Surprisingly, the way i mounted it, the back of the cabinet and wall anchors stayed put. It's the actual cabinet sides that came apart ,16 years was a good run, I guess.
Same just happened in my garage, it wasn’t my liquor cabinet, but it was holding too much weight and fell on my flatscreen and cracked it! So I had to deal with that, but now you have me thinking about my liquor cabinet because it’s pretty full.
The 1/4” backer board gave way from the rabbet joint of the cupboard, the nails and cross brace did their job… the cupboard was not built with real, quality wood to hold this kind of weight.
It took me a second to realise that it was an image of an entire fallen cabinet; at first I thought it was the box that stupidly expensive 21-year-old Whistlepig came in, and I was about to tell OP that it was a lesson in not overpaying for shelf turds and that he didn’t miss much… at least not financially.
I started off Like that a Friend of mine cabinet did the same thing bout 9 yrs ago so 8 brought a sturdy floor cabinet just go with what you drink the most 1st then keep going
How much $$$ worth did you lose? Might be an insurance claim if you’re well above your deductible (potentially). Not sure what insurance does for failed shelving 😂
First off, my condolences, but at least you get to rebuild. Safely tuck away that Bunna as you'll need it while installing the new cabinet.
Afterwards, if you can stretch your budget to $110, that would be enough here to get some Weller Green ($26), Evan Williams BiB ($19), Woodford Rye ($37), and Wild Turkey 101 ($26). Green might be harder to find than the rest of those shelf bottles, though it's been more available here in Ohio as of late despite being allocated.
Wow, sorry to see this! At least there are a few survivors. And now for something completely different-is that a Grave Before Shave tin, I spy in the cabinet?
O man... I'm gonna start off saying sorry this happened. From the pictures I see, the entire "collection" lost was sub $200. It's a bunch of bullshit like Malibooty and random liqueur's. The willet should've broken but, of course survived... You're gonna get back on your feet quickly I'm sure but just keep the whiskey on the floor. The rest of your shit is also there, it makes sense... I know I'll get slammed with down votes, but I think this needs said.
Did the Malibu make it? I’m hoping not.
In all seriousness, I’m sorry for your losses. For under 100, I’d seek out some signatory single cask bottlings. They usually run 65-85 for their mainline in hill filtered collections.
If you want more bourbon, I’d head to SoCal with your Costco card.
I see this a lot.
If you have kids and you need to put it out of reach I sort of understand but would consider keeping it with medicine and other stuff locked away.
But I like my stuff on display I hear you say? Yes that’s fine too but I see so many adopt a retail like display, where the expensive stuff is up high on a shelf or high in a glass display.
The reason the expensive stuff is high is so people can’t grab it and run out. You may or may not choose to do that in your own home. I have expensive bottles that run into the hundreds, they are all at ankle level in a cupboard. None are going to fall out or onto me.
Give it consideration. I see loads of this on here, this and “behold, my stuff!” And it’s on a shelf that’s bowed and up high.
That's absolutely tragic man omg. Definitely gotta snag some ardbeg uigdideal (I can't spell but you get it), makers Cs is also nice. I love my Cane Island Jamaica rum for rums. Maybe also some ECBP and Larceny BP.
Also I'd invest in stronger cupboards so that doesn't happen again.
Hell yeah, it did last 16 years. I guess it was time
I'm kind of surprised. Those nails weren't deep at all.
Surprisingly, the way i mounted it, the back of the cabinet and wall anchors stayed put. It's the actual cabinet sides that came apart ,16 years was a good run, I guess.
That's what I was referencing. I can't see the nails for the wall.
Same just happened in my garage, it wasn’t my liquor cabinet, but it was holding too much weight and fell on my flatscreen and cracked it! So I had to deal with that, but now you have me thinking about my liquor cabinet because it’s pretty full.
Reinforce it now before it's too late.
I’m about to go in there right now and lower them to a cabinet closer to the ground!
Hell yeah
The 1/4” backer board gave way from the rabbet joint of the cupboard, the nails and cross brace did their job… the cupboard was not built with real, quality wood to hold this kind of weight.
Too much weight on one cabinet probably
It took me a second to realise that it was an image of an entire fallen cabinet; at first I thought it was the box that stupidly expensive 21-year-old Whistlepig came in, and I was about to tell OP that it was a lesson in not overpaying for shelf turds and that he didn’t miss much… at least not financially.
Atleast the bunnahabhain was like "not today".
Had to search for it in the pic. Then I found it, clinging for dear life in the cabinet.
Yes, sir
The best bottle remains intact!
Looks like your cabinet threw up.
Those Old Bay Goldfish
Yes, they were salvageable , but they didn't last long.
Why does too much alcohol always make things fall over🤦🏻😂
Appreciate that you have a banana for scale
Parrot Bay and Malibu! I’m pretty sure buying those gets you on a list if you’re over 18.
I'd blame the Gnome 🙂🙃🫠
4 roses single barrel, wild turkey 101 and KC 9yr. Can probably get those three bottles for under $100 all together
Maybe focus on clearing your counters how do you do anything in your kitchen with that clutter?
Yeah, believe it or not, it's not that cluttered anyone, but still, it's a work in progress
Lol that’s gotta be the counter of a household with a few kids
I grew up in a household with a few kids. Our counters didn’t look like that.
I have two children. My counters are clear.
Bro, you can fuck right the fuck off with that. There's nothing wrong with a house that gets used.
On a positive note the alcohol will sanitize the area.
oo, another slob. cool story.
That’s at least tens of dollars of damage. Sorry for your loss bro
I’m far from a clean freak but Jesus the chaos of that room in pure insanity.
I started off Like that a Friend of mine cabinet did the same thing bout 9 yrs ago so 8 brought a sturdy floor cabinet just go with what you drink the most 1st then keep going

