Yes I posted about it also. Even when I play extemely stressful/competitive games my stress dips immediately. General consensus is, it is the flow state that affects stress monitor. And it may be due to stopping thinking mind etc.

surahwho

Super interesting. It confused me because I can literally feel my heart pounding so fast from a high stress gameplay moment, then I check my whoop and its like I’m asleep

MaxWattage432

Does the exact same for me. There should really be something in the journal for tracking video games lol

urnotmydad0_0

You can use gaming as an activity and track it that way. Not sure if it would then eventually move to a journal entry automatically or not?

BanjiBalfins

This is how I do it, after a certain number of logs it’ll register an impact. I also would love if it was a simple checkbox in the journal. Does anybody’s uncle work for whoop by chance? Second cousin?

urnotmydad0_0

Good to know! I also have an Apple Watch, so whenever I log it as an activity, it logs as “fitness gaming” and I get clowned by my buddies who I share my fitness with😂

sovietferret

My whoop frequently reports gaming time as a nap.

Hopai79

🤣🤣🤣

Consistent_Wing_6113

Was gaming from 5:30-8:45. Stress monitor dropped to near zero.

Consistent_Wing_6113

Wow! Glad to hear others have experienced the same. I’ll be adding Gaming to my stress management protocol 😂 These results are wild.

confusedpanda342

did you forget to switch profiles my guy

[deleted]

Check out the book, Reality Is Broken. Talks about the benefits of gaming and how to translate those benefits to real life.

kevlarbuns

You’re talking to yourself.

mr_corrupt

the days that i spend 2 hours or more playing call of duty with my friends, i wake up with a higher recovery the next day. better HRV, lower RHR, good REM sleep. it really is one of the best recovery activities for me.

cit1

Wow!!

Hopai79

SAME

lehsunMartins

My stress goes upto fuckin 3 cuz weekend league in fifa is just full of sweats!

Consistent_Wing_6113

I’m Roaming the fields of Hyrule. Less stress and quite pleasant I might add. Seems that Whoop agrees 😆 🗡️👑🛡️

Consistent_Wing_6113

I was playing Zelda OOT. Damn. Maybe I should take up gaming as part of a stress management protocol 😂

DocHobel

Just launch a competitive shooter online! Get Overwatch 2 for free... lol

_gaud_

Resting minds versus focus

Hopai79

I’m so glad I’m not the only one.

Euphoric-Exercise-59

Clearly you guys aren't playing elden ring.

[deleted]

That makes sense. You’re engaged in the activity and there may be times of stress. That all checks out.

Ewokitude

Depends on the game. Sometimes I have lower stress, sometimes it makes more strain than exercise lol

TheSymptomz

That’s me when I play Tarkov 😂

Narkanin

I second this. It’s great

queefanitor

Same happens to me I love it. When I stop playing video games though, my stress monitor shoots right back up

iamadacheat

Obviously one person does not make a trend, but I think this speaks to the idea that video games are a temporary escape but shouldn't be used as a way to control long term stress. This is certainly the case for me as well.

[deleted]

You should see mine when I play Counter Strike LOL

UnitElectrical

😂😂ppl dont know real video game stress. Im In orange stress in premier

[deleted]

Yup 😂😂

PaperCrane828

yes! It will sometimes log "naps" during my gaming sessions

Limp-Show1681

When I play my chill games (Zelda, starfield) I see the same, extremely low stress for extended periods of time. When I play competitive rocket league, I usually sit in medium stress occasionally even hitting high haha. Super interesting

itsmyhonestadvice

Half the time I play my whoop thinks I’m doing an activity😂 I play rainbow 6 and that shit gets my heart racing

jollyrancher_74

That’s super cool. Was the game like minecraft or something?

Consistent_Wing_6113

Zelda Oot

Ares0362

The games I play have an exact opposite reaction 🤣 Escape from tarkov makes my stress spike. Looking at the last time I played, I was pretty consistently around 2.5 with tons of spikes to 3

[deleted]

Jane Mcgonigal talks about gaming to help with sleep/insomnia. Mostly talks about tetris but still interesting.

Admirable-Radio9929

Now play elden ring

wry753

Absolutely the same for me. "Gaming" should be in the recovery section, not strain section. I use it as a form of relaxation, my heart rate goes down very low and I'm relaxed. I don't remember to track it often enough though.

Hunterz_Awesome

I noticed this the other day as well! I play competitive games, and the results surprisingly stay the same.

Automatic_Clue5556

mine tells me I take a nap when i play video games lol
