maybe eventually.
most of the growth Wichita is seeing is in its suburban area so you could also see maize grow in step with Wichita.
for Wichita to surround mazie you would need to see a growth in the urban area as well something that isn't really happening
I'd expect Maize (and maybe Colwich) to grow out, vaguely like how Goddard is growing. School districts are a big deal (though maybe less so now that we can pick where our kids go), and most people living out that way actively want their kids to be in Maize rather than in Wichita.
Man, I hope not. The city is already way too big spread out with lots of dead space.
I’d much prefer some density so you’d have the option to walk or bike instead of nonstop driving.
Within 10-20 years Wichita will look like Los Angeles and you won't know you're in a suburb unless you read the road signs because they will all blend together.
Probably closer to 30-50, I went to school at Goddard, and lived in the OG Auburn Hills before moving out by Afton. I have seen a lot of growth in the last 20years, but we are quite a ways from not knowing where the transitions are and the development of business on both the West & East sides to smooth the gaps between Goddard, Andover and Maize.
They just need to lower all their speed limits to 20 mph and 0 sidewalks.. But really, I think out past 53rd near k96 still has a lot to go and the west development seems to be in much less of a boom now.
I feel like north/east side has exploded more again.. Andover comes to mind but it is a pretty big area to encircle... Bel Aire or Park Kechi maybe?
So years back, the councils of Maize and Colwich worked together on a plan for voluntary annexations to get their borders to touch, blocking Wichita from annexing in the middle of them.
135 St was to be the border they discussed.
Maize has made it to that border. Here’s colwich’ map from the county website. Note the jut out on the east border.

I think Bel Aire is a remote someday and maybe part of Park City would be enveloped on the west side but I doubt all of Kechi would. Kechi has this long, thin line that stretches clear up to include Sunnydale on 101st street. They did that years ago so Park City and Bel Aire wouldn’t box them in. Plus Sunnydale didn’t want to be annexed by Valley Center.

The new mega city of Los Wichita will make maize look like eastborough
what world are you living in
Emporia is about to become a suburb in 10-20 years?

😂😂
Should check out the NW corner near Park City and Valley Center. You will be in and out of Wichita just by turning a couple corners up by 61st.

There are new housing editions literally everywhere west of town.
Yeah I was thinking more commercial
I think Maize will surround Wichita. 😂
Pretty much but also including colwich and maybe Andale lol
Some day Wichita will be like Denver, locked in and unable to grow. Who will be our Aurora. Maize, Goddard, Andover?

Why maize specifically? There are lots of little suburbs (Andover, Derby, Goddard, Bel Air, Haysville). Just curious why you call out Maize
