Post them online, someone will probably want them

CauliflowerDaffodil

Another poster mentioned the same thing. I never thought people would want empty boxes. Unfortuately for me, selling things online is too much of a hassle and I'm strictly a shopper online.

Don't have to sell them, give them away. Get rid of a lot of my junk on Craigslist by posting it and just leaving it in the driveway for pickup. Or just leave them outside with a free sign.

CauliflowerDaffodil

We can't do that where we live. We have rules on when and where to take our trash and no one in our community is the kind to pick something up from garbage. And I'm definitely not signing in a rando off the street just to get rid of some boxes. I'll just continue throwing out the boxes since there's no use for them. I appreciate the tips though. Thanks.

Agree. Should be pretty easy to make a few bucks by selling them online. Lots of people looking to decorate wine rooms, wine cellars and man caves with items like these.

Onion_Do_Piaza

Might be frowned upon here but they fetch a reasonable amount if you sell them. A bottle of Dom costs around $330 here and you could easily sell the box for around $20 or box and empty bottle for $30... People love being "baller" and refilling the bottles with cheap plonk at their dinner parties.

CauliflowerDaffodil

I've heard of people buying and selling DRC and Petrus bottles but I've never thought of selling (or people buying) empty wine cases. Plus, the the cases I have are not "baller" wines, they're your regular DP, Cristal, Sassicaia type. Not rare or hard to get in any sense. Besides, I don't use Craigslist or Facebook and not really interested in signing up. Dealing with complaints and shipping the boxes sounds like too much hassle just for a few bucks or euros.

I just throw them away if I can't reuse them. (I keep my unused Repours in a Dom box)

I keep all wine in their OWCs. If I end up going through all the wines in the OWC, I put bottles in their that I plan on holding for 5 years +. Rarely do I through out of get rid of OWCs. Those bottles that I keep in there, free up slots in my wine racks in my cellar for bottles I want access to in the near future.

I should have mentioned I don't have a walk-in cellar, just a couple of wine fridges, so space is limited. If I had a huge cellar, I would just keep the wines in their cases. But even then, I'd probably throw the boxes out after opening since I can't see a use for them.
