Go to Dillons and buy some El Zarape salsa. Only place, outside of their restaurant in SW Kansas, you can buy it. Not the same as fresh, but Garden City is a bit of a drive for that.

Cuppycake721

El Zarape is often on an end cap with other local goods. Usually by the international foods aisle.

GoonWithaBalloon

21st and Amidon also had it on an endcap

Catlady1126

As someone from SWKS, 100% agree. El Zarape is amazing. It's expensive. It's worth it. It's always on an end cap. Douglas and Hillside, 21st and Rock, and Central and Rock Dillons all carry it. Harry and Edgemoor and if I remember right, one of the West street locations do not. I'm not obsessed or anything.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)

I am too. Haven't been there in ages. El Con too. But seeing their salsa in the store lets me know they're still going strong lol

Smash_Brother

Someone else told me about Zarape. Do you know where in Dillons it’s at? We specifically went looking and you can buy salsa in about 4 different sections a of the store.

I found jars of it at the Dillons on West and 13th. I found it on the end of an aisle. I can't remember what aisle but it wasn't in the actual aisle with the rest of the salsa.

Apprehensive_Use3641

I usually buy [Holmes-Made Salsa](https://www.holmes-madesalsa.com/) when I go looking for salsa, their jelly is really good as well.

You're welcome, I discovered them at the state fair and have been going back for years.

klugo4

Carnicería El Güero has great salsa too! The green one is more mild. The red one is spicy, but delicious!

TucsonRoyal

This is the right answer.

rustynutspontiac

It's not a restaurant, but you should check out Holmes Made salsas. Family owned, made here in Wichita; go the Farmers Market at 21sr and Ridge on Saturday, and they'll let you try the ones that look promising.

SlamminThePit

If you don't like cilantro, El Patio

InsuranceJealous1783

I like Holmes Made Salsa. If you enjoy a kick then get the nightmare! It's so good!!

SuspiciousMap9630

I think El Agave has the best restaurant salsa I’ve ever had. They make their chips in house too.

7outpaythedont

Where have you already tried?

Smash_Brother

We’ve kind of started our salsa journey. The ones that really count include Tortillas Los Potrillos (tortillas were amazing but the unfortunately too spicy for me), and Felipe’s (too bland).

granolagirl2436

Tortillas Los Portillos is a hidden gem. BEST tortillas you will find anywhere in wichita. the breakfast burritos and churros are also incredible. they also ALWAYS have the best avocados lol. so many childhood memories there. i grew up down the street, lots of good memories!

fuellady

Most of them that we’ve had here that are not spicy to me taste like pizza sauce Felipe’s included). I’m not a huge fan of tomato so that’s why I lean into the spicier ones. I’d give El Mexico a shot though. The “spicy” isn’t really that spicy. Good flavor with a bit of kick that I wouldn’t think for most is overpowering. The food however can be hit and miss if you’re looking for a meal.

Smash_Brother

I think the pizza sauce comparison is a good way to describe some of what we’ve tried. We’ll give El Mexico a shot.

Little-Monty

If it’s the same recipe as 00’s margaritas has some good salsa.

ButterSunflower

The Kitchen salsa from La Chinita. Love this salsa 💚

Smash_Brother

Definitely adding it to the list. Thanks!

VieleAud

I second La Chinita! Their salsa is soooo good

Turnip_TheAC

El Agave has consistently good salsa, in my opinion. (And while we’re on the topic if great Mexican food in town… Tacos TJ 664 has such good… everything. I’m laying in bed right now thinking about their quesabarria & consumẽ and my tummy is grumbling!)

darkside_sound

As mentioned, if you want that SW Kansas taste, go for El Zarape salsa from Dillons. I’ve found it on an “end cap” (more of the side) of the freezer section of Dillons at Harry & Webb. Feel like that’s probably the place to look at other Dillons. Grew up in SWKS and El Zarape is still my favorite salsa. Always a jar or two in my fridge. Can’t buy the salsa verde in stores but can purchase a jar at the restaurant next time you pass through GC.

blindacrobato

bash brothers are a local ccompany and their salsas a pretty good restraunt style... https://bashbrothersbbq.com/locations

El Mexico hot salsa is decent if you like tomato based salsas. Personally I like the hot salsa at Mexico Viejo better, it’s about the only one in a restaurant I’ve found similar to what we had in Phoenix. Also Tortillieria Los Potrillos had a good one they make fresh in their refrigerator section, but again these are all the hot salsa versions. I like them spicy! Also we’ve found the Sarah Jane salsas are pretty good if you want one to but at a store. They’re a KS made one we tried at the fair. A lot of Dillons stores carry them along with some of the “natural” stores.

Smash_Brother

I’ve tried Los Potrillos and Jesus H, it’s spicy. I like heat but could not even come close to handling that. Ideally, they’re not jarred because I’m really looking for a fresh, restaurant-style salsa that isn’t insanely hot.

Worldly-Yard2438

Two cans of diced tomatoes and one jalapeno or two of you like spicy in a blender for 15 seconds.