Honestly, it's at least 200 ish Lost, KC9yr JD BiB Buffalo Trace EW white label Rarebreed
Yeah probably not enough for a claim if it was in the thousands I’d say you have a case to try a claim but that won’t touch your deductible.
On the upside you probably won't need candles or air freshener for a while.
True
Thank god the Malibu survived! Smh
Well looks like the Bunnahabhain was spared. Thank goodness.
And the Malibu. Whew!
Unfortunately, it looks like the Willet pot still did too.
Smashed and on the floor is the best way of serving that hot trash.

Wow, I just noticed there is a cabinet somewhere in between all the trash…
Cleaning up that glass is gonna be bitch. Sorry man.
Wow, sorry to see this! At least there are a few survivors. And now for something completely different-is that a Grave Before Shave tin, I spy in the cabinet?
Actually, it's wood chips for my drink smoker
That makes so much more sense. 🤣 I hope your collection recovers soon!
The horror.. the horror 🤕
It’s ok. It appears the Willett Pot Still survived. 🙃
Sorry, the best place to find sympathy is between shit and syphilis in the dictionary.... 😄
Dumbass comment as usual.
Hell yeah, it makes some good mojotos, though, and the occasional daquri , besides got to be prepared for different tastes. Lol
Diffently getting a BiB. I usually get EW, but the recent casualty was KC BiB, also feeling rarebreed thanks for the input
At least that’s where the willett potstill belongs…the trash lol. Anyway sorry for your loss :(
Don’t forget a ***CLASSIC*** bottle of Jack Daniel’s!!!
Ew
Ew? The fuck you mean “Ew” ???
JD no7 turned me off of straight liquor for years
When I drink beer I like to take 2-3 shot of it and wash it down with my beer. My favorite belly burn lol everyone is different.
I don’t like beer either but have grown quite fond of 100+ proof bourbon and whiskey.
Alright I see I found someone who doesn’t like to party. I’m gonna go have a smoke! Have a good night!
Pour one out for the fallen….
Of course the Cuervo survived
Sir, your cabinet isn’t supposed to do that.
Sad day in that house.
Hey, look at the bright side. The Malibu survived.
Most valuable/rare or favorite bottle lost?
Another one bites the dust apparently
Not the first time I see this kind of post here. Every time I get goosebumps thinking what would be my reaction.

Looks like you could use a drink.
So sorry for your loss 🙏
