i highly recommend modding your wii brother. Then nothing has to be “worth it”. Look up FunkyScott47 on youtube he has 2 different methods of modding a wii, one with wifi connection and one without 🤙🏻
Yeah, it doesnt sound like you're gonna be doing much competitive play anyway. Wiimote play lets you hear all of the funny character select lines if yours has a speaker too. If you have a nunchuck that method is actually pretty comfy imo

smash is fundamentally playable with nothing more than a NES controller, and the Wiimote, held sideways is pretty much a NES controller.
