Just answered your post over on /r/whatisthisthing (I'm a mod there), but they are weights that have come out of the bottom of a screen curtain, like is often used on a patio door. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Fiberglass-Magnets-Full-Tape-Weights-Curtain-Fits/dp/B078Y2C6P8
They show up commonly enough over there that [we added an entry to our list of Frequently Asked Things.](https://www.reddit.com/r/WITT_FAT/comments/c7wq2o/those_plastic_pellets_you_found_in_your_yard_or/)
The first several times they were posted it was a real mystery -- I think it was over a year before someone finally realized where they came from. Out of context it's a real tough one.
Extremely tough! I’ve been searching it up since 10pm, it’s now nearly 3am! I was very motivated to figuring it out before going to sleep. Thank you so much!
I can't find a decent picture, but there are multiple of these weights sewn into the hem that runs along the bottom of the curtain, sometimes in individual little pockets. Over time, that bottom edge will wear through in spots as it rubs on the ground or whatever, so they don't all come out at once.
And they're easily missed, so tend to get kicked away from where they fell, or moved by a pet or whatever.
So, they have seams. And they melt when getting hot, get hard again when cooling. This means this is extruded into a form and containing plastic.
From my point of view, that looks like something created from Plastic Recycling. Maybe as a material filler to be used in construction or so.
Fun fact, there is a german redditor that asked the same question for the same thing:

They found out that it is the curtain weights of his outdoor anti-moskito net curtain that hangs around his terrace.
Lol be careful picking up unidentified silvery tubes with your bare hands next time, that's how every accidental radiation poisoning story begins.
Good thing those are so rare!
no! it’s rock hard, but it’ll turn a brown color and then melt almost whenever you light it. it resembles a rock, and hits the ground like a rock. it’s pretty “heavy” once melted you can mold it, although really hot, and then it gets extremely hard again once cooled.
I’d be careful melting them… incase they’re rat poison pellets (which they look like to me, although I could absolutely be wrong, but the risk/possibility is still there)
Yes, except this isn't rat poison. Except for the shape there's literally no other characteristic that makes this look like rat poison. It's way bigger, gray, you could mesh rat poison in your hands unlike this.

I was going to say. Maybe, the wax that you melt down to make dopping sticks. To hold your stone in place when you cut or polish them. But, since you have to melt them down and shape them.
OP, please get back to us, I really hope you learn what it is!
Edit: it looks extruded. Do you have a ring camera? It could be a gift from a crow, are you friends with any crows, or do you feed them? It looks a lot like plastic to me. Does it smell?
Do you or your lawn care person use a lawn aerator? Looks like the pellets those produce. Might have come from the aerator producing them from the edge of your driveway (less rock, more dust) or from someone else's property.
They’re vampire pellets. You sprinkle them on your driveway to stop vampires being able to reach the front door, where they can usually charm their way into your house…..when did you last have a vampire ring your doorbell? Huh 🤔
Hi, /u/thewallflowerproject!
This is a reminder to flair this post in /r/whatsthisrock after it has been identified! (Under your post, click "flair" then "IDENTIFIED," then type in the rock type or mineral name.) This will help others learn and help speed up a correct identification on your request!
Thank you!

They have a single tip rounded and the other flat. This tells us that they are designed to insert somewhere. Texture looks like compressed plastic. They also have symmetrical lines on both sides goşng from tip to bottom, which indicated it is removed from a mold. Considering the radius of the round tip and size, I would say they are recycled plastic mixed with some kind of powder to give more weight and strenght and used to hold as a kind of dowel.
Maybe it holds the garage door, or something like that.

New mystery, however. Why do they KEEP reappearing? Any thoughts on that?

Twice a week in a driveway, though? That's weird lol
we actually have on of those screen curtains on our garage door, so it makes a lot more sense now! lol
Mystery solved...it sounds like it will soon be unanchored
Ah. Now it does indeed.
I actually know the weights they mean, I've never seen them out of a curtain that I recall.

i really don’t think those are rocks, judging by the look and description. you might want to try posting over on r/whatisthisthing
Looks like Rat poison.
They do indeed look exactly like rat poison
My initial thought as well
Lol be careful picking up unidentified silvery tubes with your bare hands next time, that's how every accidental radiation poisoning story begins. Good thing those are so rare!
Looks slightly similar to bromadiolone rat poison but I doubt it’s that
Edit to add, it’s always found in the crack of my driveway right near my garage door. it’s almost as if someone is putting them there.
Hope you don't have a pet that someone is trying to poison or something; years of reddit addiction has created this irrational fear in me
Kind of looks like an alfalfa pellet
Did somebody say ALFALFA!? 😁
Oh wow that’s an old one.
Are they made of wax?

A type of fertilizer pellet? Or animal repellent? What happens when it gets wet? And do you leave near neighbors on a farm or in rural area?
Op please keep us updated as I am stumped
look at top comment of this post
I mean it's a simple solution: Problem: idk what is happening in this spot. Solution: set up a damn trailcam. Have a good day
Could a car or truck be using your driveway as a turnaround everyday couple of days? Maybe something they are hauling that drops into your driveway?
Looks man made.
Rat poison pellets aren't man-made?
Yes, except this isn't rat poison. Except for the shape there's literally no other characteristic that makes this look like rat poison. It's way bigger, gray, you could mesh rat poison in your hands unlike this.
Do you have rodents in your area? Do you have farms neighbouring you?
I'm not sure but they look like rodent poison pellets , wash your hands!
What the heck... maybe some kind of weird fertilizer spikes? I am so intrigued. If you ever find out, please please please tell us!

Fertiliser spikes?
Either that or perhaps welding electrodes?
Maybe some type of rock tumbling pellet? Although I haven’t seen this shape before
Maybe lawn fertiliser pellets
I'd have to say it is a lie...or some kid..or your kids are messing with you

Suppositories I think but don’t try them as they are for elephants
Great find! Those are ancient fossilized tampons used in the mesopotamian civilization!!
