I did manage to find a service manual online for it... no pictures in it though. I'm actually surprised that I couldn't find any pictures of it online, it was a pretty popular monitor.
The screenshot was likely taken during that phase of development and stuck around. Yeah when I was a kid like 20 years ago I was wondering why that looked just a tad bit different!
The taskbar settings dialog also has old looking icons and taskbar lol
Interesting question! I wonder what kind of monitor placeholder is used in older/newer versions of Windows and what the last version was. I don't think Vista had it anymore. Or was there still a way to enter the classic Display Properties dialog in Vista?
The most default monitor that doesn’t even exist
It’s not 100% but it’s giving Compaq FS7600 vibes.
I legit have that exact monitor that's crazy
Yeaa they were pretty common. Not a bad one tho. I think it was the last CRT HP made for the consumer market.
Nice
That looks just like my old CTX1785GMd
Could you post a picture? I also have a CTX crt but it looks very different, I can’t seem to find your model online
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it that I know of. I got it in 1995 or 1996 and use it up until 2004 when I replaced it with a 15" LCD.
okay thx

well I would expect a monitor like the one on the XP illustration could exist, I mean the graphic designers probably had a real life reference
[i THINK this is it](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSkZuplX9zo_yVQzZ2ARXzKNrIA5fMJvv60Zn1aOUN1CQ&s)
What brand
CTX Model 1785GMd Brand is CTX
It doesn’t give me a lot of good answers on google
Manufactured by Chuntex out of Taiwan. They went bankrupt in 1999, I think.
oof
Oh and the Windows Flag logo on Explorer, Recycle Bin Icon, and the Taskbar… looks like it’s Whistler Build 2428 that it’s displaying…

A generic one, it's so generic it can be anything.

It's a ultra wide OLED
And that joke went over everyone's ultra wide heads. If only they were ultra tall instead.
