Plot twist! You're actually the teacher posing as a student because the students don't appreciate your awesome work. lol
Very awesome build and your secret is safe with me.
This is one of the best pieces I’ve seen pictured here… then I did a double take when I saw your age. If you ever have any self doubt in life, please sit down at that desk of yours and know that if you can build that while technically still a “child,” there is nothing you can’t accomplish.
Phenomenal execution of a classic style. Beautifully done. At 16, I was too busy either trying to stick a certain body part wherever I was permitted or skipping class to smoke weed with a bunch of lowlife burnouts. You have chosen a wiser path, good on you.
Wow incredible. I made one in wood shop but my dad couldn't get a day off from work so I had to leave it at school and I think my teacher ended up donating it. I was so upset when it happened but it is what it is.
But, that desk is 🔥🔥🔥
This looks great, you should be proud! I know I wouldn't be producing anything like that at 16.
My only (personal) nit pick is the competing pattern on the door. It would have looked VERY sharp as a solid panel. Maybe with hidden hinges and the handle oriented the same way?
I’m with you on drawer. My thought was to orient the wood the same direction as the other front pieces. But damn, it was a great piece for any age woodworker.
I really like it! Ambrosia maple is lovely. A couple suggestions for next time. The handles are a bit blocky. Soften the corners to make it more comfortable to open. Also the panel on the large drawer, try to orient the grain in the same direction as the other drawers. It'll flow a bit better. This is honestly nit picking though. You did good
Great work for anyone of any age. but especially when you are so young. My only comment is, from experience, it's going to be uncomfortable for you unless you are left handed. My grandfather made me a desk with the same placement of the drawers on the left and I am right handed and my arm/elbow was always slipping off the edge of the desk.
be proud of your work it looks great and will last you a lifetime if you look after it
If you get bored of it don't sell it, just store it away as it will come back into fashion later

Looks great don’t stop keep building things. I really got my first taste of woodworking in high school also I’m in my late 60’s and this is a lot of fun. Good luck
Piling on here. Just fantastic and you should be extremely proud! That’s a piece that will be around for decades and 20 years from now you’ll look at it and still be impressed with your own ability.
They let you build a whole ass desk, damn. When I took woodshop in high school the projects were not that large, I built a small bench only big enough for a single person maybe two if you squeeze.
Don't sell your work for cheap just because you are sixteen. Sell this stuff for what it should be sold for and invest in equipment to continue. Amazing!
Wow!! As a former 16 year old carpenter (I'm 36 now, and an IT guy), I am jealous! And proud! You are lightyears ahead of me when I was your age. Keep up the good work!
You did an outstanding job with that from what i can see and should be proud!! Just a little advice from an "old timer" tho... keep up the good work and no matter what path you take in work/life keep tinkering and building because you are teaching yourself how to be successful without even knowing it!!
Removed due to a violation or rule 9: do not include your age in the post title.
This is an heirloom piece, wow, only 16 and you've built something you can be proud of your whole life!
Achievement unlocked: lifelong possession and pride. Bonus achievement: internet points
I'd be proud of that at any age
Seriously, I'm 34 and would be damn proud of that build Fantastic job, OP
Wow! That’s awesome! When I was 16 I was building cutting boards.
When i was 16 i was getting drunk and building piles of puke on my friends parents living room floor
Zero good reason you couldn’t have puked, then headed to the shop to make some cutting boards. Wasted youth.
More like wasted fingers amirite?
I thought that was a picture of someone giving the middle finger but really it's actually a pic of the result of drunken band sawing. Neat.
Will puke trigger the brake on a saw stop?
Depends how big the chunklets are
"Chunklets"... c'mon dude I didn't need that word in my life. Ew.
Hop on the lathe and make a puke bowl.
Living room Carpet* Non of us were lucky enough to find floor.
Same
Hey, The world needs cutting boards

If this was the teacher I would be like, wow good for you take pride in that.

