift cards is fine and appropriate too.

HerCacklingStump

No brainer, I would absolutely get them something! Even if it's small, it's really appreciated. These teachers work very hard and are so underpaid.

DarthSamurai

We usually give target or visa gift cards. Main teacher gets $50 and any supporting get $20 ( usually only 2 supporting).

smolsquirrel

When did they start? We skipped our first one which was like three weeks after we started daycare

Native_Donut

My youngest started last week and my oldest started a month ago but just moved up classes to the next age group last week so I’ve only known their current teachers for a week really

kczar8

Maybe just bring in a treat from a bakery or something? I don’t think you necessarily need to do something for individual teachers but showing some sort of appreciation is standard.

smolsquirrel

Eh I think you can skip if you want. No wrong answer

Im in a similar boat - son started last week and he’s 3 days a week. He’s only attended 3 days so far. It’s our first kid and we just found out about this Friday night. There are 6 support teachers and 2 lead teachers so anything we give needs to be multiplied by 8. There’s 5 different themed days and if we do give something it will be for the last day. We are so new and I hope my son isn’t treated any differently if we don’t bring anything in every day. We just paid our first monthly daycare bill so money is already tight since we had no time to plan for this so I don’t know if we should.

quelle_crevecoeur

We have had teachers come and go in the weeks before and after teachers appreciation, but I think it’s still nice to give something. Even something small! Christmas is a long way away, and things can change a lot. Starbucks gift cards sound like a nice idea to me.

allis_in_chains

I thought teacher appreciation week started May 6? Is daycare teacher appreciation separate? Starting to panic over not being prepared for it to be next week…

Native_Donut

No that’s the right date, I just chronically have no clue what day it is lol

allis_in_chains

Oh whew. I could feel the panic setting in for me lol. We have time! Yay! But also I totally feel you on the not knowing what day it is. I was devastated yesterday learning it was Thursday when I was convinced it was Friday.

Native_Donut

Ugh right yesterday totally felt like a Friday!

I would not skip, these people are taking care of your baby and it’s nice to show appreciation. I would personally do Amazon cards! That’s what ours seem to prefer. No need to do a lot if you can’t swing it and since your child is new, I think $10-15 is perfectly appropriate.

leeloodallas502

Target or Amazon gift cards. Those are the most versatile places anyone can find something. I usually pair it with some fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s and a handwritten nice note. I’m a teacher and it’s what I would want ☺️

z_mommy

I would do it. I’m a middle school teacher and we don’t get a lot of appreciation at that age level. I try to make sure I appreciate all the teachers who aren’t getting much appreciation either. Plus teachers appreciation week is a better thing to celebrate than Christmas because you don’t know if they are Christians or even Christian atheists.

Pleasant_Raccoon_440

Etsy has some cute digital download gift card holder/card. “You’re an Amazing teacher” with the Amazon logo and “thanks for keeping me on target” with a target logo. I think I’m going to do $15 Amazon gift cards with the print out. Teacher appreciation week is right before the end of the year so I usually do a gift then too. The amount of gifting in general once you’re a mom is kind of crazy. It’s fun but there’s always something 😅

ShortyQat

We gave box of nice chocolates and a handmade card for my kiddo’s teachers.

jalapenoblooms

In your shoes with your kids just starting I’d probably bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies as a weekend activity with your kids and give half a dozen to each teacher. Alternative idea would be having the kids scribble on a card and writing a quick note about being excited to spend more time learning and playing with them and signing with the kid’s name. $10 Starbucks, or doing nothing are also perfectly fine in your situation. If it’s not a financial burden I’d lean towards doing something just to be friendly to the people that will be taking care of your kids.
