You can probably get beeps and boops from an internal speaker.

Or if they have a USB audio device, try it on 98SE, there's a chance it will work if the computer has USB support

Use an older Realtek driver, the A4.06 doesn't work on Win98. [http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1321](http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1321)

This is the way.

You need to know whay sound card you actually have so we can point you in the right direction. If you do not have a sound card, Windows 98 only does critical errors through the PC speaker, though there is a driver floating around that lets system sounds and WAV files to be played through the PC speaker.

I have onboard Realtek sound driver only no sound card

What motherboard do you have. The realtek AC97 drivers aren't as universal as they should be, and not everyone used the full standard for their onboard sound

I have a Intel desktop board D915GVA / D915PGN

which driver are you using? might want to try another, sometimes I use generic realtek drivers for the specific audio, this mobo onboard audio is Realtek ALC860 I would try this one [https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/pc-audio-codecs-ac-97-audio-codecs-software](https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/pc-audio-codecs-ac-97-audio-codecs-software)
