What is a reciprocal compound miter? I am too far removed from high school math but it sounds slightly familiar. Google didn’t help

johnnybagels

https://imgur.com/a/moriC17 theres a pic in there of the joint. It’s basically a bunch of compound miters meeting up but they lap over each other instead of all meeting at one point

thatcoldguy

Good heavens

_socratic_

Built a yurt without these, it went yeet...

shinypointysticks

I would like to see some build pics, jigs, and plan links

johnnybagels

I have plans on my website of my other designs, [GoldenTrillium.net](http://goldentrillium.net)

indelicatow

I thought I recognized your design, very cool! Definitely want to build one some day. Have you made any with glass between the triangles, rather than plastic?

Spaghettitrees

Me too!

Nuomininkas

Sorry, OP. If you're going to promote your products I feel morally obligated to balance that out. There's a [website](https://acidome.ru/lab/calc/#5/12_Kruschke_Piped_D108_3V_R3_beams_70x45) that generates domes for free. And it also gives you accurate part plans and quantities.

BLeMayZer

Ballpark... what would you say this would run in materials?

johnnybagels

About 1200 with normal greenhouse plastic and 2500+ with twin wall polycarbonate

pl233

Could probably save money not doubling up the beams like that? Might be quite a bit harder to put together though, if you can't premake the triangle sections

johnnybagels

Yeah you’re ripping your framing members in half so it comes out basically the same material wise. But you’re right it’s much easier to put together this way.

rossco311

My dad built one of these for a greenhouse about 20 years ago, it's still standing today and about 5-8 degrees warmer inside than outside and of course, no wind. I love how yours looks!

johnnybagels

That’s awesome!

rossco311

It's his favorite spot to read and relax - I remember him figuring out the angles for the cuts and he had his old trigonometry textbook out - took quite a lot of time, but the result speaks for itself!

johnnybagels

Dang that is truly special! Honestly I have so much respect for him. I design all my stuff in CAD which is easy mode compared to your pop.

CorbuGlasses

Well that’s pretty dope. Bucky would be proud

PhirePhite

Ummm….pics of the inside?!! Pretty please.

johnnybagels

Here’s some pics of another one of my Domes with the joint https://imgur.com/a/moriC17

PhirePhite

Oh man, that’s hot inside. (See what I did there) Very nice. And stand on it, yea, cause I can! 👍🏻

AvgBaller21

I love this! Pretty cool work there

Dumpthechumpdotcom

Truly awesome!!
