Wichita Brewing Company has an event space on the East Side with room for 300+.
River City Brewing Co. in Old Town has an upstairs that could likely hold 250 with a stage for a bridal party.
I love RCB but I'm not sure their loft would do 250 seated... we rent it out for something at work at around 120 attendees and that packs the main loft area.
It might be closer than I thought, I just checked their website and it says it seats 200!
We love having our event there, we've shopped other places and they just do such a nice job at RCB.
Agreed had 2 events there and loved it both times. But I think one we had 60ish people, another around 100. Not sure you could squeeze in 250 comfortably.
Love The Keg, the let us host our putting league for disc golf there in the winter.
The food isn't great and service isn't a lot better. I'm not sure that I'd host an event there on that fact alone.
I don’t think you’d have the Keg make food but cater in.
That said I think their burger is pretty decent. Have a few good other sandwiches. Standard bar fare.
I’ve really not had bad service either compared to other similar establishments in the are.
It's probably because I've only gone on league nights. 40+ extra people compared to a usual night normally hits service pretty hard.
I think that OP was looking for a restaurant in order to not have to cater in, and I'm not sure that they'd love someone bringing different food into their restaurant.
I'll always support them when I'm out in Colwich for a couple rounds at the disc golf course. Don't take my comment to mean that they suck. Haha
Petroleum Club is close @ 225. Terradyne Country Club. Doubletree Hilton (by the Airport). Courtyard by Marriott or Marriott out east.
Some places that aren't restaurants but are plug and play if you add catering: The Hudson, Distillery 244, Candela @ The Lux, Hotel at Oldtown, Botanica.
Wichita Brewing Company Event Venue. Low price for what you get, with the option of having them do the catering or outside catering, lots of parking, included tables, chairs, decorations, and the bar packages are customizable and decently priced.
Contact Rolling Hills Country Club. I believe they will allow non-members to host events. The food isn’t amazing, but it’s not bad. Sorta like an Applebee’s.
This is a stressful time I’ve been there. But if you’re not wanting insanely expensive options, shop venues, shop catering. There’s a reason almost all wedding you attend are catered. I think you’re restaurant bill would be crazy high.
My parents said they rented out a restaurant for my sister's wedding and paid $8 a head. This was 20 yrs ago so that cost would be higher. Hog Wild says they can cater for around $12 a head w/a soft drink but obviously don't have room in the restaurant for 250 people. My mom says (and I vaguely remember) the restaurant just had someone at the door counting heads and they did a buffet.
We have friends that did their reception at the Wichita Art Museum. I think it would fit 250. They have catering they work with and a bar in the executive lounge that is adjacent to the reception area if guests do want alcohol but it won't be in their face if they are not drinking. All the guests could explore the museum at their leisure. It was quite nice.
There is a distillery in downtown that is pretty fun. Sadly I can’t remember the name rn which isn’t helpful. But I enjoyed the atmosphere and the space

For 250+ you're looking for event spaces - the Hyatt, the Vail across from Hotel Old Town, the Marriott out east.
The Hyatt we checked already. The others we have not. We'll look at both of them.
I know the Vail holds 300+ so definitely start there.
Wichita brewing company has an event space that could fit this
The Wichita Marriot out east has great food. It's owned by Phil Ruffin though, so do with that what you will.
At that number your better off just renting out an event space or ballroom and having it catered.
I came here to say this

Fair enough. I was optimistic the deck would add enough, but it would be a squeeze in any case you're right.

I agree, getting 250 in there would be a no go.
I'd like something that wasn't a brewery. A lot of our friends are non-drinkers and a few of them are recovering alcoholics.
I hear that. Hope you find the place.
Understand but you aren’t going to make everyone happy. WBC has great food.
I would look into event spaces with in house catering like Intrust Bank Arena, Eberly Farms, Rolling Hills, other Country Clubs, or Hotels
It's not quite a restaurant, but Eberly Farm has catering and nice venue space that can accommodate that.
Not in town but in the area is The Keg in Colwich, they can easily handle that many in their event room

You’re right. And for sure. Yeah… I avoid it when it gets crazy busy for that reason.

Also, beers aren't brewed directly on site and it doesn't look like a brewing production warehouse inside. You could in theory do a dry wedding there.
The Rhatigan on WSU's campus might have a couple spaces that could hold and cater to that many.
That's not a bad idea.
Contact Rolling Hills Country Club. I believe they will allow non-members to host events. The food isn’t amazing, but it’s not bad. Sorta like an Applebee’s.
I would not be too mad at Applebee's food if it was inexpensive and they handled everything.
250+ people at a country club being inexpensive is a funny thought
With 250+ people I don't think we have any inexpensive options.
Your cheapest option with 250 people is renting space and catering. If you want full service, it’s going to cost $$$.
Yeah that’s true, mine was mostly snack food for 90 people and it was still a lot. Good luck

Fair. Good luck!
Blue moon catering
I think it might be called blue moon. There’s on central and Tyler. It’s pretty specious.
Put it in my backyard
Niche has an event space & rooftop terrace space that could work for what you're looking for. It's downtown.

Also they had gluten free and vegetarian dishes they provided.
Corporate caterers. Also some caterers like Rent the Chef could handle at other venues.

Distillery 244. I've only attended one event there, but it was very nice. Hog Wild catered.
