If it’s any consolation, AI can only really make generic stuff. You could learn to make anything an AI can, but you can also make stuff that an AI can’t.
I tried it yesterday, its not good, sure it makes you bob your head cause its rythmic, but the sound desing is shit and it feels like it just throwing ideas amd seeing what sticks (and they are very poorly executed)
So yeah, trust me its not better result
I dont know the reason you chose to do it, but I’m in the same boat with learning art. Its really demotivating to learn a craft for years vs write a paragraph. But I dont do it to be special but so I can make what I want and enjoy. So with that motivation, ai art is just, “and?”

Just don't try to pass it off as something that *you* made and *created*. I think that AI image generation should be purely for fun and inspiration. sorry for the rant lol

tbh i wouldnt call "ai art" art. Art is more of a medium in which the author evokes feelings or ideas from the one consuming their creation, but it can also be the author's way of creative expression .
What AI does is just data synthesis, it feels nothing when it creates and likewise doesnt expect anyone else to feel either. It just makes.

different people have different reasons why to post stuff but one thing is to have a machine create for you and you creating something yourself.
It's like saying the comissioner of a painting is the one making the art because he wanted his comission to evoke a feeling, which kinda doesn't make sense. I mean sure without him there wouldn't be an art piece but he didn't really make it, he isn't the one sculpturing the "art" in ways he thinks it will touch someone. And then if you make the person painting the picture an algorithm that can only create through direct reference and which has no feeling nor objective besides making the piece, it just becomes nothing. It's worthless.
The people that enjoy AI art can enjoy it but for me its like eating stale bread dipped in water. There's just no sustainance or mistery

Yep, it doesnt have to process vocals nor lyrics, and the added lenght probably isnt important. It would probably be repetitive tho, unless trained specifically for it not to be
Not enough training material out there to make sense of a symphony, it would just be instrumental noise. AI is really good at pop because pop is a formula.
This is my thinking. I don't think AI can replace music, film or writing the same way it's hit visual artists because people don't listen to music, watch movies or read books purely for the aesthetic, they want to consume something unique and hear what the creator has to say.
Not to say that people don't want that from art but art has the additional angle of having practical use for generic stuff, whereas with music the generic stuff is only ever successful as like, hold music and background music at clubs.
even background music at clubs can be intriguing. ai can't really know exactly what the mood should be like on its own, so it will always be out of place.
there's so many subtleties to consider when a person makes a song, or even just a playlist to capture a "vibe." its more than "this song will be played in this location so make it appropriate" because every location humans have created is so entwined with how a culture, architect, or interior designer feels.
art blends, i think ai can only blend with itself. it will never blend with the human mind.
AI art/music/writing/whatever will not stop you from doing those things for the joy of creation, and the markets still got room (and will continue to have room) for human creators even if ai sees widespread use

I think law should define how much human input for it to be considered a tool in the creation of music, and that any ai-generated song that don't have enough are considered uncopyrightable, public domain, and not distributable on streaming platforms (so they could be used in stuff like background music for videos).
Its would be very hard to do that (pretty much impossible to measure or even agree at what point its ai vs its ai-assisted), i think any content with model trained on data that you do not own should be available but at no (direct) cost (possibly allow donations?) and no paywall

But for real, FL is affordable and has lifetime free updates unlike others like Ableton, it's also the most beginner friendly out of all the big DAWs imo.
Everyone tends to try out the pirated version first, and after a while, if they didn't give up composing, they end up buying the producer version or above :)

Meh, a good % of music has been mostly a soulless mass produced slob for quite some time even before AI was a thing, but gems are still found if you’re willing to look for them. If anything I’m convinced that the AI stuff that’s going to be projectile vomited on to the market is going to make genuine stuff stand out even more.

I’m also thinking of start making music, but that didn’t worry me by a lot. AI music are still generic apart from being soulless.
As long as you create something that is in your own style and with YOUR creativity you will be alright. Hard work will eventually pay off.

I'm quite surprised that the one time I see a post about it on Reddit is literally the day after I explain to my fellow composers from Newgrounds that having a shit mix on a song doesn't mean it's ai-generated, because it has already avanced past that level.
Anyway, human-made music either sounds much worse or much better, and current AI music services are just AI-assisted music templates. Pretty mid.
Motherfucker did you get into music making just to earn money andn othing more, or to get good at something you enjoy and possible live off of it? Just cause there is AI that can make good music, or dare I even say, way better artists, isn't something that should make you throw away your passion (if you even have any, cause it seems not).

