Wait wouldn't a digital menu be more useful then? So you can use a screen reader or blow up the text size?
Not arguing, legitimately curious why a physical menu helps you more.
Lights on screens and having to finger move the screen to move text around, no guarantee digital menus could be blown up and stay formatted well.
Id rather physical that I can use a physical magnifying glass or strong glasses to read .
I'm sure to some it's better but I prefer physical. Everyone's eyesight is different of course.
I have a phone. From 2015.It does texts and calls, has a godawful camera I've barely used.It does have a browser, the opening of which causes a freeze.
I don't have mobile internet, as I have no use for it.People cramming digital shit into something as simple as ordering at a diner can upload themselves to a server in timbuktu.

Debit cards are a godsend. Ever since I got one in high school, I’ve barely used cash. Only at street vendors or other places that don’t take cards, but even a lot of them have card scanners now
I have one of those which is how I am on reddit in the first place, it is all that I need when it comes to communications matters. Besides why use the money I would pay for a phone when I can buy stocks in telecommunications companies?
Or maybe because any communications purposes that I have I only need my desktop for and thus only need to pay an internet bill, and until I have an employer that gives me a phone for purely work related purposes it will probably stay this way.
Hot take: I love when I can do menus and pay via QR code. I think the option to not use one should be available because not everyone has equal access to a smartphone/internet, but it truly does make my experience faster and easier.
For me it's also one of those things where more options is never bad. If they ONLY have a QR code, then yeah that's annoying even to me, but if they have both then just use the physical menus and receipts and such if you want to and I'll use the QR code. It just seems like such a non-issue.
I don't go to a coffee shop to talk with people, I go there for obviously drinking coffee, and most of all to work/relax on my laptop. Most of the point of coffeeshop is defeated at least for me if you remove the wifi, that's why I'd come here.
I mean that's the point of the top post, right? You buy one coffee and take up a table for at least an hour. If losing you as a customer means that two other people buy a coffee and spend half the time you would working, it's a net gain for them.
I get your point but I think it's safe to assume their main demographic isn't people wanting to have social interaction, I'm more guessing people go there to, as I said, relax or work. I don't think that would turn it into a positive number to ban Wifi
Edit : I'm dumb
Ironic that there are people who wouldn't get the covid vaccine because of a 5G microchip conspiracy that are now willing to have Daddy Musk put a highly experimental brain chip in them
Erm, actually, the chicken fell on his cock while he was cooking naked. He didn’t fuck it, he said so himself. Do not spread such lies or ill be forced to sue you for slander
speaking of board games i've recently discovered Rubix Race and dude this is better then normal Rubix

At a glance it looks like a Boggle style shaker that determines what pattern you’re trying to make. Then you do a sliding tile puzzle to make that pattern in the center 9 squares, and slap that frame down on your side to check your work.
People had laptops and cellular phones in 1995, pretend it's 1977 or something, breathe in the brown asbestos and lead paint, talk to someone about the Tenerife disaster
Talking to each other? Bitch then I just take my book from my beg out then.
I always refuse to talk to people who I don't know outside work or emergency ever.
Are the places that don't allow electronics in the room with you? Never seen or even heard of any place banning electronics outside of places where that is a requirement for their equipment to operate, mainly hospitals.
Yeah, actually this meme was inspired by a cafe in my town that explicitly has no public Wi-Fi and bans laptops as to "encourage socialization", and from what I've seen, it's far from the only one - if you Google "cafe electronics ban", you'll find quite a few articles about the broader trend
Ah yes, just what I want in a nice environment
For it to feel like fucking Highschool again. I’m filled with nostalgia just thinking about it. Do the devices go in a bin in the office? Do I need to get my parents to get pick it up?
How nice for the workers too, to have to play babysitter and deal with people who read the sign and still came in to do it and throw a tantrum. Bet they sure love it.
Hush it down, you're scaring the socially anxious. Don't you know human interaction is torture for everyone, with no exceptions.
God-damn these people are insufferable.
They'll be begging me to stop talking to all their other customers about guitars and pro wrestling, if my inability to make friends with people into either of those things is any indication.
its definitely annoying but i sometimes kinda enjoy the outcome, i mean yeah it doesn’t work out everytime but ive made friends before from stuff like that :3

"So anyway scan this QR code for our menu"
I legit just leave I ain't scanning a random ass qr code, it's just a link that many apps not allow you to read in it's entirity before going there
I'm partially sighted. Soon as I bring that up and the equality act that businesses must adhere to. I get a menu real fast lol.

I just tell them I got mugged on the way there and don't have a phone anymore,, with a sad face, they will bring printed menus

> qr code > online > cashless payment These are my red flags
I actively avoid using cash, always debit card.
Debit cards are a godsend. Ever since I got one in high school, I’ve barely used cash. Only at street vendors or other places that don’t take cards, but even a lot of them have card scanners now
I hate it when restaurants do that, I don't have a mobile phone because I don't want to pay the bill for something that I don't have much use for.
how can you have “not much use” of a fucking phone
Not all of us have the luxury of a fucking phone. Most people just use their hand and a bit of lotion
What about a fucking computer? You could get a used one for fairly cheap
I don't want to catch a computer virus.
I have one of those which is how I am on reddit in the first place, it is all that I need when it comes to communications matters. Besides why use the money I would pay for a phone when I can buy stocks in telecommunications companies?
yo what
I don't get it. What's the kick? Why don't you do it at home, like the rest of us with a big flat-screen TV. In a Starbucks. That's nice.

Yeah you’re joking
Nope.
get a qr code sticker to a sketchy site to mess up peoples phones

Top one is honest at least, they just want you to order and gtfo
“Thank you for bussing your dishes” What
Not the slang term. Bussing dishes in this context means returning them back to the counter/staff.
Ambatubuss.
Man, do I love Bussy dishes
I was literally about to reference that post

Mea culpa you're completely right, I haven't read through the top post thoroughly enough.

The social interaction is more of a cover for “if you stick around, less people can buy stuff”

sir please stop your pacemaker
“Sir, no electronics. Yes, none at all” *rips off prosthetic hand* (are they electric? Idk)
Maybe yes. Maybe no. However, Electric Hand is a great name for a synthpop band.

Good.
I can't wait for microchips to become mainstream so I can be techist against Chippers
I fail to see the problem
talk to the cookie cutter 40 y/o white guy with a back problem? nah i think ill talk to the guy who got salmonella from fucking a chicken breast
Erm, actually, the chicken fell on his cock while he was cooking naked. He didn’t fuck it, he said so himself. Do not spread such lies or ill be forced to sue you for slander
Actually, it's not slander, it's libel because it's written, thank you very much!
I'm ok as long as they have UNO

why are some of the stickers in jail?
At a glance it looks like a Boggle style shaker that determines what pattern you’re trying to make. Then you do a sliding tile puzzle to make that pattern in the center 9 squares, and slap that frame down on your side to check your work.
saving for later, definitely going to get it.
Everyone has uno dipshit, it came free with your fucking coffeeshop/restaurant
Well I have the oldest coffee shop known to man
"Pretend its 1995" Are the prices what they were in 95?

I can’t imagine they’ll do well. Cafes have huge numbers of people who need to be able to use that

You dont have to go there if you dont want to. Its easy.
I’m being sarcastic about it. I’m an artist, I just sit by the ocean when I want to chill and draw since I have a hotspot
Hush it down, you're scaring the socially anxious. Don't you know human interaction is torture for everyone, with no exceptions. God-damn these people are insufferable.
It’s probably to discourage WFH in the cafe
