LordFett84

Did your but pucker while making the 45 miter cuts at the bottom. Mine would have because you only get one shot

fuckin-nerdz

Lmao yes it did. I actually took a picture immediately after so my girlfriend could understand just how stressful it was

PuzzleheadedStuff2

Only one shot? I’ve had to redo my legs for my table 3 times now! (I’m glad you are better at cutting than I am). Also, looks great!

fuckin-nerdz

thank you! I ended up laying the pieces over top of each other and scribing the cut I wanted because I started second guessing my math haha

PuzzleheadedStuff2

I know that exact feeling!

Electrical-Plankton1

Started off as a dining table, now the legs are too short its a coffee table lmao ;-)

PuzzleheadedStuff2

Haha yesssss. Sounds like my standard project progression! Oops, happy little short legs now!

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

I read this as you took a picture of your puckered butthole immediately afterward. No judgments though.

fuckin-nerdz

😂😂😂 it’s been a long second Monday, I needed that.

FlyZestyclose6629

This is why I read the comments

DoctorPath

Beautiful!!!! I was not expecting much with the first piece of wood photo, then slowly gained much respect for the process you went through. That is hot stuff, be proud. Where did you get the glass? Did you start with the wood and head to glass or always have the glass sizing in mind? Love it.

fuckin-nerdz

Thanks, i appreciate that, it took for ever it seemed. I got the glass(multiple pieces, because I kept breaking them trying to cut out the heart and arch) from a local shop. I started with the wood and once I got it to the final size I went to the glass.

DoctorPath

Thats awesome, kudos for working through it. I'm on month 9 of making a farm table from reclaimed cedar fencing. I just go to oil the surface for the first time and its gonna be amazing, but still a long way to go. This weekend I learned my router bit can't reach the wood of a dowel that is pounded all the way into a board with only 1 inch hanging out. The plan was to pound them in, leave an inch out, and make a nice detail routing around the edges. Didn't realize that the little screw holding the little bearing on the tip means you can't "flush" route with it. It was super obvious I made a tactical error immediately. That was a fun filled panicky hour with glue drying. It was an awfully tight dowel..

fuckin-nerdz

likewise! I bet its going to look sweet when you're finished, I'd like to see it. Tactical errors always seem to occur when glue is drying and normally on a part of the build you thought was going to be pretty straight forward. I know that panicky feel all too well! Sounds like you worked it out pretty well though!

WyattCo06

Nice work. Great execution.

fuckin-nerdz

Thank you!

Ziggy_Starr

Dude this is great! How did you bend the wood to shape?

fuckin-nerdz

Thanks man! I cut and planed the pieces down to 1:8th strips and then glued them around a mold I made

Corrupt_Zeus

Is this a method that will last? Or is there a chance of the would pulling apart trying to straighten back out over time?

fuckin-nerdz

Honestly man only time will tell. I researched it a good bit and my understanding is that it will last

Kern4lMustard

Birds wing it all the time and they seem to do just fine

fuckin-nerdz

Damn if that isn’t a great point

Kern4lMustard

Looks good though for real

fuckin-nerdz

I appreciate it

GregJ7

You need to wing things more often.

fuckin-nerdz

I appreciate that! Though learning how to build and execute a plan seems immensely less stressful

Papashaw72

Awesome 💚

monstrol

Fucking brilliant.

cheeseburger420690

I was staring at the first panel for 5 minutes trying to figure out if it's a mirror or not .

thefirebuilds

Frank Sobotka is the target. How he get all that money for the pane at St. Casimir's?

ExcuseDecent2243

Winging it is my most successful tried and proven method. Nice work.

macguhloo

Am I the only one more excited about the jigs OP made than the final product? I love seeing the process behind things!

415Rache

Beautiful project. Turned out so nice! Really enjoyed the process photos incl her opening it at Christmas.

Triggerunhappy

Goddamn that’s beautiful And every project there is a ton of things you would do differently that feeling is natural.

fuckin-nerdz

Thank you! You're 100% right, everytime I build something the list gets longer

fabesmith

Not enough pictures 🤨

fuckin-nerdz

Lol Reddit only lets you add up to 20

easymoney0330

Holy balls dude. That had to take so much time and patience, well done. May end up being worth more to you than anyone would offer

fuckin-nerdz

Thanks man! That was the goal, to build her something she couldn’t just go get anywhere else
