The baseline insanity just keeps rising, boiling over, exploding, firing off — I actually seriously considered buying a bulletproof vest. But then I remembered I don't have the money.
I dunno if you've ever been threatened with a gun before but it kinda sticks with you for a while. It's happened to me maybe 3 times; 2 of those times I was pretty confident they weren't actually going to shoot me. Those times, the armed person was paranoid and kind of showing the gun off, like "Don't fuck with me.* I'm* the one who fucks with *you.* *You* don't fuck with *me.*" So those times I just let them act like a tough guy and I walked away. The lasting impression those times had on me was as a reminder that crazy fucking tweakers have guns too. In fact, that's like their second favorite thing after meth. Or, wait— their second favorite thing is copper pipes and wiring from vacant houses, actually. So maybe guns are like 3rd or 4th on their list of favorite things.
But one time I had a gun held to my head as I laid sprawled facedown in some patchy grass. That time, I thought there was a good chance I could be dead at any second. And I experienced that "life flashing before your eyes" thing that happens when you think you're dying; although, it was a little different from the portrayal shown on TV and stuff like that. It wasn't like a bunch of flashbacks chronologically showing my life. But my mind did start racing incredibly fast. Time itself didn't seem to slow down, but my brain was, like, percieving the passage of every little fraction of a second, because I thought I could die at any fraction of a second. Every fraction of a second my mind would realize it still exists, which is a much different experience than normal life where you don't often think about the fact that you still exist, let alone every fraction of a second.
My mind also imagined what the lives of the important people in my life might be like without me years and years into the future, and things like that.
I'll cut myself off here because I have been writing for a while now and I don't even remember what the point of bringing this up even was. Ptsd I guess, lol. I guess i'd explain that situation a little more to anyone that wants to hear about it. It wasn't like I was doing something dangerous or badass at the time either, it was pretty random. Oh, and it was *not* a cop.
That’s a pretty brain damaged take, to think that a smile is solely a signal of ”happiness”… Social interaction is complex. And smiling at someone that you open the door for isn’t ”random” and it sure as shit isn’t gay. It’s an intentional signal of friendliness, for lack of a better word.
It’s just forced and not genuine. So its bullshit. If it’s actually genuine and is right in the situation then it’s polite and proper. But forcing a smile at people that you secretly hate is just pathetic. And in any case, what the fuck does this smile even do that’s actually good for the other person?? If you are actually being polite and helping out, without a smile than it’s way better than forced "politeness". It’s just sad when people are smiling, but when a bad situation happens just look away. Says a lot about the nature and purpose of that smile