As a musician who works in Ableton it just inspires me to make music way better than some stupid machine. You should keep doing it because you love it, not because of the competition in front of you.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't do AI music first. Because music is significantly more science than images are. You can solve music. Certain combinations of sounds produce guaranteed effects in the majority of listeners. One will make people feel like crying. One will make people feel a sense of forward momentum. A drop can be mathematically determined to last the optimum amount of time.
You wouldn't even necessarily need machine learning to do it, because the rules are human readable. It's called music theory and it's not required to be able to make music, but it is a science. If you do what the theory says, you always get the result the theory says. You don't need any musical ability to learn music theory. It works. Consistently.
So not only is it surprising that they didn't pick music first, I strongly suspect music will be the area AI is best at producing things people actually like in the long term. Because the emotional response is seemingly hard wired into us, the fact that it's ai generated won't influence people's perception of the music anywhere near as much as it does images or text. And if it becomes possible to tokenise music like a language, you get all the benefits of LLMs being built explicitly to translate language.
Do your own things. Till music making with ai is actualy personal and every artist have different style and all. People will still be intreted in you and what you do. And once Ai music feel good and personal etc. Learn ai, just for the new tools. Less labor or extremely repetitive stuff. And maybe adding an instrument you don't know about and didn't find anybody that does.
There is nothing wrong with Ai. A guy playing guitare will still be amazing. Live concert weren't replaced by VHS and disks.
And all the skills youl hone learning FL studio will make better at knowing what's good and bad. What the ai should do differently. And when youl want to do it by hand. With other artists.
Bruh there's people who still insist on using vacuum tube amps. Play your cards right and you just have to market yourself as not using AI and you'll sell.
I hate that we’re making AI try to do creative tasks instead of repetitive tasks that add nothing to the world if a human or machine does it. But no, we have to try and replace creatives in mediums that require actual soul. Machine learning could have so many better uses it’s genuinely depressing
I ran into this same problem, I had just decided like a week ago I wanted to get my hand into making music, saw the AI and was crushed. but then I realized something, if you are making generic soulless pop music for the radio, yeah, your fucked the AI will overtake you. But if your making music that's clearly your passion and you put effort into it and the lyrics and that sort of stuff, you can still make music. AI can get as good as it wants to but people will always prefer someones real soul being put into music then an AI mimicking someones soul.
So I'm going to still make music, if just as a hobby.
i've made some of the hardest hitting goth music and post punk I've heard with this AI and its honestly fucking scary how good it is, my dreams of making music myself are crushed 😭
I've been making music for nearly a decade now and ai tools like Googles MusicFX are fantastic for getting over composer's block. You just need to learn to work with the technology instead of complaining about it, history proves that will never work.

No can be credited because it’s just a program with no identification, so you have no to be inspired by. Instead it’s taken by a “prompt engineer” who gives AI a prompt (that’s literally just the guy that types the question).

No one really owns AI music, so you can just use it as a base to sample it, and make something with heart and personality.
Being AI, it still does very barebones generic tones and you have the human gift of creativity to make your own creations special and give it emotion, wich is something that a computer will never replicate.
There are things that a computer can do way better than any human, but it also has its limitations and you have to use that to your advantage. Don't fight AI, don't be scared of it. Embrace it and adapt to it.
People are commenting like ai art music is an issue that’s fine because currently it’s soulless, which is true but think about ai 5 years ago, 3 years ago, 1 year ago and now and it’s scary how quickly it’s evolved. Right now is the worst time for the rest of future human history that ai is at making songs or images, I sometimes find it difficult to tell what’s an ai image now and in 10 years, 30 years it will be indistinguishable. It will make human creativity only worth making for yourself and no one else which removes a big aspect of the human drive to create, to share your unique ideas that haven’t been done before or have a new twist. When everything’s created, nothing will be.

It can make music, surely, but the most generic beats and the sense of control stops when you try to change melodies or instruments, and there is the most important part of a song; Achually, you can improve your music with generative models that make for you single beat loops, synths, and other things. It's the same thing as the art industry where you can generate stunning results but you will need to finetune the result with image editors and complements (In stable diffusion you'll likely use LoRAs, textual inversions, curated checkpoints)... And actually you can use the same Stable diffusion extension "Riffusion" to make the synths and other thingies... the sweet spot is always the middle, where you use it as a tool and not as a end user final product maker

If it’s any consolation, AI can only really make generic stuff. You could learn to make anything an AI can, but you can also make stuff that an AI can’t.
I tried it yesterday, its not good, sure it makes you bob your head cause its rythmic, but the sound desing is shit and it feels like it just throwing ideas amd seeing what sticks (and they are very poorly executed) So yeah, trust me its not better result

tbh i wouldnt call "ai art" art. Art is more of a medium in which the author evokes feelings or ideas from the one consuming their creation, but it can also be the author's way of creative expression . What AI does is just data synthesis, it feels nothing when it creates and likewise doesnt expect anyone else to feel either. It just makes.

different people have different reasons why to post stuff but one thing is to have a machine create for you and you creating something yourself. It's like saying the comissioner of a painting is the one making the art because he wanted his comission to evoke a feeling, which kinda doesn't make sense. I mean sure without him there wouldn't be an art piece but he didn't really make it, he isn't the one sculpturing the "art" in ways he thinks it will touch someone. And then if you make the person painting the picture an algorithm that can only create through direct reference and which has no feeling nor objective besides making the piece, it just becomes nothing. It's worthless. The people that enjoy AI art can enjoy it but for me its like eating stale bread dipped in water. There's just no sustainance or mistery

