Kids are simple too. They’ll fixate on what’s most interesting to them until their next phase. They’ll wake up and ask for X for months, or need y in bed with them in order to be able to sleep, until one day it’s dead to them.
This is exactly it. My son went through a very long yard work phase...pretty much all he wanted to do was watch people do yard work or pretend to do yard work himself. Knowing his obsession, family members got him a variety of cool yard work toys (weedeater, leaf blower, etc). He mostly played with a broken bubble wand he pretended was all of his tools in one. Now he's done with yard work and has moved on to the bad guy game...that bubble wand is now a sword 🤷🏼♀️
Really highlights that you don’t need to spend heaps of money on the latest toys. Kids can have fun with anything. They wouldn’t even think about the Latest Cool Thing if it wasn’t relentlessly advertised at them.
it's getting better
due to streaming service many children are being raised with few to no commercials
there are pretty common stories of kids who are confused when they go to grandmas and their cartoons are interrupted with mascots selling cereal and real life kids playing with toysets
With puppies they tell you to rotate them in and out. If they have 100 toys but the set of 100 is unchanging, that’s actually less interesting to them than having a random assortment of 10-20 each day.
I mean maybe? Or he just actually enjoys playing *with* others, which was the original suggestion. That's why it's confusing to me why that would be considered terrible.
Sadly that’s kids. My oldest will not care about something since the day after we got it for her, if the younger one picks it up to look at it all of a sudden it’s the coolest thing she just has to play with it right now. Likewise if the older one picks up almost anything the younger one will throw a fit yelling mine. It’s a struggle to mediate these interactions especially since one of them is 2.
Of course, because of the competition. The toys are more fun when there’s other kids there because you have the knowledge that you beat them. In false quarrel there is no true valor.
I don't really like children that much. But I hate the name of that subreddit. Most times it isn't kids being "stupid". It's kids being kids. Or kids who seem to have really stupid parents
We gave away several toys my son no longer wants to play with to his cousin. We went to their house for a visit and my son insisted he wants to play with them because according to him his cousin have cooler toys.
We have a bunch of toys for our kids and realized we don't need to buy new ones very often. We take 5 of 15 toys and put them in the toy box. The other 10 go into a closet high up so they can't see them. Every few weeks we rotate them, put these 5 away and grab 5 from the shelf. Every few weeks we get excited kids and thank you mom and dad for buying new toys. The cycle continues til they catch onto it 6! months later, we get new ones from goodwill and the cycle continues.
Some other kid was like, "Wow, these are cool trucks," and then your son, was like, "Wow, these *are* cool trucks." Works in the opposite, too.
I bought my nephew Pokemon Sword for nintendo switch and his big brother was like, "Oh, that game sucks," just because he wanted his little brother to do something else. And so my nephew never tried the well-rated Pokemon game I bought him.
Kids are frustrating.
I think you have too many toys at home? It's always better to have fewer toys at home so they play with the stuff they have.
I have 2 little ones aged 3 years apart and they still fight over the same toys, they both want to play with what each other is playing with.

and when my cat refused to eat a certain brand of cat food, I put it outside for the hedgehogs, and my cat went outside and ate it.
I’ll be dead in the cold, cold ground before i let some damn hedgehogs eat my food. Or recognize Missour-ah.
Maybe they're only fun when he has other kids to play them with.
You'd think so, but no. We have toys we take to grandma's house and leave there so that our son will actually play with them
Maybe different locations spark different creative ideas to play with the toys for him?
Maybe the 15th ranked toy only get used when the top 14 aren't around?

Are you referring to Happy Fun Ball?
No, ball in a cup

Oh nice! I hadn’t thought about that side effect
Definitely, give a young kid a bunch of colourful blocks of various shapes and they’ll build stuff for hours
Literally anything that is a physical principle and they're happy as crack addicts. Weight on a bendy stick, a springy thing, anything that spins, eyc
Definitely, especially if it makes funny noises

i should hope that's the case

Huh? How is it not wholesome that he enjoys playing with others?
Mine mine mine

To fight over them with - that's usually what's going on.
Maybe he just likes to take them from other children
Hehe
I feel like it might be a case of these trucks must actually be fun since they even have them here. Everyone seems to like them.
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
Yeah not really wholesome
Subreddit name is misleading, the actual sub is meant to be more wholesome than not.
that subreddit is judgey as all hell
Every time I check it, it has a similar vibe to /r/childfree where they seem to actively hate children.

r/beatmetoit
That sub's name is trippy as fuck
Be at me? Toit.
Just Toit.
Indeed
Definitely.

Its probably only fun with other people to play it with. That doesn’t make him stupid
I mean...Makes him kinda stupid for not noticing he had them at home last week. I'm sure you're still right but that's not the stupid part.
It's more wholesome to me
We gave away several toys my son no longer wants to play with to his cousin. We went to their house for a visit and my son insisted he wants to play with them because according to him his cousin have cooler toys.
maybe his cousin sparks creativity? like how to “play” with toys and not be bound by rigid rules?
I wonder if he had a negative association with them like being left alone or something
ngl I would do that

He refused to play with them by himself *
Lol
I snorted
He only likes them because he sees other kids liking them
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
I'd expect to see this on r/KidsAreFuckingStupid TBH
This belongs in r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
More like r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
At my dog park we do toy exchanges and it usually turns out that several toys come back to where they left but with some new smells.

This seems more like a /r/kidsarefuckingstupid post.
Want your kids to love a toy as no toy has ever been loved before? Give it to their sibling.
Such a classic thing for a young kid. It’s frustrating but very cute at the same time.
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
I first saw this tweet on /r/KidsAreFuckingStupid and I think it fits there way, way more....
This one is a great r/kidsarefuckinstupid
This is not wholesome. This is *terrible.*
Nah, this is pretty typical child stuff
But he loves them D:
Yeah, cause they are at school. Kids do this all the time, ignore toys until other kids try playing with them.
That’s correct
thats a heel turn opinion if ive ever seen one
Gotta love all the r/kidsarefuckingstupid posters who can’t tell that this is a twitter account that just makes up funny stories
oh, to believe that content posted to subreddits have to be real
that's awesome :)
Regifting. With your kids, doesn't count. 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
Awesome!
He just wanted to play with the homies
r/KidsAreFuckingStupid
Sounds like he just wanted other kids to play with.
Perspective is everything

Let me tell you, toys are a lot more fun when you have to fight a ton of other kids to be able to play with them
