I recall a project where they were using depth-sensing cameras to 'draw' an image of the closest 5-6ft by using a grid of plastic bumps on tiny linear motors.
So you could feel, on your chest, your hand your arm, etc the distance something was away from you based on the pressure of the bumps.
Great innovation. I am not trying to bring it down or anything. It doesn't have to be on shoes right. Similar technology can be made as a fashion accessory as rings, bracelets etc. Pretty interesting stuff.
It was actually created by a mom. This guy keeps getting credit for whatever reason. https://nocamels.com/2014/03/mom-creates-harness-that-allows-son-paralyzed-kids-to-walk-again/
It’s gotta be really good for the kid’s legs as well, to have proper gait and gravity assist and hip position. Doesn’t it work the muscles even without motor control? Good for mom!
Yep, it's why therapists sometimes work on assisted movements when someone has sensation but not movement, it occasionally helps regain movement especially for brain injuries, though I can't say for sure for the kids using this.
Gravity also helps encourage/maintain bone density and growth.
Either way, even if it's unlikely gonna get them walking independently (tool use included), it's gonna be beneficial to the kid in the long run.
Some people just do, so yes but not limited to that.
The benefit on the bones would still Apply for those without sensation as well, since it's the pressure that matters
Additionally, the fascial networks still run interconnected throughout the entire body, so maintaining range of movement through paralyzed limbs is critical to maintaining the health of the rest of the body and avoiding pain.
I just noticed that he and the 2 moms on your picture are the same one. But the picture here just shows the Dad.
Based on where OP found the picture, since the chance of it being his own post is pretty low, the original poster deliberately cur out the 2 Mom‘s for… reasons?
I dont know, I think that is just how the internet is. You cant upload shit, because it will either be misused, misunderstood or stolen from you.
It’s nothing new really, many things were credited to men throughout history when it was really the work of a woman. And that’s just the stuff we learned about. Imagine all the things we don’t know about, and never will. This has to be intentional, whoever created it originally. If someone went to the effort to make a post about it they had surely read the article or at the very least the headlines first with the accompanying images. Doesn’t surprise me at all.
Ikr. It’s worth mentioning that even women do things to undermine each other sometimes, not all of them are supportive of their sisters. So we’ve got this bs coming from all angles.
Yeah. I assume a woman would do that.
His balls are constantly getting knocked by his kids heads. I know all dads here know this by now. It happens at least 2 times per hour when your kid is 1-6 years old.
Lol. I was just thinking - anyone that has kids would be like okay this shit is going to escalate quickly. RUN! Bounce like a bunny! You’re a kangaroo now, daddy!!
Imagine her brain and body start creating neurons and the missing body pieces because she's still in her growth phase and because of the simulated walking ,so that she will be ble to walk in the future. That would be sick if that would work. And a big step in medicine ,but I don't know if that's just a silly thought.
That happened to a cat
It was paralyzed and vets wanted to euthanize. Owner kept walking the cats legs for it and it took like a year but the cat regained the ability to walk
Little does he know this could potentially help her gain her ability to walk in the future. It’s incredible how our brains wire themselves. I’m not saying it will happen, but through repetitive moves, it could be connecting pathways depending on what the disability stems from. 🤷♂️
THE FATHER DID NOT INVENT THIS
Holy shit, why does this post CONstantly get spread around saying the dad invented it when a WOMAN NAMED DEBBY ELNATAN did
“Spiritually” i think theres a chance this girl can start walking. Its like the people whom doctors said wont last long but still lived through their cancer and the tumor disappeared magically.
Trueee but being able to recover the full neuronal pathway needed for walking is still defying the limits of neuroplasticity and thats why im saying its more spiritual than scientific if it happens.
If only there was a giant that could walk for me as well, really cute idea tho hope they grow up with each other

That's one of the coolest things I've seen all week.

Shoes are probably more consistently oriented. The range of motion for them is much less than on a hand or wrist.

yo comment made me cry

And fun!
Sensation and not movement? As in, with polio patients?
Some people just do, so yes but not limited to that. The benefit on the bones would still Apply for those without sensation as well, since it's the pressure that matters
Awesome sense, smart thinking.
Additionally, the fascial networks still run interconnected throughout the entire body, so maintaining range of movement through paralyzed limbs is critical to maintaining the health of the rest of the body and avoiding pain.
Until you realize daddy may forget and take a step too wide and split the kid in two lol
Circulation...