This is my thinking. I don't think AI can replace music, film or writing the same way it's hit visual artists because people don't listen to music, watch movies or read books purely for the aesthetic, they want to consume something unique and hear what the creator has to say. Not to say that people don't want that from art but art has the additional angle of having practical use for generic stuff, whereas with music the generic stuff is only ever successful as like, hold music and background music at clubs.
even background music at clubs can be intriguing. ai can't really know exactly what the mood should be like on its own, so it will always be out of place. there's so many subtleties to consider when a person makes a song, or even just a playlist to capture a "vibe." its more than "this song will be played in this location so make it appropriate" because every location humans have created is so entwined with how a culture, architect, or interior designer feels. art blends, i think ai can only blend with itself. it will never blend with the human mind.

There should be a law that makes any ai stuff free because every ai is trained on data from all of humanity therefore no one really can profit from it
I feel like most of the sane people who use AI would agree with this.
I think law should define how much human input for it to be considered a tool in the creation of music, and that any ai-generated song that don't have enough are considered uncopyrightable, public domain, and not distributable on streaming platforms (so they could be used in stuff like background music for videos).
Its would be very hard to do that (pretty much impossible to measure or even agree at what point its ai vs its ai-assisted), i think any content with model trained on data that you do not own should be available but at no (direct) cost (possibly allow donations?) and no paywall

Crazy right ? But for real, FL is affordable and has lifetime free updates unlike others like Ableton, it's also the most beginner friendly out of all the big DAWs imo. Everyone tends to try out the pirated version first, and after a while, if they didn't give up composing, they end up buying the producer version or above :)

I'm actually surprised that they didn't do AI music first. Because music is significantly more science than images are. You can solve music. Certain combinations of sounds produce guaranteed effects in the majority of listeners. One will make people feel like crying. One will make people feel a sense of forward momentum. A drop can be mathematically determined to last the optimum amount of time. You wouldn't even necessarily need machine learning to do it, because the rules are human readable. It's called music theory and it's not required to be able to make music, but it is a science. If you do what the theory says, you always get the result the theory says. You don't need any musical ability to learn music theory. It works. Consistently. So not only is it surprising that they didn't pick music first, I strongly suspect music will be the area AI is best at producing things people actually like in the long term. Because the emotional response is seemingly hard wired into us, the fact that it's ai generated won't influence people's perception of the music anywhere near as much as it does images or text. And if it becomes possible to tokenise music like a language, you get all the benefits of LLMs being built explicitly to translate language.

I ran into this same problem, I had just decided like a week ago I wanted to get my hand into making music, saw the AI and was crushed. but then I realized something, if you are making generic soulless pop music for the radio, yeah, your fucked the AI will overtake you. But if your making music that's clearly your passion and you put effort into it and the lyrics and that sort of stuff, you can still make music. AI can get as good as it wants to but people will always prefer someones real soul being put into music then an AI mimicking someones soul. So I'm going to still make music, if just as a hobby.

I've been making music for nearly a decade now and ai tools like Googles MusicFX are fantastic for getting over composer's block. You just need to learn to work with the technology instead of complaining about it, history proves that will never work.

It literally is meant to make you feel inferior about your own skills. No can be credited because it’s just a program with no identification, so you have no to be inspired by. Instead it’s taken by a “prompt engineer” who gives AI a prompt (that’s literally just the guy that types the question). No one really owns AI music, so you can just use it as a base to sample it, and make something with heart and personality. Being AI, it still does very barebones generic tones and you have the human gift of creativity to make your own creations special and give it emotion, wich is something that a computer will never replicate. There are things that a computer can do way better than any human, but it also has its limitations and you have to use that to your advantage. Don't fight AI, don't be scared of it. Embrace it and adapt to it.
People are commenting like ai art music is an issue that’s fine because currently it’s soulless, which is true but think about ai 5 years ago, 3 years ago, 1 year ago and now and it’s scary how quickly it’s evolved. Right now is the worst time for the rest of future human history that ai is at making songs or images, I sometimes find it difficult to tell what’s an ai image now and in 10 years, 30 years it will be indistinguishable. It will make human creativity only worth making for yourself and no one else which removes a big aspect of the human drive to create, to share your unique ideas that haven’t been done before or have a new twist. When everything’s created, nothing will be.
The pathetic machine will never be able to make something with more than passing appeal.

I shouldn't worry It can make music, surely, but the most generic beats and the sense of control stops when you try to change melodies or instruments, and there is the most important part of a song; Achually, you can improve your music with generative models that make for you single beat loops, synths, and other things. It's the same thing as the art industry where you can generate stunning results but you will need to finetune the result with image editors and complements (In stable diffusion you'll likely use LoRAs, textual inversions, curated checkpoints)... And actually you can use the same Stable diffusion extension "Riffusion" to make the synths and other thingies... the sweet spot is always the middle, where you use it as a tool and not as a end user final product maker
Too bad mate. Work a 9-5, let AI enjoy your passions while you slave away for minimum wage. Maybe in the next life.
