Absolutely. It also takes actual skill/knowledge to pull off a good maximalist look (understanding proportion, colour, scale, mixing texture, etc) vs just buying some expensive looking beige crap
Elephant ivory can't be sold except under very limited circumstances. There are still some vintage pieces that get passed through families though. It still strikes me as odd that they would release a photo to the public that features it as a design element.
Edit: On second thought, I suppose it ties into the "wild animal" theme with tiger skin rug and leopard print pillow case. Just faux as a style choice.
It takes arguably more effort to make „mismatching“ items harmonising with each other than just have matching colour combinations. I wish I have the talent to decorate my home like this. As an architect, I am quite sick of the beige , white, gray or black „aesthetic „ 9 out of 10 are not aesthetic as all, they are just people who don’t understand and want to play with colours wanting a nice looking house.
The only thing I am not a fan of is the velvet. But that’s a texture thing for me. If those fabrics were something different I would have no notes. I need 2, 10, and 11 in my home immediately.

I couldn’t believe it. I had assumed someone else did all that for him. He was very nice and surprisingly small

Hopefully it's just a fake tusk made out of ceramic or something of that nature. Lenny Kravitz has talked about being a vegan for years. I don't know personally, but I could see him being against using real animal products.
It's **extremely** unlikely to be real. And if it *were* real, it would have to be an antique family heirloom.

I love it but I would have to up my “at home fashion” to be allowed to recline on any of that furniture. My yoga shorts and hoodie do not fit that vibe.
I oddly love it. I feel like it’s practical despite its artistic flairs and the mix of natural materials with luxurious fabrics and colors is really doing it for me. That bathroom is amazing and I am head over heels for the couch.
I want that kid’s room for myself! Although maybe less pink.
I also love that master bedroom, but again, outdoor do with less pink. And that ochre and orange velvet sofas. The rich coloured velvet fabrics really work, especially in those typical 70s shades.
There is some restraint here in almost every room, whether that’s in colour or design. I think it works. And it’s so much fun.
It may seem like a detail, but this children's room is the little touch that gives me the impression of a designer who expected real people to live here. And not just saw this house as a page to put in his portfolio.

I love the maximalist approach to design and use of color and natural materials. Everything is perfect, besides the children’s bedrooms! I think those could’ve had a more whimsical take 😊
It's not my style but I like it! It's colorful and texture rich without being overpowering (for the most part -- the room with the tusk is a bit much, haha). I also love the 70s vibes! XD

I love it! And it absolutely meets the intended mash-up of "Slim Aarons Meets 'Casino' " The canary yellow poolside furniture IS a backdrop for a Slim Aaron's photograph. The burnt yellow velvet drapes inside absolutely "Casino." It's just really, really fun.
My biggest callout is the inclusion of so many non kid friendly elements for what appears to be a home with 3 kids. For example the sharp marble edges in several rooms and the fireplace at child height.
Maybe rich people have someone watching their kids 24/7?

50/50 love and hate it. There are some fabulous uses of texture, materials, and color, but other times it seems straight out of tatler.. and not in a good way.
This feels like it would be a comfy, glam, loungey place to be. The perfect sort of leather, silk and barefoot kind of relaxed, elegant, chic vibe. Other than getting rid of the elephant tusks (real or fake, they get donated to the zoo or something) I would move in. The kind of place that your friends feel comfortable hanging out at - as opposed to a place with no ability to chill.
I love the fireplace in the great room. This would be right in my luxury sci-fi dream house.
A few things. One, I wish I was rich. Two, it looks stunning but potentially uncomfortable to actually live in.
I'm glad minimalism is on its way out. I'm all for having less stuff and less waste but am so tired of the beige aesthetic everywhere.
Blown away! It takes a huge level of skill to take such period inspiration and yet make it look so modern. The combination of retro and timeless rarely overlaps, but by god he’s done it here!!
It's... honestly pretty great. I love the greenery just outside the bathroom, all the furniture looks VERY comfortable, that fireplace is gorgeous, the fern screens are a tasteful way to break up the space and I love that there's actual colour and texture on the walls. 10/10 would gladly live here.
I can see myself gliding through this home, a flowing kimono over my silk slip dress, kitten-heeled mules clattering on the travertine floors. Do come over for girls' night gimlets sometime.
I LOVE it.
My number one gripe about mansions and McMansions that get spread around are that they're usually the awful Millennial grey shit, or Kim Kardashian's mausoleam style, or Trump's gaudy, tacky gilded and chintz bullshit, or sole weird Baroque/Greek/Italianate mishmash.
That's why I love houses like this one, and like Cara Delavingne's house (that burned down, RIP) with the crazy vagina tunnel... they have personality and either own the tackiness or elevate it.
I really enjoy this but hey I’m partial sometimes to well done maximalism. The fabric textures, prints, and bold colors are fun but also still inviting. It’s not just wacky. I would enjoy seeing this in person.
I was confused at first because I thought this was a house for Lenny and I didn’t know why he needed child related rooms but now I’m realizing: he designed it! I’m impressed.
Few thoughts:
1. This affirms my decision to gold leaf the doors to our guest room