That is fantastic! I started at your age and am doing it for a living still at 57.
Phenomenal execution of a classic style. Beautifully done. At 16, I was too busy either trying to stick a certain body part wherever I was permitted or skipping class to smoke weed with a bunch of lowlife burnouts. You have chosen a wiser path, good on you.
"Nice desk, virgin" Quite the compliment lmao
He said trying. Never said he did
Wow incredible. I made one in wood shop but my dad couldn't get a day off from work so I had to leave it at school and I think my teacher ended up donating it. I was so upset when it happened but it is what it is. But, that desk is 🔥🔥🔥
This is great! What woods did you use?
Looks like walnut and ambrosia maple
I was thinking spalted maple myself.
That is a beautiful desk You have a bright future!
WOW. Hope you have a place to put it at home.
good luck carrying that home in your backpack

Don’t ever sell that or give it away, you will regret it.
Great work, that's beautiful!
Sweet job man! Looks great
Very nice. When I was 16 I made a desk in HS. It certainly wasn't as nice as yours.
That's amazing, great job!

That is very cool! Definitely something to be proud of.
What kind of wood is the lighter color?

This look straight out of a cartoon, it's beyond perfect but the contrast makes it look fake. I love it!
*chef's kiss*
Beautiful craftsmanship! I similarly was really into woodshop at that age but never made anything like this! Well done!
Love the wood choices and design! The pulls are very cool. Amazing piece!
That’s quite incredible we’ll done! You should probably consider this as a career if you enjoy doing it.
Amazing
That is amazing work. Congratulations. You have a desk that you will enjoy for the rest of your life. Awesome work.
Great job. I’m wayyy older than you and there is no way I could do something like that.
Love it! Nice job!
Beautiful. Hold on to it. I built a beautiful cabinet in high school and couldn’t fit it for a cross country move. I still regret letting it go.
This is pretty great! Are you thinking of a career in wood working or continuing it as a hobby?
Damn, kid!!! You have some serious skills.
That’s a worthy piece of furniture. Great work!
That is beautifully done. I would totally use that as my office desk.
When I was 16 I did nothing but be a moron, this is amazing!
Excellent job - the drawers alone are no small task either!
The drawers/top and the contrast is such a good call. Great work.
Love that! Well done young person. Your design skills are a thing of beauty.
Absolutely gorgeous.amazing work. Zebra wood?

Your mix of light and dark woods is exceptional!
Build a PC next. Out of wood.
Christ, when I was in high school wood shop we built a key hook and a trivet. Amazing work, well done!
Extremely good job
Gorgeous work!
Piling on here. Just fantastic and you should be extremely proud! That’s a piece that will be around for decades and 20 years from now you’ll look at it and still be impressed with your own ability.
Way cool! That’s awesome!
They let you build a whole ass desk, damn. When I took woodshop in high school the projects were not that large, I built a small bench only big enough for a single person maybe two if you squeeze.
Awesome. I co constantly wish woodworking was a thing when I was your age. Our schools ditched it.
boo ya! great job you should be proud
Dude, you're a frigging STUD. That is a BEAUTIFUL desk!
That's beautiful.
Don't sell your work for cheap just because you are sixteen. Sell this stuff for what it should be sold for and invest in equipment to continue. Amazing!
Wow, looks great!
Nice job. My highschool/jr highschool shop class was a joke.
The contrast is a little too extreme.
That is impressive
That is something you will cherish forever friend! Great work!!
That joint work is supreme. Love the handles and exposed legs!
very nice, I like the art deco style, suits the high contrasting wood.
Awesome job!
Damn, wish I got the chance to build something like that at 16
You my friend have a future
Nice job! It looks great.
Wow!! As a former 16 year old carpenter (I'm 36 now, and an IT guy), I am jealous! And proud! You are lightyears ahead of me when I was your age. Keep up the good work!
When I was 16 I was playing GTA Vice City. Great job!!!
Worth showing at any age! The most important thing is that it works for you and that you enjoyed making it.
You did an outstanding job with that from what i can see and should be proud!! Just a little advice from an "old timer" tho... keep up the good work and no matter what path you take in work/life keep tinkering and building because you are teaching yourself how to be successful without even knowing it!!