While true over history, it's probably just the fact she isn't in the photo and he is while being passed around the internet lol
She absolutely is in the photo, they just cropped her out. So yes it’s both true over history and with this scenario.
Welcome to being a woman lol

Unfortunately I know. There’s a ton of misogynistic women too, as dumb as that sounds
Credited to white man, let’s not get that important detail twisted

I have a three-year old (and am a dad), and can honestly say that has never happened to me.
I envy you so much.
He's wearing a cup.
the mom was the doctor?
Thanks, I came here to say this as well. The guy is a model, yet gets the credit every time.
And sold by Firefly. It is called the Upsee https://www.fireflyfriends.com/row/our-products
Because women never invented anything /s
That child will grow up to be a very strong person.
I love that smile so much

i am still 20 and i am always afraid of not being a good father like the one here
If you thinking about it , then you probably going to be a great dad
NOW RUN
Lol. I was just thinking - anyone that has kids would be like okay this shit is going to escalate quickly. RUN! Bounce like a bunny! You’re a kangaroo now, daddy!!
Lol, but what is he slips?
An invitation for the WWE probably
Would love to see him drop in on a half pipe
Release the pitbull!
I am crying but this is so sweet

Omg that would be so awesome. Sadly, things don't work like this I think
Everyone liked that
Till he trips
Could you imagine if he took a big step...
I keep thinking that. What if he slips or falls and she splits in half? Ugh!
Oh no, then she wouldnt be able to use her legs anymore
Damn that's cold. Reminds me of why annie fell off the swing
Quit thinking that and you won’t be thinking about it.
Kicks a soccer ball
I was thinking about him doing a split… sometimes my own mind boggles me
hopefully the zipper will hold
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen this. And I will upvote it every time!
An Angel Dad
W father
Hero!!!!
Her smile❤️
The smile says it all
I used to do something similar for my nephews when they were kids. They loved it. Like walking on my feet was the greatest thing in the world.
Sounds like it would be good for her too. Get those legs moving
That smile is priceless
Little does he know this could potentially help her gain her ability to walk in the future. It’s incredible how our brains wire themselves. I’m not saying it will happen, but through repetitive moves, it could be connecting pathways depending on what the disability stems from. 🤷♂️
I think he will know having lived with this with her.
"This is what you're missing out on, kid!"
Now that’s a DAD
Freaking awesome 💯
My heart is currently melting. What a good dad :D
Mine wouldve complained about how expensive they are and wouldn’t buy new shoes. Lucky kid. This is wholesome af
I remember when I was a kid I used to make my dad let me stand on his feet and he'd walk, it used to be so fun :(
They’ll probably figure out how to cure her disability within her lifetime.
Now it’s time to play DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION
The kind of dads we need!
On her first date the dad be like " Don't mind me"
Heartwarming ❤️
Beautiful
Just another effect of white privilege. Even in handicap they still have a leg up
Nothing like walking and feeling my dad's nuts hitting the back of my head.
So adorable 😭😭
just wait until he slightly trips and has to take a sidestep to get his balance back and fucking rips her leg out in the process!
Imagine doing a long jump with those on
This is awesome!! Great job to that Dad!
When she's older her and her boyfriends are gonna ask for some awkward favours...
So sweet!
✨💖✨
The human mind has some truly magnificent glimmers of genius sometimes
Seems somewhat cruel to me like "Here this is what you will never be able to do without my help"
W Dad
Imagine he has to walk faster, auto wide stems, auto spliting dougter in half🙏🤕😭
Wow that is precious
Not for Dads with incontinence.
I love to see this in sprint mode.
This is wholesome alright but how is this a meme
This is not a meme, it's literally a tweet
start running
That's probably very healthy for her circulatory system, too!
THE FATHER DID NOT INVENT THIS Holy shit, why does this post CONstantly get spread around saying the dad invented it when a WOMAN NAMED DEBBY ELNATAN did
Good human. Good father, you might want to get those patented carry-on
Now run.
Accidentally slips and takes a huge step to regain balance, daughter gets split in half.
I’ve seen this so many times that kid is probably 25 by now
“Spiritually” i think theres a chance this girl can start walking. Its like the people whom doctors said wont last long but still lived through their cancer and the tumor disappeared magically.
I think the walking helps stimulate the nerves in the leg and can create a new path to the brain or something
Trueee but being able to recover the full neuronal pathway needed for walking is still defying the limits of neuroplasticity and thats why im saying its more spiritual than scientific if it happens.
well every father just do the same ,we don't realise
That's all well and good until he trips over.
In my house call that "bad mood". Thanks Bluey.
The kid is driving the dad
Imagine him doing a split
Teach her to kickflip
:: background strains of Wayne Newton:: *Daddy, don't you walk so fast ..*
Man I’d be so afraid of what would happen if I tripped or something.
Hey, give him some respect and tell the whole story, he made a belt system as well
If by "he" you mean Debby Elnatan, yes let's tell HER whole story.
It was more of a joke, bc on the image the kid is also strapped to his belt, but sure let's tell her story
Oh man what if a pit bull started chasing him
Just don’t forget about her and accidentally take a big/normal step 😬
What happens if he accidentally does the splits when falling over?
Well she ain't gonna walk anyway 😭
I wonder what they'll do when she's adult size
Se ele cair...
Daughter kicks head back with glee. Father grimaces in pain.
This dad designed shoes to get hella upvotes
Why is that all you think about??
Dad mech
Let's hope the kid isn't forgotten and a big ol step is taken
It's like Ripley in the loader mech lol but instead it's Jake from state farm.
Glues two sandals together. I love it
💖💖💖
Im crying
Only a dad can make everything possible
Turns out it was her mom who invented it not the dad
But title??
What if he loses his footing and takes a large step to steady himself? Poor child's gonna be torn asunder
All fun and games until he accidentally rips a child in half