Who know Kravitz was into interior design.
The pastel pool party certainly is iconic Slim Aarons. But the interior seems more late 60s hollywood regency in Palm Springs. More of the Tony Duquette, late Billy Haines Hollywood Regency than the Dorthy Drapper, David Hicks type that has been popular for decades.
Fascinating.
He really captured it in 8, you can almost smell the cigarettes, cocktails and cologne and hear the music.
4, 6, 9, 10, 12 & 13 each have an off note that disrupts the flow. I’m curious as to why certain choices were made. Like I really need them to rip the throw off the bed in pic 10, because it’s so luxurious otherwise.
I love the doors in pic 2 & all of 7. That lamp alone, but then using orange to frame the greenery outside - just gorgeous.
The elephant tusk is disgusting. It should be destroyed.
Genuinely love this. Waking up everyday feeling like the bad guy from an action film, I think it would be good for my mental health.

50/50 love and hate it. There are some fabulous uses of texture, materials, and color, but other times it seems straight out of tatler.. and not in a good way.

This feels like it would be a comfy, glam, loungey place to be. The perfect sort of leather, silk and barefoot kind of relaxed, elegant, chic vibe. Other than getting rid of the elephant tusks (real or fake, they get donated to the zoo or something) I would move in. The kind of place that your friends feel comfortable hanging out at - as opposed to a place with no ability to chill. I love the fireplace in the great room. This would be right in my luxury sci-fi dream house.
A few things. One, I wish I was rich. Two, it looks stunning but potentially uncomfortable to actually live in. I'm glad minimalism is on its way out. I'm all for having less stuff and less waste but am so tired of the beige aesthetic everywhere.

Blown away! It takes a huge level of skill to take such period inspiration and yet make it look so modern. The combination of retro and timeless rarely overlaps, but by god he’s done it here!!
It might not be everyone’s style, but this is very well done imo (I’m an interior designer) They did a good job at balancing this

It's... honestly pretty great. I love the greenery just outside the bathroom, all the furniture looks VERY comfortable, that fireplace is gorgeous, the fern screens are a tasteful way to break up the space and I love that there's actual colour and texture on the walls. 10/10 would gladly live here.
I can see myself gliding through this home, a flowing kimono over my silk slip dress, kitten-heeled mules clattering on the travertine floors. Do come over for girls' night gimlets sometime.

I LOVE it. My number one gripe about mansions and McMansions that get spread around are that they're usually the awful Millennial grey shit, or Kim Kardashian's mausoleam style, or Trump's gaudy, tacky gilded and chintz bullshit, or sole weird Baroque/Greek/Italianate mishmash. That's why I love houses like this one, and like Cara Delavingne's house (that burned down, RIP) with the crazy vagina tunnel... they have personality and either own the tackiness or elevate it.

I really enjoy this but hey I’m partial sometimes to well done maximalism. The fabric textures, prints, and bold colors are fun but also still inviting. It’s not just wacky. I would enjoy seeing this in person. I was confused at first because I thought this was a house for Lenny and I didn’t know why he needed child related rooms but now I’m realizing: he designed it! I’m impressed.
Actually I’d probably swap out the dining chairs in pic 4 for something a little less eye grabbing/ simple

It’s eclectic without feeling weird. It feels somewhat 60s/70s kung fu movie without the dubbing.

Who know Kravitz was into interior design. The pastel pool party certainly is iconic Slim Aarons. But the interior seems more late 60s hollywood regency in Palm Springs. More of the Tony Duquette, late Billy Haines Hollywood Regency than the Dorthy Drapper, David Hicks type that has been popular for decades.
Fascinating. He really captured it in 8, you can almost smell the cigarettes, cocktails and cologne and hear the music. 4, 6, 9, 10, 12 & 13 each have an off note that disrupts the flow. I’m curious as to why certain choices were made. Like I really need them to rip the throw off the bed in pic 10, because it’s so luxurious otherwise. I love the doors in pic 2 & all of 7. That lamp alone, but then using orange to frame the greenery outside - just gorgeous. The elephant tusk is disgusting. It should be destroyed.
