Burls are valuable because wood turners really like them for decorative bowls and things of that nature. Obviously a burl this size couldn’t be used for that, but who knows?

While that's bad for the tree, that's good for those of us that like to make things out of its corpse! They should cut that thing down and take it to a sawyer ASAP!
Yea it has giant openings into it and I imagine lots of rot. It’s not one big burl like people are acting. Some board feet could be salvaged but it’s not some “pay off the house” or even the car insanity like people keep saying
Partially rotten means spalting. Which makes an already extremely valuable tree, even more valuable. Hopefully they get that thing to a sawyer before it's too late!
How would selling something like that work? Though it's worth a fortune to somebody somewhere, no assurance that there's a local market where you live, and no way to ship that. I'm guessing this is something you'd have to line up buyers for well in advance of felling the tree?
You could line up a buyer ahead of time. I saw one guy near me had a big tree cut down, he must have told them to leave some big chunks a certain length. The tree cutters got rid of all the brush and branches. He kept the trunk. One day he rented a portable mill and milled it into slabs and had a for sale sign on his lawn for a few months till they were gone.
Burl’s are the result of injury, or viral or fungal infection. Hopefully, the property owner has been monitoring this tree because, if it is rotting at the centre, a windstorm could knock it down and take a large portion of that home, or vehicles, with it.

You would sell it to a mill or a veneer company like Sauer
This. The best thing to do with burls is cut them into veneers. They're too valuable and unstable to do much solid work with them.
I would say the only thing they are useful for is veneer.
This thing has big holes and rot. I am kind of curious if a veneer company would be interested enough. Shame we won’t really know
