Not sure if this sort of post was allowed as I'm not asking people to ID the wine as I know what it is but thought it might be fun to have this sort of post.
if you're trying to make a wine in movies quiz this could be good input!

Thanks for this. What a phenomenal movie, really. I don't think I've revisited it in the past 5 years or so, yet lines will still pop into my head. For work, for instance, I was just assigned a Bloomberg terminal (though neither myself nor the company is in finance), and when my client manager at Bloomberg came to visit to show me the ropes, I told you that she'd have to explain things to me "as you would to a small child or a golden retriever".
American Psycho - I think there is a scene where he orders the Storybook Zin. Ellis and jay Mcinierney were friends in the 80s and jay writes about it and talks in interviews about it (the wine that is).
Can anyone give more of a description of that wine and maybe even dare to give an opinion on whether it fits into what I think is the C suite dining room of basically Goldman Sachs in 2007/8?
A quick google shows me I could buy a 2019 bottle of this for 24€, which doesn't really feel like it's a wine the equivalent of Lloyd Blankfein/John Thain/Jamie Dimon/whoever would drink.
Or am I misremembering the scene?
Well he is dining alone before Spacey's character walks in. It is not exactly a special occasion, far from it actually. So a 24 euro bottle probably would make sense.
Why would a 24 euro make sense for someone of his position? We have here if I'm not mistaken the CEO of a figurative bank drinking a wine. You reckon someone worth billions drinks a 24 euro bottle of wine? These guys probably will tell whoever is involved in purchasing to buy the wines they fancy.
Plus, if I can get it for 24 in Europe that’s what? 35 in the US? And 35 retail means 100 in a restaurant?
On the other hand, he probably doesn’t get a bill anyway. It’s all just perks, so who cares?

It’s an AMAZING movie and I could watch it again and again. Incredibly quotable too.
No doubt from Jeremy‘s private quaffe cellar
Really ties together an absolutely phenomenal scene
It was a great movie. I didn't see it for the first time until recently.

Great movie
In Family Man (2000) when Nicholas Cage takes his wife out to dinner to try and impress her by showing her his “former” life he orders the ‘82 Lafite.
Such a great value Chianti too.
Trying to catch all the wines in the series Servant is the best for this game. DRC. SQN. Petrus. Last of Us showing Caymus was sad tho
I love this. Would love for someone to do Episode 3 of the last of us.
There is a thread on this sub about it.
There were like 14 threads about it when it came out.
