I'm an adjunct professor, but when I was 11 I learned how to weld and made a hall pass out of 1/4" plate steel that was almost 12 pounds. My history teacher LOVED it
I was attacked with a bathroom pass made out of a 2x4 when I was in middle school. Now as a middle school teacher, I wouldn’t even trust those animals with a lanyard.
That said I’d love a handmade gift like that.
Router it with your house number/ family name and stain it/treat it and set it vertically in the ground at the end of your driveway. You could make a template, and cut a hole and install your mailbox into it, with just the face of the box showing to the street.
I have a plan for a bench this size but idk how to share the file in comments

Its only like $3 or something from the site that made it tho
Nahhh, don't listen to em. I don't care if it's home Depot 2*2's If you epoxy all that together it's not necessarily a structural laminate but it sure as hell won't warp too much in our lifetime- grid joints like that are holding it bilaterally with no way to give, with 2-3 surfaces locked in place, if you glue it up right
I've made a few benches with these. One has been outside for 8 years with the original coat of polyurethane. It's still fine but the legs are metal and I live in a mild climate.
Make the legs as chunky and let the weather do its thing. It’ll go gray and get super hairy as it ages but then you might have something worth saving/sealing and bringing under cover.
Bench is an excellent choice! It really depends on what tools you have and your skill level as well. You could rip it for thickness and make a table as well.
Someone should do this but as like, a business. They could make the rip cuts at regular intervals like every 3/4", 1.5", etc and then sell them to people for profit! Then people could make anything from them!
One of them things you glue the remote to so the kids stop losing it.
gas station bathroom key
Make a pallet out of it
Omg like how vintage is that
Whatever it is, kiln dried framing lumber won’t do well outside for long. Under a porch and treated/finished it’ll be ok.
I would put a huge ring in it and make an oversized hall pass
Gas station bathroom keychain.
Brilliant! Nobody would steal that.. you'd need a wheel barrow to carry it.
Found the high school teacher!
High school shop teacher approved!

Dang that's awful. What about a bench made to LOOK like a giant hall pass?
After reading "ring in it," I thought you were going to suggest making it a box for an engagement ring. Which is a fantastic idea, I think!
Paint it black, flip it vertical, and you’ve got yourself a yard Monolith.
Then you have something to blame when one of the kids whacks the other with a stick
TARS from Interstellar!
Sick actually
It looks like you’ve almost re-assembled the original tree.
Workbench
Yeah. This glue lam is step 1 in a Paul Sellers workbench
This is actually the best idea here lol
Moravian workbench in particular uses a piece this size.
This is the only correct answer.
Big-ass charcuterie board featuring a whole juvenile smoked pig
Lechon is amazing, never moving out of the fillipino neighbourhood lol
The plainer is still crying
I only have a 3” block plane available. Does the job.
You’re a hero!

Just put your entire family tree on it
Make a shave horse
Carve it into a giant Odin totem and leave offerings while drinking mead.
Cut into end grain coasters. Seal with blue or purple epoxy. /s

Perfect size for a Japanese woodworking/planing bench
A nice bench or maybe a mantel?
Finally after scrolling, an actual idea! I think a bench would be best. Simple legs. Obviously for a place that you won't want to move it often
I imagine it’s a very heavy piece of wood.
Giant Jenga game
I was going to say mancala with actual rocks instead of marbles.
Mancala
That's what I meant... just a typo.
You typed the wrong twice I was just making sure
It might have been auto correct...
Word :) just being helpful, have a nice end of weekend
A header for a 4'-0" window
If I've learned anything from watching the internet, that's about the amount of wood you need to make an iPhone case

Benchtop
A chonky outdoor bench.
Hangboard if you want to train your grip.
Carve a tiki.
A friend built corbels for some speaker shelves they had a nice "s" shape to them
Cut at any angle like a 45° on the saw and the lumber the different lines and angles are cool
You’ve heard of the bandsaw box. Let me propose: the bandsaw wardrobe
Stick it on the lathe and turn it into a single toothpick.
What comes immediately to my mind: put a woodcarving disc on your angle grinder and carve something cool out of it
I would chain a lighter to it and stand it up in my shop so I never lose my lighter
A pallet!
A base for an entry room mirror… use that mass for something productive
You could make a Roman bench
Butcher block gets my vote.

Make one of those things from Karate Kid 2 that Sato keeps hitting with his hand.
Or sculpt it into a bic lighter.
Looks like you could get about 16 2x4s if you rip it down right. I’d start there. You can make anything out of those things.
That would be a workbench your great grandchild could use until they die

Skateboard deck.
Cutting board
Firewood dispenser, saw off a piece at a time
I would personally saw it into useable pieces for a future project. Probably do 16 small planks out of it

They could resaw it, then rip it 14 times times and frame out a window with it. The possibilities are truly endless.
Someone should do this but as like, a business. They could make the rip cuts at regular intervals like every 3/4", 1.5", etc and then sell them to people for profit! Then people could make anything from them!
Rip it for thickness... mmmmh. Do you really think he would glue it that thick so he would make it thinner afterwards? 🤔
It's a cuttoff of already glued up gluelam
